Honda Pioneer 500 UTV Wild Camping
Hi All, Spring has sprung and we head out to the back country for an overnight UTV trip in the Honda Pioneer 500.
Great trip that we both enjoyed immensely.

I’m laughing so hard at Esme.. the part with the piece of chicken that fell in the fire. I had a big belly laugh at that! Well I did my dry run in the back yard this last weekend with the new camping gear. Slept in the kamp rite tent cot for the first time. It worked out perfect! I love it. I had my old memory foam mattress I cut it in half and put it inside. Once I warmed up I slept solid all night. I woke up to the rain but I stayed perfectly 100% dry. very impressive! set up and breakdown is so easy. Thank you again Michael it’s because of you that I bought it. It’s going to be perfect for my summer adventures. This next weekend I’m actually going away camping with friends I’m so excited. So happy spring is finally here. It got quite cool here at night but the days have been fantastic. Once again a wonderful video Michael thank you.

Hi Jacqueline - I'm glad you enjoyed the video :D. I'm glad the testing went well - a solid nights sleep is a good sign of a comfortable sleep system - I love the idea of the memory foam mat - I bet that works great! It will be interesting what your friends make of your new camping setup, especially when your all unpacked and setup in 5 minutes :D. Good luck on your adventure - Best wishes Michael & Esme!

I finally my Kymco UXV 450 in. Got a 2018 Honda P500. LOVE IT so far! Sweet little machine steers and drives so much better. Little jerky right now but it’s brand spankin new. Should get better over time and with fluid changes

Congratulations! Glad you are enjoying it! I found after the first dealer service the shift changes became much smoother. The clutch packs are easy to adjust yourself also. I think there are a few videos online. Interesting to have a comparison with the Kymco UXV 450 - this is the same as the Textron Prowler 500 I believe.

I loved the reaction of Esme, when you offered the chicken. It was like..... Mmmmm no. It is not up to fine dining standard. Lol. My old border collie had done that a few times, only when my other dog looked like she wanted it, did she eat it out of spite. Lol.

Hi Glen - Spring in Canada is very short. I measure it when the snow has gone until the bugs arrive. Its about 3 weeks :D. My choice of places to emigrate included Canada or New Zealand - Both places have amazing opportunities for outdoor activities. Nice job outfitting your P500. I’ve been thinking about taking my family camping with mine and my Honda rancher this June. But, families require more gear, so I’ll have to tow my meat wagon loaded with camp with either it or my rancher. Cheers!
@TheEmporiumOutdoors

I'm always reducing my gear - I have a rule that if I don't use something I packed for a couple of trips - I don't bring it anymore (excluding safety gear). I think your family would love the adventure!

How do you feel like the noise level is in the cabin? I’m coming from an older sxs (teryx) that was very loud. I don’t expect any sxs to be quiet at wot but would like to be able to have a comfortable conversation with a passenger around 25 mph. What are your thoughts on the noise level in that range?
@TheEmporiumOutdoors
@TheEmporiumOutdoors 3 года назад
Hi Alex - The P500 can be quiet at lower speeds as you can reduce the RPM with the gears manually. The quietest machine I have ridden in was an older V twin 800cc Polaris Mid-Size Ranger. Most modern machines go for power over comfort in my opinion. If I was you I would go and have a test drive - thats the best way to tell 👍

Thanks Mustang - Esme had a great time as always - P500 is doing well (I had an incident on my return to the truck - I'll have an update on my next video). I use the Light my Fire Steel Army (www.amazon.com/Light-Fire-Original-Swedish-FireSteel/dp/B0013L2DKU) - I prefer to use the striker that comes with it as its much better than most knifes - I never see other people on RU-vid using it that way - weird. Nothing worse than being cold if you were wondering about bringing heavy bag then better to ere on side of caution. I wonder if bringing an insulating pad to help stop cold from below. Can't believe Esme enjoys water that much! Keep em coming👍🏻

@TheEmporiumOutdoors 6 лет назад
Hi Ken - Yup, I've had my fair share of cold nights and also tend to err on the side of caution but I think I got carried away with the spring sunshine :). The under quilt worked ok - just the LL Bean fleece bag was way too thin. Esme's main DNA is Clumber Spaniel and they love water - so I guess thats why she likes it so much!
