Wow! I’ve owned Hondas for decades but my experience with my 2018 CRV ended my long term relationship with Honda…. Oil dilution and poor build quality coupled with awful customer service from Honda corporate pushed me over the edge. I now own 2 Toyotas and am very pleased. No car manufacturer is perfect. Hoping my Toyotas continue to be reliable for the long haul.
I am with you. They treated fuel dilution at dealers as if they had never heard of it. They could have solved it by reprogramming all CRV and Civics but instead went cheap and limited it to like 5 northern states. They can't stop shooting themselves in the foot. I don't understand it. Why don't they even reflect on customer satisfaction and their stock values? Their past customers are their strongest resource but are all shown the door. Meanwhile they spend millions on advertising instead.
I wish you much luck too with the Toyotas- however they've had more recalls over the past couple of years so it's systemic - these asian car makers- whatever happened to Quality Control that the Asians have always prided themselves in and held over the heads of everybody else?
@@crow_2k11beatsbydre8I own a 1.5 sport accord at 44k miles I just got noticed for recall for fuel pump I love the car it my baby and daily driver but I’m probably getting rid of it soon
@@vce.john1734 same here, I’m at 130,000 miles and just now getting the misfire on cylinder 3. coolant levels are all good so probably either spark plugs or fuel injector or fuel pump still waiting on the dealership and let me know when they have the fuel pump in. Good luck everybody.
Jon, I own a 2018 Accord 2.0. Bought in Spring 2018 and currently have 41,000 miles on it. So far, no problems with anything. I really enjoy this car and hope they get the replacement fuel pumps in. Thanks for all of your comments.
Thankyou for posting this you are the reason I found out my accord Is on the recall list no issues I'm not going pass up a new fuel pump again thank you so much 😊
The manufacturers announce a lot of recalls around the same time during the holidays when people don’t really notice Toyota this same week announced a million car airbag recall, Tesla recalled all the cars with autopilot, my VW got a recall notice in the mail that I haven’t opened too
@@davewilson7602your “recall” is regarding a shift knob if your car is manual transmission. If not, most likely the steering wheel issue on some VW if it came out recently
@@brenttitus2134 you definitely still live in the 2000s. Kia/ Hyundais have been quite reliable lately. Only some models and old models have been recalled.. New models are much more reliable not to mention kia/Hyundai has way more cars than Honda
Currently own a '08 crv, '14 mdx and a '23 mdx. Fingers crossed on the '23 mdx. Honda hasn't been doing too good lately on the trust scale. Their crankshaft bearing problem is super scary. Thats not a supplier issue. That's a serious manufacturing problem. Have been buying Honda's and Toyota's since the 80's. My newest Acura just may be my last Honda-built automobile.
I share your sentiment. I too, have bought Honda automobiles, since the 1980's and I am having my own serious doubts, about the build quality and reliability of these newer Honda models.
They closed two of their best plants, one in Japan and one in England. They are constantly sliding downhill every year since Mr Honda died because their quality slides thanks to opt for cost-cutting and greed. They also manage their dealer network horribly badly.
My 2018 has 3 recalls out. One for the seat belt issue, one for the a/c condenser and the last one is for the fuel pump. I'm glad the parts haven't failed because the dealership has told me several times that they don't have the parts to do the recall repairs. It's been over a year now.
Just got a letter about the recall for the fuel pump and as my 2018 2.0 reached about 76k, all my lights went on. Not able to switch drive modes, no cruise control, lane departure, etc.
Jon, you always top notch with the tips and information. Nothing wrong with my 2018 Accord Sport 🙏🏾 and I'm almost at 38,000. I received an email the other day, around the the 12/16. But thank you again for keeping us in the loop my Brother. Happy Holidays to you and you're family.
Thanks man. It’s important to keep posted about these things. I’m glad you don’t have any issues. Hondas are great cars even with some of these issues. Stay safe man.
At least my parents 2020 MDX skated by this recall however the crankshaft recall I’m pretty pissed about and currently there’s no fixes. My parents are retired. They only have like 9000 miles on the car and I religiously change the oil on other things for them..
Hey HondaJon, haven't followed you since your accord 2.0 days but appreciate your videos. I had not heard of this before. I have an '18 accord 2.0 so this is good to know.
@@FJB-187but with these turbos and high compression engines premium should be used. But these car manufacturers want to sell cars and everybody hates the premium price of gas so they tell us 87 octane is ok.
