Thank you so much for sharing this video. I've had this clunking sound in my '14 Honda Odyssey for 2 years and now it's GONE!! My husband was able to replace these in 10 minutes
My clunk was from the subframe, I noticed it when accelerating from a stop and when heavy braking. I started noticing the clunk after I had the subframe out of the car when changing the transmission input shaft bearing. A year later, and after replacing nearly everything in the front end with no success, I finally found the issue. Apparently the subframe should be tightened with weight on the tires, not when jacked up. I loosened the 4 -17mm bolts holding it, let the car off the jack stands, then tightened them back up. Clunking is finally gone! Another thing I did was make sure the sway bar was aligned correctly, equal distance from the control arm on both sides - loosen the 2 bushing brackets and use a pry bar to wiggle it left or right as needed. I even paid a mechanic to diagnose the noise, he had me replacing parts unnecessarily. Thanks for video, hopefully my comment will also help someone out there, cheers!
Man thanks so much I changed new front struts still made noises I look at the bars the rubber was broken too so thanks to your help I’m going change these too I think this happen I went to New York City and hit 2 pot holes thanks again
I noticed the noise and took a peek and saw the boot for the front sway bars rubbers were butchered, but damn, that's a hell of a noise for that. Thank God I live in Arizona so it's literally a 15 minute job
Thanks for the video. Do you have to add grease to inflat rubber part? I replaced the sway bar but still have the rattling when going over small bumps.
Thank you so so so much Tsab. I heard a clunking noise so I took it to the dealership but it went away. They couldn’t find the problem. This was 2 months ago. I heard the noise again today and now researching what can the problem be. It sounds exactly how you are describing it and will take it to the dealership tomorrow. Much appreciated. I liked and subscribed and shared your video. Thanks a Billion.
Definitely cutting is the fastest way to deal with the rust. I doubt an angle grinder will fit in there. You may need a die grinder or rotary tool. Being a rust belt mechanic is nothing to envy. Lol!
I hear a noise on my passager side rear wheel area but I can’t describe the sound, it happens Occasionally while driving a tad faster. I nice it after I put a Takeda intake but I don’t think it’s that. It’s a 2019 Honda accord 1.5. It doesn’t sound like a clicking more like a pop or crunch.
Could u put links in description of parts u used and part numbers and year and model of vehicle. Even though u were generalizing that Hondas and Acuras at some point would need this service as it's one main reason for clunking noise. Thanks for the video. Thumbs up.
Meh. There are parts where I prefer to go OEM but SB links? I honestly think you're just throwing money away. There are plenty of excellent quality aftermarket suspension parts. I bought a pair of Moogs for my 2013 Accord. Every build aspect of it was superior to the OEM. Larger diameter, zerk fittings and recessed boots that are less prone to tearing. The idea that OEM is always better is a marketing ploy that auto makers use to sell parts. There are manufacturers out there that are not only meeting OEM standard but exceeding it.
I just got the 2019 Honda Accord and I’m at a little over 4K miles and it is makes a clunking sound from the front, both left and right side but it only makes the sound when I turn into drive ways but not over bumps or dips
amarjot31 let me know how it goes the same thing happened to my 2019 Honda Civic and they had to lemon law it because they literally could not find out where this problem was coming from so they put me in a accord but now the accord is starting to do the same thing and I just don’t wanna go through the same process because it was so stressful and complicated going through the dealer and the car rental spot and talking to everyone but I mean if I have too then I will. I have a service appointment due this Saturday so I’ll mention it too my service rep
All Tsab thanks for the advice but I did it with my brand new 2019 Honda Civic which was worse because you could hear it going over bumps and dips, anyways I took it too the dealership and of course they thought it was the struts so they replaced the entire struts in front however it was still making that noise so I took it back and then they go on too say it is the sway bar hitting up against metal however “it should be fine to drive” so I drove off thinking okay it can’t be that bad but then it got to the point where I couldn’t take the noise and obviously something was wrong with my car but I guess they thought I was just some dumb 19 yr old kid, anyways at this point I was MAD and I was like I’m not leaving until my car gets fixed so long story short they put me in a rental for about week and call me up saying that they are just going to give me a whole new car because the car was “defective” so when I went to pick up my new 2019 civic they didn’t even have the same one I had before so they put me in a accord for the same monthly payment and now my accord is making that same noise so I guess I’ll find out what’s going to happen this Saturday because I have an appointment to do an oil change so I’ll definitely let my service rep know.
All Tsab: You are just great. I was looking for this. Civic 2008 I was planning to buy had the clunking noise and I was concerned. I feel confident now.
I have an 04 odyssey with rattles coming from the middle to the back and checked the sway bars and stabilizer bushings and were in good shape. Any suggestions. Great video 👍
All 4 linkage shouldn't take more than 1 hours. I don't how much shop charged for It. Simple replacement shouldn't be more than $150 i guess. I think you should do it yourself so Simple much Simple than tires rotation.
Man those clunking noises can drive a guy nuts when everything seems tight with several parts already replaced. Only thing i can think of is a break caliper pin on my 02 accord allowing to much slop, even though it feels tight enough. Road bumps causes sounds that is tough to duplicate by just checking parts out manually... dang cars.
I had got sway bar links new ., new brake pads& rotors, new front & back struts, new axle, new tires, new outter tie rods,.. i was wondering when i come to almost a complete stop on my 2002 Honda civic lx. my car makes a weird.. rattling noise. Only when car gets warm..& been driving for awhile it seems..like..what could this be??
Probably a broken or loose exhaust heat shield, you hear it especially well when the car is at idle and no road noise coming from the tires. Check the fasteners when the car is cold or just wiggle the heat shield a bit to see if it's loose and just tighten the fasteners back up.
Hey brother I have had the clunking on the front passenger side and the Honda dealership replacement both struts in the front and it's still like that and the. They were trying to tell me it's cause I used aftermarket brake pads which makes no sense at all cause if that was the case it would be both sides
@@alltsab yeah man I can't figure it out it's when I hit bumps I have the wheel off right now I just grabbed the sway bar link and tried moving it by hand besides a little twist I don't see much play . Both of the struts are Brad new so it can't be them and the sway bar bushing looks OK from where I can see it so I'm lost brother. Unless it can be bad and I can't see it or feel it by hand
Probably your rear bump stops are worn and need to be replaced. On Honda's you have to literally get under the rear part of your tire and look for a thick metal spring, inside that spring is a bump stop with rubber at the end. They dry up and crack and fall apart, especially for a car with a lot of miles on the odometer.
