In this video I will show you how I do a compression test on all four cylinders. And I will show you that one cylinder is low on psi and only one can assume that there’s damage internally in the motor and to ultimately find out what is the issue you’ll have to go through multiple diagnosis is to find out exactly what the problem is and ultimately opening up the motor you’ll find out what you need to find out.

My timing belt snapped recently. I just replaced it, marked the cams and crank timing, torqued the tensioner, and double checked the valve clearances. I got everything ready for the cylinder compression test, I followed instructions and this is what I got: Cylinder #1 and #2 are at 200, cylinder 3# and #4 are at 190... this is good news? "Dry" test so I'm guessing a "wet" test would reflect compression a bit higher? Thanks for your helpful video btw. 👍

That’s actually great!! That’s healthy compression, are you having any issues with the car starting now?

As for “wet” and “dry” testing that’s a good test to see if your psi goes up on any cylinder that is low on compression. Let’s say cylinder 1 was at 100 psi DRY then you put oil in cylinder 1 and it jumps to 140 psi then you would assume that piston rings are bad causing the loss in compression. I say put it all back together and get it running. Check for any issues after doing repairs. I fixed a prelude H22 the belt snapped at 30mph I took on the job replaced timing belt kit and brought it back to life so there’s hope for you my friend! Good luck 💪

@@builtjfilion934 I got a chance to take it out and drive it today and I must say I was very confused and disappointed, the car felt hesitant and lacking power. I'm confused! I cuádruple checked the timing marks over and over, i rotated the crank like a hundred times, yet this is the outcome..? I've never done this type of repair before but after reading through a number of forums and watching instructional videos like yours i developed the confidence to try and fix it myself. I strongly believe I messed up somewhere along the way but I'm completely puzzled as to where exactly, I can't pinpoint what needs to be addressed.. I'm strongly leaning to the timing mark on the crank is off maybe by a tooth due to my inexperience in the angle you're suppose to stand at to confirm the aligning lines.
