Honda have a lot to learn from other manufactures, you do this via the infotainment unit in so many other cars. They really need to work on the infotainment unit, it's a pile of garbage to say the least and this is coming from someone who just purchased a 2019 HR-V the only reason I went Honda was due to the interior space in this category.

ya mate ive been driving my hrv for close to a year now and the infotainment unit feels really cheap especially since ive seen much better units in cheaper cars.

On my ‘15 CR-V (and all other model years after) it’s done by scrolling through the menus on the small upper display of the infotainment system. I dunno why they had to make it complicated on the HR-V.

How do you shift from P to something else while the car is off?

Two ways: there's a small cover next to the shifter to over ride the interlock. Pull it out of park while the car is on, then turn the car off. You'll be in Accessory, but you can do the procedure.

This only works when opening the door from the inside. Would be nice to have it also work when entering, so that passengers don't have to wait for you to manually unlock the other doors.

2019 this is all done in dash. You just select what you want it to do, and done. That being said, I have been having problems with my keyfobs randomly not working. Will not lock or unlock. Door rocker switches don't work either. Can't open the hatch because there is no key unlock. If I go for a drive and come back, everything works fine. Lock the doors, then wake up in the morning and nothing works again.

Mine is headed in this week for a series of electrical gremlins, Started with the key fob not causing the horn to beep when locking the car, then the battery going dead, then the radio losing power.

@@paulkoerber3932 mine was finally fixed and it was something very simple. There was a fuse that was loose in the engine compartment. The dealership claims they take this particular fuse out for some reason during shipping or something to that affect, and it was not pushed all the way back in when replaced, so it slowly made its way loose.
