0-100 you're making the object move from a stop, with a lot of forces to overcome. From 200-300 your vehicle's mass is already moving so the power can act on the vehicle more efficiently.

@Stimpy&Ren That's why Honda only uses Exhaust VTEC on their Turbo engines. Easier spool at low rpm because the valves don't open as much creating a higher pressure, at high RPM allow for more airflow by opening up the VTEC cam. The intake is just a normal static cam.

You don't get there with a near stock valvetrain for sure... You'd need mechanical lifters, springs and so on. It's as far from stock as you can get so you could practically do this with any engine.

A driver that had never experienced a VTEC Honda doesn't know what is a really engine ! I was lucky to have a EG9 with its B16A2, I use to say that the VTEC compiles 3 in 1: first engine under 5000 rpm, second after 5000 til 7000rpm and the third and last one over 7500 til 9000 rpm... And it was stock, only an exhaust by the best you could have at this time, I talk about a Milltek stainless steel pipe, that transfomed my little Honda in a roaring monster. Oh sweet little beast, I miss you...
