Well Tommy this actually WAS helpful! I first assumed you had to buy the entire trailing arms of a model with discs, but happily there do seem to be brackets out there and you can even re-use the hub! Thanks a lot for this video! You certainly helped me!

Sooooo basically those two brackets are all that's needed to go from drum to disc? I've got a 99 Civic EX and want disc brakes in the back,, I was preparing to build a whole new rear end just to accommodate that want for my car. $160 will take me from drum to disc?? And I'm strictly referring about the conversion not the rotors pads lines and all that other mess. Great video man and I'm super pumped I can go this route instead of whole new other trailing arms from one car and putting those into my car to make this conversation work.

Swapping the whole trailing arm is less time consuming and less expensive if you find a good set at the junkyard.

I feel you man 🤣 i did my conversion on the ground like you too and that e brake cable was hard, i was so tired after one side too. After i completed the conversion i was so exhausted but it was worth it.

I didn't know they made this kit. I did it the hard way. Full suspension off a ex and swapped it all over to my hatch. Pain in the ass!! But no more drums!!

In the ph you could get a whole trailing arm for around 150usd however. I like the idea of sourcing out parts specifically for what you want and need. Great job ☝🏼

I bought my rear trailing arms from a 2000 integra at the junkyard for $138 I removed them myself took like 1hour and another 45min to remove the rotors because I didn’t bring a screwdriver and ima spend another $200 on rockauto for cables, rotors, calipers, and bushings

No need to use the handbrake or breaker bar to loosen the 32mm nuts ;) its a solid pin to the trailing arm :P because FWD ;)

this is an interesting kit. seems like everyone does the complete RTA's. I snagged mine off a DC integra for my swap on my 91 hatch. This would have been about the same price but wouldn't have taken as much work. I need to see if they make brackets for a big brake setup for the front.

LATOMMYLA they do make a bracket!!! apparently allows you to run the Corrado rotors and some version of a Chevy caliper with 2 1/4" pistons vs 2"

Loctite would of been a nice safety feature to use for the conversion bracket and also you should of checked for centering on the caliper and added washers as shims to make the rotor centered. Well, i really don't know if it matters but its in this write up on Honda Tech. But yeah those rotors are very small for your wheel size what size are they 17's? I'm using the scarebird conversion brackets too and they didnt' send me any shorter bolts which was puzzling because i didn't know you needed shorter bolts. The hub that the bracket bolts on on my civic seems to have bent a little on the bottom when i tightened it down also and i'm not sure why just bad casting or something. I'm doing this conversion because my brakes never worked properly nor the ebrake. Did the ebrake first cuz its better to get it out of the way in my opinion.

Yes. More powerful braking is a huge safety upgrade,ESPECIALLY if your car is pushing over like 200hp

@@TristonSmith_ThePlumbingSmith Your wheels are gonna lock/abs is gonna set in way before you reach maximum braking power in everyday driving. Having discs on the rear is only better to reduce brake fading when braking hard repeatedly and for easier maintenance

did a Acura rear disc conversion on my track eg, was a pain in the ass haha especially since on of the trailing arms I got had a bent spindle.... also I didn't even bother taking off the drum, just cut the old ebrake cable and dropped the whole thing and swapped new trailing arms in. probably won't replace the ebrake cables, it's a track car, won't be using the ebrake much anyway 😂😂

Drum brakes are actually better for pure stopping power, they just heat up quickly and retain heat, so on a track after a couple laps you lose stopping power as they fail from heat. Disc brakes cool much better, so you retain good brake power for longer.

Yes any 96-00 with rear drums its a universal bracket kit but u gotta order prop valve brake lines rotors pads n calipers seperate

proportional valve is the same for all 96-00 civic including the SI. No need to replace it, if it works.

It actually isnt the same, the part numbers are different. SI, and all Hatch models use the same prop valve.

ek_mariano G not exactly. You're mistaking the brake booster since those are all the same. I believe si models have a diff prop valve. But they are all identical on the outside

David Munoz 99-00 civic si has the same 40/40 prop. Valve as any 96-00 civic non abs,I thought the ex was the same but it is not.
