Another week and another huge step closer to having the CR250R fully restored and ready to ride.
In todays video its mainly about bolting new and restored parts on the the beautifully painted frame so there really isn't too much to describe unless you want to read through a huge page of how i prepped and fastened all the nuts and bolts.
A brief summary for the video would be the carb and airbox were fitted along with there vent hoses and overflow drains the filter isn't oiled as of yet but i will get to that. The electrics were put into place and tested for continuity, earthing and proper spark timing all of which im happy to say is spot on. The cooling system has been recommissioned too with the water pump being sorted in a previous episode and now it has all now silicone hoses aswell as totally restored and pressure cleaned radiators so the engine should run lovely and cool. Last on the list was the re-packing and fitting of the exhaust with new springs and seals to hopefully there wont be any spooge leakage from the expansion chamber where it meets the cylinder and that about covers it for this episode.
Until next time stay safe,
Enjoy

I tend to view many different motor repair/renovation channels. You have always ranked at the top of the list for me but i have only just realized why that is. You give off a relaxing vibe to all your videos because all we hear is the sound of a rachet click, the silence of a screw driver, the beep of a torque wrench and a cool Scottish accent! Not a noisy power tool in sight! Thanks for uploading, great channel, great content.

It amazes me that so many factory parts are still available for a bike as old as this. It gives me hope for when I restore one myself.

Such attention to detail. The gaps between the bar clamps, the overflow / drain pipes cut to the same length and everything correctly torqued up. The high standards that I aim for but rarely achieve.

I must admit, when you started to talk about the exhaust packing in the last video, I was stunned. I never had an inkling that the exhausts were repacked on these. Learn something new every time with you.
@RRCRestoration
@RRCRestoration 2 года назад
Yeah overtime the packing especially in a two stroke gets all gummed up with oil and carbon and cant absorb sound waves effectively anymore and you end up with a horrible sounding and very loud annoying 2 stroke, 4 strokes don't tend to gum up with oil but they do produce more heat so tend to burn and blow out the packing so again you end up with a very loud and annoying bike haha

Honda designed the bar clamps to be no gap at the front and any gap is on the back, so rotational forces don't allow the bars to roll back. the Clamps are milled uneven with a step, and that is why they have the punch mark on the front

Re: handlebar clamps. I always tighten the front first then the back. I think I might have read to to it that way in a Haynes manual many moons ago, I can't think of any advantage to doing it that way now but am happy to blindly follow guidance from anywhere. I wouldn't use a torque wrench either but if I owned a Snap-on torque wrench that may change. I'd probs use it as often as I could. I've only just found your channel, it's right up my street so I don't know why You Tube algorithms have taken so long to get me here (God help us when AI finally takes over). The attention to detail is fantastic, I constantly sit in judgement and on the odd occasion I think I might have caught you out, you go on to prove me wrong. Thanks
