@vandehoosie a good spoiler usually only weighs about 10-15lbs...the fact that its in the rear is a plus because like i said before it balances the weight distribution just that little much more. the fact that the spoiler "slowing the car" may suffice, but what you lose at the top end is not very much, and to sacrifice 3 or 4 mph which really doesnt matter, over better handling capabilities is something that is not "terrible"...spoilers arent only used for the drive wheels of a car,
@supersoni126 ehh i still beg to differ on the balancing the weight distribution because in del sols the weight is completly centered in the middle and balanced out because of the heavy supports because of the targa top. so there is thick solid metal thats pushing the car down towards the middle so adding the spoiler would give it oversteer which would in turn decrease your handling.

@PalmpieXXX yeah and so would spinners from walmart right? that wing probally flaps around in the wind giving zero downforce anyways..wings are for fast rwd awd cars not fwd cars. unless this car is running 10s or faster it doesnt need it. everyone has their own opinion and everything the owner did to the car is for him because he built it i was simply saying that wing gives zero affect to the car.
lol, so your saying this has a loss of 50hp? 126crank doesnt equal 78whp, something is wrong with this motor as the owner indicated, the timing belt was off...
@Wolkersdorfer2 having less weight in the front on a fwd car reduces understeer...its not stupid to have a spoiler on a fwd car...if you knew anything about aerodynamics then youd know that it indeed is not stupid to have a spoiler on fwd...when you add downforce to the rear on a fwd car you balance out the weight closer to 50/50 which is optimal for track racing...
hey i have a 95 honda del sol. d16z6 but its auto. i took it to a dyno i had 89 hp at the wheels and 72ft torque. all i have is a short ram intake, 2.5 inch straight pipe and DC 4-2-1 header. what kind of lip and side skirt is that?????????????? i like those wheels, what are those.
@PalmpieXXX ive been racing. and ive always spectated alot of races as well. ive seen torque monster supras corner perfectly without a wing..thats a rwd car with alot more power then this del sol. maybe upgrade ur suspension first :)
@supersoni126 many professional fwd racers have spoilers..and THEY know their shit compared to both of us combined...and rhe fact that u said it provides no power is copmletely irrelavent, since whe could a spoiler add power?...and a spoiler makes ALOT more downforce than you believe..idk where ur getting your info, or your theories..but i think you need to go back to basics or take a physics class or something..what do you think creates lift on a jet? its the same concept...their both airfoils
@supersoni126 actually the weight of the spoiler slowing the car down to the amount of down force its actually supplying is probally terrible. its providing no extra power and giving it very little aerodynamics. spoilers are used to apply downforce to the drive wheels of a car no to the non drive end of the cars. maybe your the one who doesnt know anything about aerodynamics just sayin.
with a car this light if you race it around closed tracks you run the risk of the rear tires kicking out because without the spoiler there is no downforce and no weight on the rear tires. So alot of closed track cars have spoilers, regardless of FWD or not. I mean, if thats his reasoning, idk. I'm just saying that the spoiler would help you take corners a little faster and shave some time off your lap times
The D16Z6 makes more CRANK hp than that stock. Manufacturer hp ratings are never at the wheels. Don't kid yourself into thinking that n/a single slammer will ever make any power.
