Cold start video just added, sorry I missed this like an idiot yesterday. Coming up, a video on DCT operation as well as another going through the menus and settings: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YpbMWmdGHH4.html
The reality of the Honda Rebel 1100 DCT ***BIG SCOOTER W/FEW GEARS***. For people with Arthritis and disabilities. Right to the point. God bless USA 🇺🇸. Got to keep it real….
Congrats on the new bike. looks like a bike out of sci-fi. i have 2020 rebel s. unfortunately 1100. in europe still not available. i will get the manual
I hear ya. We gotta sell ours too. It's a nice one too, 2018 perfect shape, H2C floorboards, engine guard, and handlebar riser. Puig windscreen. TBR exhaust. If ya know anyone in FL looking for one, let me know!
Yes! The ride modes truly let you go from mild to wild. Just pop it in rain mode and it's a very non threatening machine and you can just add power and remove the electronic aids as your skills increase.
You mixed up the up/down shift in regards to front and back, but no biggie. I have a DCT NC and it will still only let you upshift at set speeds when in the auto modes. People shit on DCT not being a "real" bike. Meh, I still play with the paddles on twistier roads, and relax on straight ones.
@@raceboy1971 last year was my first season at almost 40. Figured I needed a hobby to get out and clear my mind and decompress. I can shift all day, but it's nice to be able to just twist and go, and focus on either scenery or distracted drivers instead.
Congrats on the bike and being THE first private owner to post on RU-vid! I hope your wife has some MSF training because this bike is no joke, 2x the power and quite a bit more weight to shift around than the 500 can get her into a lot of trouble real fast and we wouldn't want to see her added to the thousands of youtube accident videos with girls on liter bikes they weren't ready for - it's not a little upgrade it's massive so be safe!
We come from a long racing background. My wife raced shifter karts so she more competent than most guys when it comes to operating fast motor vehicles. But you're right, you have to respect it. Luckily, you can literally just turn down the power with the modes. It's about the same as the 500 in rain mode for example.
I was with you, until you said automatic. All motorcycles should be bought in manual. ALL! And I'm talking about real shifting, not that paddle shifting.
Why is that? So people with disabilities that want to extend their ability to ride shouldn't have options? Why are people on 2 wheels always trying to tear each other down? I don't get it.
You folks are the first. I am in a few Honda Rebel groups, and this is the first one. Only seen two professional reviewers ride a loaner from Honda. You folks own the first (or at least the first one posted online). Congrats and enjoy.
I searched to see if I could find any other in private hands online before making the claim. Being in Florida probably helps with the rest of America frozen.
I joked the engine looks like a fancy water pump! It's certainly no highly stylized Harley, Indian, or Triumph motor. Lots of exposed wiring too, but for $10k I think they made the right trade offs.
I hear you. It was definitely built to a price point. At least with cruisers and low center of gravity bikes in general, the rear brake is a lot more effective as less weight transfers vs a high COG bike.
it's going to be raining all day tomorrow I may not be able to pick up mine until Saturday so sad to not see at least five more videos from you no one else on earth is posting anything it might just be your obligation to mankind to post more in this situation.... LOL pretty please, with sugar on top
Honda man, I don’t know how they build a better motorcycle than everyone else, put better components on it, put better technology on it, make it faster and better handling, and price it cheaper!! Almost tempted to trade in my sportster for one of these!
As someone currently on a Harley but having bought my wife this bike not to mention the probably 10 Sporties I have owned over the years the answer is emotion. Motorcycles are toys for most people, therefore they are more of an emotional purchase. When someone asks what kind of bike you ride and you say a Harley, they light up. Say a Honda and they just tune out. Harleys have a cool factor other brands can't match. Just looking at a Harley V-Twin engine and how much has gone into the styling making it a timeless design is art. The Honda engine is barely recognizable as an engine. It looks more like a very complicated water pump. 30 years from now your Sportster will probably still be on the road, the Honda probably will not. That being said, the Honda is a better bike in every objective metric. There's really no right answer. You should buy the one that makes you happiest. Just don't buy a fake ass Super Polaris AKA an "Indian"! LMAO
@@raceboy1971 I once had a Harley Davidson Rep tell me that every Harley Davidson manufactured since 1972 is still on the road... The rest made it home...
raceboy1971 Yeah, I was teasing about my Harley. I would only trade it for a bigger Harley! The soft tail standard is so pretty and the new street bob 114 is 👀! Funny story though, My youngest son got me in to riding motorcycles just last summer, and I was showing him the rebel 11 a couple months ago, before it came out, and he was digging it but then he pointed at the engine area and said “what is that?” “It’s the engine.” I told him. “Na, no way. You serious?” “Hell na.” He said “I ain’t riding that.” He told me. “Give me that iron 1200 or even the 883, cause I ain’t riding nothing with an engine that looks like that.” 🤣🤣. I see his point completely. Thing is, he’s totally and completely serious. He’s all about style, and if it doesn’t have the cool factor, he’s not having it. He said he didn’t care if it smoked every Harley on the lot, he ain’t riding that. I bet if I handed him the keys to one he’d change his mind but he is definitely not going to be picking one up for himself.
@@robbyclark6915 if the look of the engine is important to your son, I’m curious how he feels about the new Harley Adventure bike, or the electric bike?
