The Honda CRF250L (model designation MD38) is a dual-sport motorcycle, part of the Honda CRF series, manufactured by Honda for their global market. It was first released in 2012 for the 2013 model year.
It combines a high-efficiency, fuel-injected DOHC single-cylinder counterbalanced engine, and electric starter with a comfortable, neutral seating position, headlight, taillight, turn signals, mirrors, EPA and California Air Resources Board compliant exhaust system.
In 2021 it was replaced by Honda CRF300L. The engine was replaced in order to be compliant with EURO 5 emissions standard.
Honda CRF300L, Balance is the key when riding any motorcycle. And we’re not talking about just balancing on two wheels: We’re talking about the balance between size, weight, power and handling that makes some bikes great-like the new Honda CRF300L. Based on our previous CRF250L, for 2021, it gets a larger engine with more torque and a whole host of chassis and suspension refinements. What you end up with is one of the best-balanced bikes ever for on- and off-road use. Perfect for weekend trail rides, it’s also among the best choices ever for commuting or urban transportation. And if you’re looking for a version with a windscreen and Dakar-inspired bodywork for a little more weather protection, make sure you check out our new CRF300L Rally.
Hello my name is Andrew, My family and I love powersports. Just something about the feel of freedom and power you get from a bike or ATV. On this channel you will find content for the Honda 300L as well as our journey we take together in the world of power sports.

after debating for months between a 250 or 300, i just couldnt justify the $7300+ out the door for a new 300 (tax, title, lic, dest, setup, doc fees). instead I found a beauty 17 CRF250L ABS with an EJK tuner, a full FMF exhaust, new rubber, with only 3K miles, and like showroom new condition. i stole it for $4300. i put another $800 in it for the suspension and shes PERFECT! so total...$5100. the 300 needs all the same stuff (tires, tuner, pipe, suspension)....about $9000 all said and done. the 50cc's (and its really only 37cc) isnt worth 4 grand. the best part about the 300 is everybody dumping their 250 for a steal.

Been riding since 11 years old. 65 now and bought a CRF300L back in 2021. Great bike for the money. Had a DR 650 in the past. I liked the grunt, but it was top heavy. The 300L is so much more manageable. I do have a couple Harley’s for the street riding. Ride safe brother!

It's funny you say that I find a lot of older riders prefer this bike because of it's weight and suspension. A lot of people go to a 300L from a KLR650 ect.

In Connecticut USA you can't find either of these bikes - new or used. Last week I went to New Jersey, (thanks Edward! at that shop in Hamburg NJ) & picked up a 250L that had been traded in. Only 200 miles on the odo, hasn't had it's first oil change yet. The title came in today's mail, so should be on the road tomorrow! In two miles riding in my back yard, I determined that my 66 year old butt is going to like the soft suspension.

Excellent video and comparison. Had a 2013 250L for 5 years. Added several mods. Didn’t like the 5 speed tranny but I learned to use it. Bought a Bonneville T120 for a replacement. Been missing off roading ever since. Am considering the 300L now. Also looking at the Ducati Desert Sled, but that’s a different animal. Your video has helped a lot! Thanks Daniel.

Excellent comparison video. I bought a slightly used 250L this past January and I like it. I’ll probably end up with a 300L eventually, because everything I hear or read about the improvements over the 250 makes me think it would be a better bike for me. I look forward to more videos. New sub.

Thank you for this review, as I was very curious about how they would compare. I currently own a 2014 250L and aside from the extremely uncomfortable, stock seat, I have no complaints. I purchased a Seat Concepts low comfort seat, since I'm 5' 4", and it made it so much better. I do mostly back roads, dirt and gravel roads, but not too many trails as we don't have them available close by. Wish we did as that's what I grew up riding on

I just picked up my CRF300L on Friday. I was lucky enough to find a dealer close by who had one. I still had to drive 3hrs to get it but I think it was worth it. The only problem is there is still too much snow on the ground here and I am playing the waiting game. Watching your videos all the time just to try and ease the itch to ride lol. I traded my CRF250F trail bike for this because I wanted more versatility. I can't wait to give this a good try! Thanks for the awesome vids sir!

