Yup Yup! With a MAP tune the MAF is only used for Intake Air Temp.

It’s a hybrid tune though bro. Utilizes MAF and map sensor 🤔... Just happy that I found out what the issue was and why it caused my MAF to fail 👍🏼

I’m thinking since the plastic was jammed between the inner hot wires, it shorted out the sensor....

clean your throttle body inside.. especially if you don’t have the coolent bypass done on it

@@jorger581 it was my crankshaft position sensor bro. Gave out after 14 years. Also, I went ahead and replaced my MAF SENSOR… both same time of repair. Car ran like new..

@@TheGerbsteve because its not getting any info from the MAF its relying on the info from the MAP to run the tune. thats why it runs like shit when you take that option away by removing the tune.

Try scanning cel, could be an o2 sensor.

i have the same car man. but the lx version. i blught the autozone sensor thinking that will fix the issue. pro lem was still there so started fixing other stuff like a noobie cause i excluded the air flow sensor $$$ just to find out it was still the brand new sensor was defective. lately autozone duralast products has been acting up so as of now imma stick with advanced. i gotta stary watching the whole video cause once i saw you have air flow sensor issue i stop watching and jumped in comments like noooooooooo............. BUY FROM ADVANCED lol.

Dam, wish i would've read this sooner, i replaced the maf on my 07 si, from autozone, after i swapped out old sensor the check engine light came on nd now my car is running even worse

Sounds like an o2 sensor, but I would plug a obd2 scanner in, see if it’ll display any codes.

Already contacted him. Car needs to be reliable for a big trip I have planned soon, should’ve stated that. I will be getting a re tune regardless

Amazing! Just make sure that you use a denso, ngk, or ntk. I usually recommend oem brand for any clutch, engine, or sensors.

Hey did you figure out what the issue is ? I’ve been having it for a year or so like that ! Within like 10-15 km the pre- Vtec performance drops drastically! But once Vtec kicks in it seems to be normal (FD2) Just got back from the dealership and they have no clue either! Mines running a Hondata Flash pro that’s about all the mods

And the MAF sensor is what I stated before you guys assumed what it was. It’s really not that much work, it’s small stuff. Even if I did do the frank, I can buy a k24 for like $700-$800. Since I only need the block, I’d sell the k24 head, rrb mani, my k20 block, and most of the other parts. Problem is, I have no where to install the motor right now, that’s why I’m doing small things. It’s cool, think what you want. The majority of you have no idea of some of the moves I’ve been making lately, but that’s alright. Swaps in exhaust doesn’t really matter because if you do the math $120+$300+$100+$150= about $700... now that’s a lot, but you need to realize that I sold three of those to get money back, $250+$100+$100= $450. The difference is $250... Not like I broke the bank. Never swapped my header btw. Hey man, at the end of the day, there’s other 8th gen channels you can go watch 🤣🤷🏼‍♂️

And the Si is a “budget build” that’s why I’m building it “cheap”. I’ve stated that numerous times in my vids, etc

Doesn’t matter what power adders you have, if your air fuel ratio isn’t correct or reading properly, that’s how other issues start to occur. Better to be safe than sorry 🤷‍♂️

Try coil packs first... usually when coil packs fail they = knock and a cel

@@keepitcool5162 nah, i have gone around town with my car man. Changed injectors, did my valves, timing chain, plugs, went back to stock intake then back to my CAI. My fuels trims are a bit better now hanging around -15 and it leans out once there is about 50 percent load above 3000 rpms but if you fix it let me know lol.

Yes it did. My maf fried out due to something being stuck inside it

@@TheGerbsteve Had similar issue on my 08 civic as well with something in my MAF sensor giving bad idle sometimes felt like it was gonna stall, cleaned it out, bad idle better but still revving up and down at idle sometimes with some slight jerking while cruising. bought a new one from Rockauto and problem solved

@@llilliliilliil the mad doesn't require anything else to do. Change it and see if it fixes the problem.my 08 civic also had some weird issue with the steering pressure switch. Worked fine but when pressing the clutch while coasting rpm would be around 1500 rpm then settle as I slowed down. Replaced the switch and perfect now

@@TheGerbsteve thanks for your reply sorry it's been almost a year now I solved this issue. For me, it was the ECU. Little did I know that the car computer can do this.

You can try cleaning it... Could be MAF, intake/hose leak

@@TheGerbsteve i just cleaned it and no check engine light "yet". I did take the plug off in the Maf sensor and it did not turn off. And sometimes my airfuel will jump from 14 to 16 or 17

Seems like the sensor itself may be done man. Same thing happened to me. My car stayed on when I un plugged the maf. When i drove the car, air fuel would jump up to 17/18, which is horrible. And lastly, my car was choppy and laggy when accelerating. Change the sensor.
