Hello, Doing a quick pad slap is ok, but it’s only ok. When you wire brush and clean the parts, you are removing the old brake dust from the worn pads which can cause the pads to bind up on the sliders. When you remove,clean and grease the slider pins you are preventing them seizing (which is common) and causing a dragging brake also uneven braking from side to side on the vehicle. A quick pad slap would be carried out at a garage to save (them) time and money, whereas doing the job yourself, you can ensure the job has been carried out thoroughly. Hope this helps 👍

Hello Pad wear depends on mileage and like you say, how heavy your right foot is. The car shown in the vid is my in-laws and is 6 years old but very low mileage and this was the first set of pads that i’m aware of. Brake discs will last many years but will develop a lip around the edge as they wear, and they can warp which will make the car judder when braking. Are you in the uk?

@@barker900 As you are in the uk, if the pads were low they would have been advised on the last mot. So, you know at your last mot they weren’t low enough for the mot inspector to mention it.