I've ridden both of the rally's in stock form the 300 just felt like a refined 250 it didn't blow my 🧦 off they both struggle on the 🛣️ especially where I live in Phoenix the suspension is still EXTREMELY soft the 286 motor feels nice for what it is but I don't feel that it's as much of a gain as it would be if they put something like a 305cc or something a significant jump with a whole new motor would b so nice. I just want to see Honda jump ahead of the competition rather than always be lagging behind a little bit. I give it to him they're not lagging behind and reliability or anything like that but it would just be nice cuz I kno they're capable of it... (MORE) 🏍️💨💯👍👍

This review was tremendously helpful man. I have been looking at getting rid of my ZX10R and getting another dual sport and have been having a hard time deciding which one to get. I have always loved Hondas because I feel they are some of the most reliable bikes ever made. I thought about getting the Crf450RL but then realized that seems to be mostly just a dirtbike motor with a street legal setup (I mean what other street legal bike has 800 mile oil changes??) I think the CRF300L might be the sweet spot for me in terms of reliability, road use, and offroad use. Thanks for the great review man, you get a sub from me!

The 300L and 450RL are 2 completely different bikes here is some things to consider. The 300 is better in tight single, the 450 is terrible at this, it has huge flame out issues. But the 450 is much faster in open areas. the seat height of the 300L is 35" the 450RL is 2" taller. The 450RL has much better suspension for heavy offroad conditions. MSRP for the 300L is $5,249 MSRP for the 450RL is $9,999 Oil changed on the 450RL is every 600 miles on the 300L every 8,000miles. Valves on the 450RL ever 1800 miles on the 300L 15,000 miles.

(Covid delays). Just not 100% sure if the F was for me, ( as a novice senior trail rider). This video made me think maybe the 300L will do just fine. The only issue I might have is the weight. I will look into it , maybe you can share some advise. Thanks

What do you think of the abs feature on this bike? Will it get in the way when trail riding? I have a hard time deciding if it’s worth it. Also how much improvement in terms of power delivery do you get from the rs4? I had it on my 250l and it cleaned up the flat spot at lower rpms

@@thomasr7552 so the ABS is great. You can turn it off with just a quick button push. The Yoshimura pipe really changes the bike. I did a whole video about the exhaust then I did a couple videos with the exhaust after the ECU.

Thanks for the excellent video... the thing that baffles me is that you said 300L has shorter low gears compared to 250L, yet engine has longer stroke/torque. As I understand, it is more convenient to have a lot of low end torque off-road so that you can stay in same gear longer (play with throttle) while dealing with ups and downs of the the track (Tenere 700 for instance), yet shorter low gears would mean you are forced to shift more frequently. These two design changes in 300L seem contradictory for off-road situations...am I missing a point here?

Andrew please share your source for the remapped ECU. I just installed a Moto-X exhaust on the 300L and I have an EJK ordered. I’ve had the same exhaust on the Rally since May without fuel changes without any issues but I’d really like to have the timing advanced for 93 octane. The Moto-X has been flawless so far and weighs 7 pounds less than the stock pipe and can.

Absolutely.. you've removed the negative feedback loop between your body and the chassis over rough ground. It's one of the first things a good offroad instructor teaches. Sometimes people also think standing lowers the COG (which is doesn't). Being seated in certain situations though is also correct technique.

With an aftermarket upgrades of my 2013 crf250L, installing an EJK, Q4 FMF exhaust and mega bomb exhaust pipe, K&N airfilter, with 14 & 45 sprocket, YSS rear shock, I don't think so the new 300l can beat my upgraded 250l, I have encountered stock 300l in the road but they are just left behind with jps measurement my 250L can reach a top speed of 150 km/hr. I don't know with an upgraded 300L how much maximum speed can attain.

Yeah I mean it sounds like you have a really nice 250l. The real thing is tho that all that done to the 300L makes it much better. It has a much higher ceiling and is a bit lighter on top of it. When you ride them back to it feels a good deal lighter particularly in the front end. Funny part is I was just on a 250l this week lol. So it's cool to read a comment on thos video today.

In that case I would put a reservation ($100) on a 300L on the dealer and plan to have it by next riding season. I had my reserved at March and got it in just but that's just because that when they got it, it's not like you can order it to come to you. You just get them when they have them come in.
