Everyone's an expert, right. That said, using a 'Y' where you used 'T's would have majorly increased velocity, as well as reduced backpressure in you heater-core plenum, which in turn would reduce amperage. All that said, awesome DIY!
Great idea. Only 1 question. In the warm to hot months, did you end up putting a bypass valve and T in, or do you run the heater all the time. I'm asking because my Honda pioneer 700-4 puts off a crap load of heat just from the seat area.
I did not put a bypass on it and do not notice any more heat. I do close the vents just to prevent any residual heat from coming through. Also as far as the seat heat I insulated under the seat with stick on foil-backed foam which helped a lot.
Wow. You did a very good job. That heater is hard to find. I'll keep looking. One question, most likely stupid: You went from the engine directly to the heater and then back to oil cooler (i believe you called it). Am i correct? Just in the video i heard you say something about a tee. Sorry if it's a dumb question.
There is no tee. I hooked it up the way you would plumb any aftermarket heater. It runs from the engine to the heater core back to the oil cooler and then back to the engine/water pump.
Great video ! I have used several of your videos for mods that I have completed. So thank you , question on this heater. Did you have any issues in the summer ? Overheating, issues with heat coming through the vents with blower not on? I've seen several people install bypass Y's when installing the coolant lines.
I'm getting ready to add a heater to my pioneer, do you ever have an issue with the windshield fogging up? I will be using mine to plow and wonder if I shouldn't route some air towards the windshield. TIA.
I don't usually have a problem but it could be at some point. The problem with the pioneer 700 is there is no good spot on the dash to put a vent that will face the windshield.
Good. The only issue is the Pioneer runs pretty cool so it takes a while for the coolant to heat up enough to heat the cab. So if I'm going to go plow I will usually start the side by side and let it run for half an hour before I get going
Tried this but can't get air out of system. Got flow because it filled funnel I put in the rad cap to keep typing it up, but the lines don't get warm goin to heater
It takes a lot of running to get hot. Check your dash temp gauge. The 700 runs very cool. You have to drive it around a bit to really heat up. Sitting idling it almost can't heat up
Sorry I’m not understanding. My husband started to do your mod on our pioneer 700 but we can’t find that heater so I was wondering what a similar replacement would be. If there’s a link that would be helpful. For now we just have your stereo and gauges in. Thanks for your time.
Unfortunately it's out of stock at most places right now. Just search for Maradyne TA8001279 and see if you can find it somewhere. Hopefully they get back in stock on Amazon and eBay soon.
Because the radiator only has coolant flowing through it when the thermostat on the engine is open. You won't get any heat in the heater doing it that way.
You mentioned the radiator being cold most engine are designed to build up the optimal amount of heat operating temperature will this cause hot spots or cold spots in the engine or radiator I would think you would not want that to happen didn't think that was a good thing ?
@@mikepate9371 The Pioneer 700 engine runs pretty cool so this heater is basically handling the cooling load for the radiator. Once you drive it hard it heats up enough that the thermostat opens and the radiator gets hot. This is all very normal and just like how your car works.
