I don't want to sound like a troll, but ... if you continue to ride this way you'll be out of clutch in no time. This type of road can easily be taken with 15-20 mph. If you feel unsure in the stability of the bike due to the rocks, the thing is that the slower you go the more easier it is to fall down. The momentum and the constant throttle keep your front lightly loaded and easy to direct in this type of conditions. If you're new to the dirt-bike experience I guess those things will come with time. Good luck And keep the adventures going ! :)

Awesome route and scenery. Definitely looks like a small bike vs adv route.

Some areas are quite primitive and rough.

Thanks for the great series on Coppery Canyon and a peak at the 450L. It looks like a one tooth smaller countershaft sprocket would have made the trip much more enjoyable for you and your electric start (or a Rekluse clutch). I've been seriously thinking about the CRF450L but for this ride that you guys did, my DR-650 or your KLR would have been a much better choice (based on your video footage) and so much more comfortable. It looks like that tall saddle height is also a "grunter" for getting on and off.

I was missing the Rekluse that I have on my WR450F but once that I got used to feathering the clutch everything was good except for my Carpal Tunnel. The routes would be doable on KLR but not fun. Alot of the areas were washed out unimproved and extremely rough. I now have the Seat Concepts seat which is very comfy. The stock seat is comfy soft but quite narrow.

The beginning part dropping down to the river looks like Apache Trail here in AZ.

When was this filmed? Do you have any more info on this route or a GPS track? I am aware of a couple routes between Bato and Urique but this one is new to me. I am heading to CC in January in a 4wd and would love any info you could share. Thanks.

Is their a specific GPS I need to map out deep forest. Map quest does not get the job done.

Nice ride Dr. ! How do you find the suspension on the 450?
@DrDualSport

Suspension seemed to work quite well right out of the box!

Did you run the stock tires on this trip?
@DrDualSport
@DrDualSport 5 лет назад
The CRF450L has MotoZ Mtn Hybrid (worked well) and the 250 ran the stock tires and they were crappy.

That 450L stalls every couple of minutes! And not just in this video. Combination of too-high gearing and unsorted (lean) EFI.

I should get a few miles on and then see if someone makes a kit to change the mapping. I know they have one for the CRF 250L. I had to adapt to using a lot of clutch control to avoid stalling and then it was okay. My hands eventually go numb after riding so far so I was really missing the Rekluse that I have on my WR450.

I noticed the flame outs as well - definitely lean

I have been thinking about modding the mapping.

@@DrDualSport Yeah, I think that some aftermarket solutions are entering the market. Good luck!

Vortex ecu and a pipe. The snatchy lean mapping is a pain at slow speeds

What do you think of the crf250 vs 450?
@DrDualSport
@DrDualSport 5 лет назад
They are both great. If you need power and speed the 450 is best. At my age and skill either one is OK!

Looks kinda sketchy there. Hope you don't run into any gangs or whatever..

We did run into some members of the Cartel with AK47's hanging on their shoulders. They told us that no-one had any reason to go down a certain road. Fine with us and not our route. We think they were doing "Harvest Time".
