I think if you're choosing a Mk1 Gold Wing it's because you like the bike. I believe enthusiasts love them because they have great heritage. I reckon it must be one of only a few bikes still going since launch back in 1975. I think we value them more highly in the UK as opposed to the US and Europe, but Honda did make a lot which will affect values. The 1976 Ltd should be worth more due to smaller numbers but not by much.
I would echo what @successshared has said. You would need to find a very early numbers '75 bike, or a '76 Ltd. The US market doesn't seem to value these bikes as much as the UK. You never know though, who thought Yamaha FS1E's would command as much money as they currently do 🙂
