God that had to be embarrassing for the EVO driver, he had everything going for him and still couldn't shake a naturally aspirated 1980's hatchback. That was some great driving.
Multiple cars slowed down the EVO and the EVO driver didn't know the track as well. Not surprising at all. Experience is what made the difference here.
2:02 First of all old Hondas at least get significantly unstable after around 180 kmh. Car is very light and it's FWD so all weight is basically at front. Lift off oversteer is very common with CRX's. Did you lift your foot of the Gas at all when it got unstable? Secondly i would keep those windows shut at such speeds. It will affect the airflow negatively. Car is very light so any indicator will affect how it steers. Even very windy day will affect badly. At worst scenario the car won't simply go straight without constant counter steering. And i would say that is one of the most dangerous parts of the track for CRX at least. High speed corner/bump. Cars have lifted off the ground there. I remember some video of white Renault. It was bad. You were simply at the limits of the car in that corner. Car is extremely light at back so it will go like that when you push it like that in high speeds.
Thx for the comment and the recommendations! Yes you are right, its very lights and especially at Schwedenkreuz. At that time I was not very experience and now I am more careful and found the better curve even driving at higher speed there. What happened is that I was steering left at the bump and releasing the gas pedal. Now only full gas and keeping the steering wheel strait in the bump. As for the windows its somehow does not effect me and driving with closed windows is impossible as it gets extremely hot. Which car do you drive mate?
First of all the phrase "all old Hondas at least get significantly unstable after around 180 kmh" shows clearly u have no idea about Hondas. Secondly CRX's understeer and this is what we see here on mostly... saying CRX's oversteer is idiotic
@@captainjim1010 Once a CRX oversteer you need to be 2x quicker than in most other modern cars as your wheelbase is very short and you have 4 turns lock to lock ;-). CRX is a very demanding car to drive at the limit, I'm impressed how confident Oz was driving. For my taste a bit too aggresive but like he said, he learned a lot since than. Cool video!
I absolutely love your videos!!! Would love to meet up in person so we both could take out CRX's for a nice ride on the Nordschleife. Your driving is simply great.
Great driving mate! I did a 8:28 with my crx ed9 in 2012 and now is like I lived the experience again, I remember how the car behaves in every corner looking at your video. It happened also to me at minute 2:00. That's an "over the crest" corner, and if one doesn't anticipate, the car want's to move arround. Can you tell about the specs of the Crx? Suspension, tyres, etc. Next time I come to the ring (hopefully next sumer) I will come with a K20Z4 unit so I won't be able to continue with the battle of the stock engine fastest Crx on the Ring, but its a lot of fun getting near to all those high power cars with a tiny 1.6 engine, I know the feeling. Thanks for sharing and compliments mate.
belmon125 hi ;) thx for the nice comment, yes crx is a great car and so fun to drive. 8:28 is a very good result for d-series engine, so you might be a very good driver. My best one is 8:17 which I assume is the fastest from the stock b16a1 engines. I have got h&r coilovers, rollcage, toyo tyres. K20 should be very fast, gsend me a message when you are at the ring
Wow my friend I'm impressed by the way you handle your car which is not an easy one I might add & your time set to Green Hell, great driving!!! 2:00 death said to you "come to papa" but you fooled him, good for you...lol
i had something similar happen to me in my civic on my way to work.i was late and the road was wet..i hit a ridge in the tarmac ,my back wheels went light but my front left hit the kerb and suddenly i was going backwards down the road at the same speed.. i was at the top of third gear when it happened and no abs so all my wheels just locked up..i managed to avoid crash and even managed to steer backwards round a long downhill bend by releasing the brake off and on..
@@ozzikmaks do you Think that the car were faster with 270 hp vor 382 HP. What you think is the fastest lap posible with who many HP in some point musst by a limet who to mutch HP is unproduktiv
8:27 lap time? In CRX B16 Stock👍 so only 21 seconds slower than Focus RS 350hp turbocharged 4x4. Looking up other times Sabine set lap record in Sierra Cosworth with 8:16. Thats some awesome driving. Thought i heard people say these old CRX mk2 poor handling by todays standards and other hot hatches of the day. Really need to get mine on the road
