I take out the coolest bike of 2018 for a short test ride. The questions is: Should it replace my Grom?

I used to have a 1991 Honda Monkey Z50J. An amazing little bike, so reliable and easy to maintain. It would start at -20 with the first kick. It wasn't fast but it took me to places cheaply. Oh the memories, I still miss that little bike and I wish I never sold it. Bought it for 600€, renovated it and sold it for 900€. Now a renovated model is cost well over 2000€.

Replace? Why not. Change tyres, mirrors, exhaust and it’s more your style. Personally I don’t like the yellow. I prefer blue, red or black (in that order). Anyway, thanks for sacrificing yourself in those temperatures. ;)

I love testing new bikes especially low CC. When you go from 1000CC and test a 125CC everything becomes so funny, speed, handling everything😂

Hi RJ I have recently passed my CBT at the age 42 lol got a 125cc loving it being on two wheels. I'm do the DAS next year after clocking a few hundred hours on the road. Been watching your videos for a few years now, love them 😎

I would rather see more of the monkey bike than the grom, mostly because Everyone on youtube has a grom. None of the youtubers has a monkey bike. Its a bit more unique.

3699 for a 125 you mean, with an alarm and tracker fitted as standard, less bits to change, better looking, its a no brainer.

5:42 yes I agree it looked more nippier plus the exhaust sound and I love the looks of it than Grom and it is cheaper. I actually went into a Honda dealership earlier

Lol, I love the name and the look of this little chimp. Seems like quite a fun ol bike to take out and just go bananas I'm astounded by how easily visible the numbers on the dash are even in full on sun Sure is a stunner to look at, isn't it? Just putting my eyes on the thing brings a smile. EDIT: 3:00 MLOB KEK, nicely done license plate there

All of these allocated to Finland were sold months before the first one was shipped. Many vendors said they would sell at least 100 more in half an hour if they would get a new batch.

There is a culture (at least on the countryside) that when you are 15 you should get your own vehicle. 50 cc moped is the only one that you can drive (or a tractor). When I was young maybe about half of my age boys had a moped. It was kind of rare to see a girl driving a moped, but when the scooters came to be it was not so anymore. Honda Monkey 50 cc version was really popular and the people who drove those in their teen are about 35 to 40 years old so they just might have that four grand to spent on a nostalgia toy.

I would replace the Grom for this, just look at it. Maybe not an Akra exhaust though but something that suits the classic style a little more, maybe Yoshimura or SC-Project will make a cool little scrambler exhaust

As cool as Groms are and I love them and would get one myself, the monkey isn't seen at all on RU-vid! The Grom industry is taking over hugely in 2018, many people have one! But I've never in my life seen a monkey on the streets! And not on social media either! But the choice to is all yours RJ! ✌️🏍️

I actually prefer the Grom, the monkey looks a bit silly to me. Saw both at a dealership the other day and fell in love the with Grom instantly.

That is an amazing little bike, and as you said, very nippy, too. Only thing that would possibly throw me is the low height, as it's even lower than the Grom, I think. Cars might have trouble seeing you.

Yes I would trade in for this Monkey. A few mods and it's perfect. Look a lot better than the Grom also. Having the money to run 2 bikes I would buy it also. Do it!!

Who are you insuring it with? Bennett’s and Carol Nash don’t insure the monkey at all, and my best quote came from Adrian Flux who deal with Bikesure, and the quote was £283!!! (I’m old at 66 and no no claims as I stopped riding ten years ago after riding all my life :o( My first Honda chicken chaser was circa 1970

I know motorcycles are loved in England. I have ridden over there on 5 different trips. I don't understand with all the traffic why you don't see more mopeds like the Burgman or small motorcycles for people under 50. Like in Asia???????