I started to put premium after 40k I was lookin into the problems with the 1.5 so far my car is working fine. Or maybe I should’ve just bought that 2.0
Like you said more and more and more of these cars and of course certainly it doesn't reflect in the price they keep charging more and more for faulty vehicles and dangerous vehicles. I find myself when looking for vehicles I now go to the history of recalls
The fuel pump on my 2023 Accord failed last week while I was driving in the left lane of the freeway! Fortunately, I was able to make it to the right shoulder without incident. They should recall up to 2023 as well.
Thank you. I called my Honda dealership 2 weeks ago Feb 15 and they gave me the run around expressing if the car is not stalling or struggling.. They are priotizing the vehicles first. They will fix mine eventually..they said.. That is here at a dealership in ontario canada..
With new MPG regulations from the EPA come new problems. To get better gas mileage car makers had to switch to direct fuel injection which require high pressure fuel pumps. Direct fuel injection is a very complex system.
thanks for letting us know, I have a 2019 CR-V with just over 71,000 miles and no issues so far - I will check my VIN at some point to see if I need the pump replaced.
I never had any issues with the fuel pump on my 19 Accord Hybrid Touring but it was part of the recall 2 years ago. I dropped it off at the dealership and it was ready 3 hours later. I was very surprised how fast it was.
I got the same one you got and my fuel pump actually did go out in the middle of the road. Got it towed by triple a and then honda fixed it up for free never had an issue since
A fuel pump is such a minor thing. I've replaced them in various cars/trucks. A simple thing to do and the part is very inexpensive. I have a 2020 Accord Touring Hybrid. Love that car.
It's Not a minor thing if it fails and leaves you stranded somewhere! What's up with Honda's quality control lately? This recall affects a wide range of popular models. Also, as was mentioned, there will be a shortage of available fuel pumps for the fix for a while due the very large size of the recall.
I have a 2018 Civic and took it in for a starting problem. Took it in to dealer. They want to replace the battery for nearly $200 despite mentioning the recall. They told us that they have no fix yet for the recall. But insisted the 2 yr old battery is the problem. This sounds like BS to me.
With all the problems some I'm still dealing with like rdx shattered rear windshield and 2023 Integra Elite a spec Canada version MT steering system issue...I still rather Honda products and Acura products to its competitors as these issues are fixable as long as Honda is willing to help us customers.
I work at the plant that makes the RDX. That rear windshield issue was huge when it happened in the plant. Honda has cheaper out on its parts so I'm not surprised by all the recalls.
We use to have nothing but Hondas in the 80s-90s. Never a problem. Have a 2015 civic and doing meh. Never thought Honda would fall like this……Toyota is next, you know it’s true
I have a 2019 Ridgeline. This will be the 2nd recall for fuel pump since I’ve owned it. Also there will be another recall for several Honda models after Jan , engine related.
they dont make cars like they used to, nothing on a honda should break before 100k unless you abuse the crap out of it. a friend has one of the 2017 turbo civics not even 80k and smokes already
The older Hondas I feel like are the best in my opinion. I have an 09 civic LX sedan with 119k miles and it idles and runs so smoothly. Self-maintained and problem free. 8th gen’s & 9th gen’s were some of the best made ones aside from the cracked heads 😂
Don't know about "I feel like" but I BELIEVE the older Hondas are lightyears ahead of newer models in build quality. Our 2004 Pilot has 373,000 miles on it with original engine, transmission and radiator.
@@charlesbeall2589 my mistake. I BELIEVE the older Hondas are more superior. I too have the original engine and transmission & paint is still in great condition!
They were trash then too, with all their interference engines! Ask me how I know, I only had 5 of them! I will never understand why people in the U.S. glorify Honda & Toyota.
Honda Canada said letters are coming out in February 2024. Not sure if contacting the dealerships now would let them set up an appointment to get the replacement done. I may contact them next week to see if this is possible.
Several 10th gens with the 1.5T are blowing head gaskets left and right due to oil dilution. I miss the old Hondas. Decided to switch to Mazda, but they're having issues with cracked cylinder heads. 2020+ Corollas are having premature cvt failure before the car even hits 60k miles. Considering a Camry - No CVT (which is great!), just looks sort of boring compared to the Accord and other cars in its class, but reliability is my top priority.
Love my 2015 Accord V6. Just about to hit 100k. I've had one recall that was fixed but otherwise it's been real reliable. With all the recalls that seem to be happenings with most of the manufacturers these days I doubt I'll get rid of it anytime soon.
Oh, I think I have that issue!!! (Accord 2018 - 1.5 Sport) Sometimes on Drive the RPM unstable when it is under 1K !! the RPM pointer goes up and down without touching the accelerator pedal!!
Great job Honda ! I have an na 2020 civic sport. It's perfect even though the infotainment has been a nightmare. I'm never buying a new car again. I'm going older.
