I picked up a 530ml fuel bottle off Amazon that fits into the under seat compartment nicely. Less than $10. Should get me another 10-20 miles to get some more fuel. Change fuel in bottle every oil change so the fuel doesn't have a chance to go bad. I only run no ethanol gas in my Monkey so I always have fresh fuel around.
Thank you for making this video. As a potential monkey nut, I am enjoying learning about them. Thanks too for taking the effort to film, edit and narrate. Good job!
Are you aware of any rear brake pedal height adjustment? Just picked up my ‘24 Monkey and going through the initial setup after bringing home from dealer. The pedal feels lower than I’m accustomed to. I can’t find any guidance other than to bend the pedal arm which I’d rather not compromise the strength. Thank you in advance.
Nicely done video✅ Heads up on the steering cap bolts. You are meant to tighten the front pair first (20 ft lbs) then the back pair. This clamps the front faces of the clamps tight shut, and leaves a slight gap on the trailing edge. Other tips:- Put a tiny bit of wire insulation tube over the clutch cable return spring where it rubs on the right engine case, before it cuts through the engine paint and starts corrosion. On the frame, in front of the swing arm, there is an 1/8” hole inside a cutout in the frame, dead centre. That hole goes straight into the swing arm pivot bolt cavity, so water gets in and takes the plating off your swing arm bolt, so block the hole and grease the bolt. If you want the electrics to survive for decades, squirt ACF50 into all connectors, into the handlebar switches, ignition switch, and every place you can get it, except the tyres, brakes, footrest rubbers and handlebar grips. Especially do the folded Mudguard/ edges unless you want them to rust out in a few years.... On the ABS model, messing about with tyre and sprocket sizes could cause ABS faults.
I'm definitely getting some type of small motorcycle in 2022. Gas is only gonna go up and up. I need something to go back and forth to work. Point A to B. Honda in my opinion is the best at small engines.!!!
They need to design that seat where it comes off with your key, that way you can keep your phone and money in that compartment when you can't have that stuff on your person, like going swimming or playing some type of a sport.
Thanks for the tips, I have ordered a yellow one the dealership had other colours in stock but no yellow left. I said it had to be yellow LOL and I'm more than happy to wait, Regards from New Zealand :)
I really like your Monkey and I like mine too. I will adjust the handle bars like you demonstrated! I have a 2019 in Nebula Red with ABS. Last but not least I Love your Don’t Tread On Me Flag !!
I’m looking to get one as well, a few people mention the chain is poor quality and needs adjusting every 300 miles, not sure if that is still the case on 2024 models. 🙏
My son and I just bought two new non ABS Monkeys. This was a really helpful video for new owners and very well videoed. Thanks. Oh, and rape whistle??? Whatttt ha..ha.
Great informative video. Camera work was spot on, nice transitions and cuts. It is amazing how small the toolkits are nowadays, used to get a lot more, they were cheap but worked in emergencies.
Hey well ,it helped me out, I'll go adjust my handlebars now, and thanks for the tip on how to open the side cover, just got my monkey 3 days ago. Already falling in love. Thanks for the tips 😀
Perfection. To be memingful, take your Honda Monkey, hook it into your computer, then press Ctrl+Alt+Del. (Please don't try this, it's a joke) But seriously, my sanity is restored. XDD
Nope. Those engines are designed to be reliable. I full throttle mine all the time. Go check out Million Dollar Bogan on RU-vid. He rode one across south Australia pinned wide open in the scorching heat and it took it like a champ!
I just got this to my feed, and the timing couldn't be better. I pick up my 2023 Monkey tomorrow. I got lucky, I got on the waiting list on April 1st, and got a call on April 27th that he had a red one for me. The couple ahead of me decided that it wasn't the right time to buy.
Its funny that in america you still hold a piece of paper in the vehicle (registration) in europe its long gone and everything is on computers and databases. Thanks for the tips tho, i love my monkey its so awesome, and i love the amazing MPG i get, i can travel where i want when i want, without worrying about fuel price 😁
Just got my 2022 yellow monkey from a dealer 750 miles away and spent over 500 bucks in $diesel to get it home. Only disappointment is I just found out that your not supposed to ride in the rain. Living 40 mile south of Seattle, really not an option. Head lamp and instrument gage fogs up. Hopefully a after market can fix it.....
Thank you for an excellent video with great tips. I hope you hav some more. I hope to get one as soon as I sell my XT250. The new 2022 with the 5-speed and oil filter has me drooling.
thank you very much, useful tips, I am tall and the handlebar tip is great, will do he lock tight as well, my bike has ABS so no space.have a great day
OK, on the handlebar bolts the recommended way to tighten them is to tighten the front 2 first then tighten the back 2. There is also a small dent or dot on each clamp that should face forward in case they were removed entirely. YW
It’s a Gadsden flag. The same one that flew when this country fought and won our independence from Britain. But you go right ahead and continue showing your ignorance.
I miss the old days when if trying to reach stuff under the seat all you had to do was just insert the key on a lower side of the seat and just open it up on one side. The seat was on hinges, so you could literally do things with one hand.
Hi, is your right handlebar throttle grip at a lower height than the left handler bar grip? I have a 2019 Red Monkey and on mine the right handle bar grip is positioned about half an inch lower than the left side. It’s almost as if the handlebar shape is not symmetrical. Is yours like this too?
@@GasWorksISO Yea I was not sure so I connected it directly to the battery for today's ride. I don't want to mess up any wires and wind up. So you think I can remove the red connection and wire to whatever is connected to the tail light?
I’m not sure if it’s the red wire, Honda uses some weird color coding on the wires. Your local Honda dealer will be able to pull up a diagram and print it out for you, or you could test the individual wire with a volt meter to find the right one. Another way would be to get a fuse block tap, which any automotive parts store will carry.
