My honda CX500 daily riders biggest problem is the state of the carburetors. In order to clean them I need to take out the slowjet. There is a special way to do that which I learned from watching Marco Becker his videos.
This is his website: marcobecker.nl/
So in this video I will show his technique of removing the slowjets from a carburetor of a Honda Cx500. Also a tip about the jetsizes because the fuel of 1980 is different from the fuel we run now. The video is long and a bit nerdy.. so enjoy honda-cx-500-nerds!

Great job - good idea with the backing that out with a screw. I understand how nerve wrecking that would be - I screw things up all the time as well

Hi There - What were the symptoms you were trying to fix? I have a serious flat spot in the mid range and think it is carb related. Are you familiar with that issue? Thanks, Alan

The slowjets are for idle - thats was a problem with the bike at that time. Most poor running comes from dirty carbs (or vacuumleak). Also be sure to check the timing of the valves and your sparkplugs.

Beautiful. Thanks A drop of WD 40 or penetrating spray may make it easier for pulling it out with the 3 mm screw Thanks for this presentation

For the slow jets that you pulled out did you install them back? or you get new ones?, the idle screws should have: spring, flat washer and a tiny o-ring, I didn't see the washers nor the o-rings, did I miss something?

Yes, pulled them out, cleaned them (they were very clogged up) and cleaned the port they came from. Then reinstalled them . I gave Both a small tap to make them sit in the port. The mixture screw was done wrong, but later i noticed my mistake and i did it as you described here also! Very good of you to spot that 👍 !

i am having trouble removing the jet that is screwed, not the jet that has the 7mm wrench removeable. What kind of flat head should i get? most around me are too fat

Hi, maybe a stupid anwser but… keep trying to find one that really fits snuggly and perfect. If its to small you may not have enough force to free it and/or even strip it. Too big may give to much force and break the jet or even the carbbody. So keep searching and trying. I dont have a specific brand or model.

I learnt ( second time around ). I got a number 2 flat head screwdriver. The part just above the blade was too wide to fit, so I filed the sides down till it fit. I had used a smaller screwdriver on the other carb prior to that, but as it was too small it damaged the slot.

should the back screws not be turned out two turns ??

He Allanhughes7859, thanks for watching. What do you mean with " the back screws" - if you refer to the idle-screws then you are correct. I believe its 2,5 from factory, but you alter this according to the carbs and engine needs.