My 2018 Accord EX 1.5 started losing power approx 3-4 weeks ago . 118K miles (Had spark plugs replaced at 73K). Misfire cylinder 2. Had the ignition coil changed plus all new spark plugs (splurged for the Honda parts). Now there are moments when my car won't go more than 10 mph out of nowhere. I will contact dealer ASAP because a non-Honda dealer is recoomending all 4 fuel injectors and throttle cleaning. But what if it is the actual fuel pump? It is a safety hazard. I used to have a reliable 2008 Camry and traded it for this car in 2021. Ugh I am also on the list for seat belt recall as well
What is sad too is the move to direct injection and carbon build up issues. Easier for them to sell the car but, put the cost of repair on the consumer. The move to turbo introduced oil dilution issues and poor real-world fuel economy.
Had my 2019 civic towed 2 times and they kept telling me we found no problems. Just yesterday I had to tow it back to Paragon honda for a 3rd time. and they acted like there was no prob. I'm so heated right now.
Got my recall notice a week ago. 6/30/24 engine light came on stuttering when applying gas. Turned off car turned on and went away. Bout to take to dealership.
My sister bought a brand new accord last year and the thing has had nothing but electrical problems. Like everything just turns off while driving. She is now in a lemon lawsuit with the thing. Anyone else have any issues like this?
This is scary to know since I use my car daily to drive from point a point b. I got the ‘18 accord sport 2.0t and the one thing I see is when I fill full tank it doesn’t go to 300 miles anymore. It used to be up to 330 miles or more.. but now it’s tops off at 270 sometimes less! Why is that?
@@mathisnotforthefaintofheartupdate 8/17/24 it’s summer now and I’m significantly getting worst fuel economy. I’m now only topping at 210 and sometimes lower! There’s something going on with “fuel” per se maybe it’s the pump but till Honda has the parts I can’t get anything fixed. At least no hesitation or starting issues. The car is a-ok 👌
2018 Hondas -- including my Civic -- are not good. What happened? Where did Honda's "quality control" go? Meanwhile, it's Feb. 2024 and no fuel pump/impellor issues yet.
You'll notice it affects most makes. During 2020 millions of skilled labor workers retired. They simply cared more than their children's children do. The new workers are riddled with drug and alcohol problems, cell phone addictions, and don't care about work so much. Get used to it.
Won't it be a lot cheaper to just make the cars right and stop cutting corners and cheapning quality from the beginning rather than having to fix all these problems and replacing parts down the road? Just sayin!
No issues with my 18 mdx, I’m already on the recall list for the rod bearing 🤦♀️ as of now no fix on the rod bearing according to Acura dealership I just had my car serviced at.
I've owned two Hondas...a 2001 Civic LX (bought new...a nightmare if suspension, a/c and heater issues) and a 2008 Element AWD (bought used and again a lot of suspension issues). I sold both of them within a year. I wouldn't consider another Honda
My 2014 Civic braking system completely shut down. All attempts to brake (eg shifting down, emergency brake etc) were unsuccessful. It’s a miracle that it happened when I was out of highway rush hour traffic. It was terrifying & I no longer feel safe in this vehicle. All my cars have been Hondas but I don’t know if I will buy another one. Have you heard anything about this? Any advice on how to notify appropriate people/authorities?
My 2018 Accord Sport 2.0t w 156k miles. Stalled and died today on my way back from work. I was able to limp it back, but it did stall 2/3 more times before I got back safely. I plugged in to check the codes and got P0087, fuel pressure too low
Honda is wonderful for issuing recalls and fixing for free well after the warranties are up. Would never happen with GM or Ford. Now have had five Hondas. Current 2018 Civic and 2019 HRV. Rarely a repair or problem with any of them. Fun to drive!😊
This should also reflect poorly on Toyota. These pumps came from DENSO, a Toyota subsidiary. If Toyotas are getting recalled for the same issue, then it’s no different than how Honda is getting affected. If Toyota cars equipped with DENSO pumps are fine, then this means that Toyota knew about the faulty DENSO pumps that they are sending Honda, which should sound similar to the Daihatsu scandal that Toyota is in right now
I have a 2018 Honda sport the told me it was my turbo booster had that replaced car did the same thing 3 months later the told me it had a blown head gasket thst was not the problem put new coil packs on that was not the problem found this link and now to Really find out it's the fuel pump and still nothing from Honda getting rid of this car Honda has a bad product now not satisfied at all with this vehicle and the lack of information by Honda.
I have the problem on my 2018 1.5 hesitating little a bit when I cold start but with full tank but if I cold start it wit low fuel tank it get more hesitation Does the fuel pump recall
