Such a nice classic bike, she's a beaut! Good job freshening it up. Would definitely like to see another episode. You've got a new sub 😀 we'll slowly work our way through your videos. Keep up the great content. *T4S*
Nice motorcycle. I have been restoring one of these that my grandpa had bought back in the 70's. I can say that these bikes require alot of refabricating to be done on them for there parts, besides the ones you can still get that are similar to other bikes.
Not sure how this would apply to a postie bike (but works FINE on a 2006 Holden VZ ute !!!) - "Kerosene Flush". For a neglected engine, add KEROSENE (~ 20% engine oil capacity, so in this case around 200 mils?) and idle for 10-15 mins. Can clean up an engine beautifully. I was a bit sceptical of this "old farmers trick", but I was facing a hefty repair bill (likely a full engine rebuild) on my ute - it was blowing smoke (exhaust) badly and burning 1.5 - 2 ltrs oil per 1000 km. I drained the oil and replaced the filter, for 6.5 ltr oil capacity I added 5 litres oil and 2 litres kerosene and let it idle for 20 mins. What came out was BAD. Repeated the process (new filter, 5 litres oil, 2 litres kero) and ran it for 40 mins with a couple of 5 minute bursts at 3,000 rpm. Came out "not quite as bad" that time. A new fresh filter and 6.5 litres oil - NO EXHAUST SMOKE at all, seems to be more responsive, and oil burn has dropped from around 2 litres to HALF a litre per 1,000 km !!!
Lovely bike. You said you'd learned on it and crashed it dozens of times. You obviously did a poor job of that, since it's clearly still in one piece and running nicely. Must try harder. Nasty oil yes.
