I have driven this new Honda Jazz Hybrid nearly a month in Singapore now. Although there is no mountain to test the car in Singapore, this hybrid can go up high level multiple story carpark effortless. To me, the suspension setting is comfortable. The car can handle curves pretty well too. Overtaking can be enjoyable. Even the ECON mode is drivable. So far, I have yet found any shortcoming of this car except it can’t fit in my 700c road bike without taking out the front wheel of my bike (unlike my old Honda Stream). Most importantly, this Honda Jazz Hybrid has costed me S$102,000 that is more than double of the selling price in Hong Kong ☹. It is great to learn the review from TopGear Magazine HK 極速誌.
Although it may not be as good as the new Mazda cars, this hybrid Jazz has mitigation on understeering control by taping on the front brake slightly and automatically. It feels comfortable when going into a curve for daily driving.
The Auto Hold function will be activated after the Auto Hold button has been depressed and after the Auto Hold Ready message is shown on driver's VDU. The function will be maintained until the driver has cancelled it or after the car has been switched off. Once zero speed has been detected, the Auto Hold will kick in disregard the position of the gear selected. It is not necessary to step on the brake pedal during a traffic stop because the car won't creep forward. The rear brake lights will still be illuminated under Auto Hold. When the gas pedal is depressed, the Auto Hold will be released automatically and the car will move out naturally even on up gradient. If Auto Hold has not be activated, this car will creep forward in "D", "B" or backward in "R" as per an usual AT gear box. Somebody may like to switch off the Auto Hold function to allow the car to creep without depressing the gas pedal during parking.
@@cwfsc I have experimented on my car Mazda 3 2021 and confirmed with car manual. Zero speed itself won’t trigger Auto Hold. I have to depress the brake pedal a little deeper until the “Hold” indicator lights up in dashboard display. The question is whether I should leave the gear in D mode or N mode when Auto Hold is active. 龍sir already answered.
@@chongjiunkit3901 Very correct. Zero speed detection by itself won't work. Brake padel must be depressed till zero speed have been detected. I guess there may be a timer control of a second after zero speed too. Nevertheless, I don't find a need of depressing the brake padel deeper to trigger the brake hold. ,龍Sir hsd shared that auto brake hold is managed by ABS. To avoid overheating (may be the ABS system), it is better turn off the auto brake hold during traffic jam.
@@chongjiunkit3901 Just leant that Auto Brake Hold would automatically hold the brake pressure that you have just applied. This may explain why your car need to give the brakes up to certain degree of pressure to activate the Auto Brake Hold. If the brake pressure under Auto Brake Hold is not sufficient to hold the car, ABS will kick in to increase the brake pressure. I also leant that Auto-Hold can only be activated if you’re inside the vehicle with the doors closed and seatbelt fastened (I've yet verify that).
I find this Hybrid Jazz has no Blind Spot Monitoring function. Have tried using the ACC several times but the steering is a bit "late" to my driving preference. ACC Braking and acceleration are a bit abrupt to me when the front car has changed lane or another car has cut in. The ACC (one of the Honda Sensing function) is more suitable for touring on a freeway. Alerts on hand-hold on steering wheel during ACC are frequent. (I can now confirm the driver must control the steering wheel when using ACC for this car. It can be a confusion of ACC steering the car when Lane Keeping has been monitored.
For me, I will consider to buy fully electric car. As there is very convenience in Singapore to charge up. I do not get any reason to buy the old fashion hybrid car. Now the gasoline price is extremely high. And the price of electric car is very good and easy for repair.
You may like to switch the driver interface to POWER FLOW to watch the working of the engine animation (video 4:33) for driving the alternator only or on direct drive to the front wheels. Depress the HOME button once (a house icon) from the right hand side of the steering wheel and then turn the selection wheel to choose POWER FLOW display (depress the selection wheel to select a chosen display). I feel the engine is a bit noisy (in high RPM) inside a covered carpark when it is in charging mode. Nevertheless, one won't feel it when on the road due to background noise.