The spring rate is something like 70% greater and the damping is greatly improved. The 500 feels like riding on a pogo stick in comparison. This bike should be able to be hustled down a back road quite quickly by a competent rider.
congratulations, I'm planning get one two,i want one once i finished paying my truck,im getting my motorcycle license, and get one no need to practice on a clutch lol ty nice bike bro.
sold my cb1100 in prep to pick one of these up later in the year when I'm doing my 2 to 4 hr daily commute again, been waiting for first in home walk around, thanks for being a trooper. Extremely hyped for mine now. waiting for accessory options too, want that full front wind fairing and rear seat, some engine guards & cruise pegs to go with it.
I'm 6'3" 270 with a 31" inseam. I know, bear on a bicycle, and it was pretty cramped. Ergonomics feel almost identical to the 500. Still, fun as hell. I just would be in agony after 30 minutes.
@@mikecolwell350 That's the one thing that would prevent me from buying this bike. If you look up Adam Waheed's video for Motorcyclist Magazine he said the same thing. Fun bike, nice power, good handling but kinda cramped if you're 6 feet or more.
raceboy1971 - A couple of friends of mine have them. They converted their cruisers over to them. They've asked me if I wanted to ride theirs. I tell them hell no. Why on Earth would I want to. I had a modern Honda with that stupid horn switch location. I can't tell you how many times I reset my blinkers while I tried to beep my horn because a car was cutting into my lane. That new Rebel is a fantastic machine but to me that horn button location is a deal killer, maybe even a killer.
Thanks! I think so and that's coming from a Harley guy. You can see my bike on the channel as well, but this bike is looks great and it's fast as hell compared to a 1200 Sporty.
I’ve heard that you have to wait at least 6 months from the time you place an order in Japan I want a black DCT as well Awesome design, reliability, safety features and great price it’s Ichiban cruiser bike on the market
I can't believe I didn't start it, but I'll post a vid tomorrow. I guess I didn't think about it because it's nothing to write home about. Vance and Hines or TBR, whichever we can get first, coming soon.
Congrats on your Rebel 1100! I’ve had mine pre-ordered since late last year. Dealer keeps telling me that Honda is pushing the ship date back. I’m glad to see that they’re getting shipped out! It bring me hope that mine will come in sooner rather than later!
I'm supposed to pick up mine on Friday also the black DCT I like to walk around but I wish you had started up I guess it doesn't matter since you are going to put on the Vance and Hines I hope that you will take us override soon I was hoping to see that even before I picked mine up but I guess that is unlikely congratulations and good luck I have subscribed to your general
I am curious whether it will sell big in my country where people love to shift gears. I definitely want to try it, but I am more of a manual shifting kind of rider. As soon as lockdown ends I am going to try both bikes and we’ll see...
Nice...I love it! I so wanted to consider this bike as I had hoped it was going to be a little bigger that the 500; but everything I'm hearing is...it's not. I'm 6' 2" and when I sat on the 500 it felt so cramped. Oh well...pretty bike though. Hope the Mrs enjoys...Cheers.
It's practically to same size as the 500. Wheelbase is only 1" longer. Seat height is like .5" taller, and it's a couple inches wider. I'm 6'3" and it's extremely cramped. Probably designed for riders 5'10" or less in reality.
@@raceboy1971 good thing I'm 5 '10 then lol. I want to trade in my 500 for this one eventually. And the new Indian chief is pretty badass, but damn it if the 1100 isn't one beautiful bike.
sweet, I've had about 12 bikes but this one is pretty cool, thinking its good for my older age, wish it had better forks and twin disk brakes , other than that its perfect
I have a connection from my AMA days, but my wife just heard TBR is announcing an exhaust tomorrow and she loves the TBR on her 500 so of course I'll have to spend an extra $200 most likely! LOL
The brakes are pretty good compared to my 2018 Harley FLHC! LOL In all seriousness though I ran them through a couple of hear cycles to bed in the pads and they seem pretty strong. The key with cruisers unlike high center of gravity sport bikes is to not be afraid of the rear brake. The rear brake can do a lot more work on a low COG bike. Suspension is VERY good. Preload is easily adjustable front and rear. The 500 feels like riding a pogo stick with 2" of travel in comparison. Damping was really good even with a big boy like me on it.
@@bodiejohnson4584From Honda's website: LIGHTWEIGHT LITHIUM-ION BATTERY: Conventional batteries are notoriously heavy-that’s why we gave the Rebel 1100 a high-tech, lightweight lithium-ion battery like our best sport bikes. Compared with a similar lead-acid battery, it lasts approximately four times longer, and its shelf life is 1.6 times longer. Plus, it’s way lighter.
Nice bike ! I hope you like DCT I had 19 wing and hated it ?It was too perfect. I'm old school but frankly no one builds em like Honda.Great styling and pipes are gonna look and sound great
Too perfect! In all seriousness, my wife is having nerve issues in her left hand and she might have had to give up riding if not for the DCT. That's the primary reason we got this bike.
I need this bike in my life. Ive had gs1100, gsxr 750, rebel 300, boulevard m50, vrod muscle, street bob, iron 883, and road king. This is where im at now. Lol. Love it
