It is not absolutely necessary, but I would highly recommend doing it. You will eliminate any chance of shorting out anything

+Johnny Chaka In my experience u can do 2 things. 1-if your running lights are on when u put in the aftermarket stereo, pull e brake1 or 2 clicks, (no more-this way e-brake is not actually activated)lights should turn off 2-test wire by wire to see if theres a short, either on the dimmer or one of the ignition wires...

I wouldn't spend extra cash either bro. Hondas are easy fix. Check your hazards. (You know, your emergency lights, the red button) more than likely it isn't plugged in right or at all. Check back with me. Let me know how it goes. Good luck!

You should check your red wire you probably connected it to the battery. Just make sure it is connected to your ignition and not to a power source maybe you might want to splice it onto the yellow one as well, please let me know how it goes! Good luck!!!

1. Take out your old stereo 2. Match the wire colors on your new stereo to the new wiring harness 3. Plug it 4. Enjoy!

+Marco Rosales I have a orange/white and solid orange wire on my new harness I bought and on my new stereo's harness wires, there is no orange/white or solid orange wire. So do I just not do anything with those two extra wires?

So just step back, relax, and think about The big picture… You will have two wires for the front driver speaker, two for the front passenger, two for the rear driver side speaker , two for the passenger side rear speaker, thats 8 right? If the colors don't match its ok. You can test them out pair by pair. The ones youHAVE to get right are these: a red(+) black (-) and yellow(ign) Sometimes the wiring harness are wrong, so good luck. Please let me know if it all works out

I just re-read your comment. Sometimes you have extra ones because some of those wires are for back up camera, e-break, amp, etc.

Ok thanks I got it all figured out and working. I also had another question. My two rear speakers will not work. I checked the harness and all all correctly connected. I think it is something with the actual speakers in the rear themselves because I don't remember them working at all. Do you have any advice or video to help me solve this issue? Thanks
