Nay for me. Reasons #1 Garbage suspension, #2 Low ground clearance, #3 High rev character, #4 Poor electronic interface, #5 Filter under the tank.

It is all in place what you say.Shaking on front and vibrating on handles.Seller is playing dumb on my complaints.And it is costly bike,11900€ for peace of crap.So sad that I had to be one .Honda ,you have to be ashame

I got a TA a couple of weeks ago. My first ADV style bike. Had a VFR before that - had it 9 years and was totalled when I got rear ended stopped at lights. Overall, just loving the TA. Gets me round where I want to ride, and with all the power I want. Makes a far better ride in the congested and pot-holed UK roads. Suspension was pogoing badly at speed and 2-up, but much improved when I dialled up the rear preload. Haven’t touched front preload yet. Cruise control, power shifter? Not important for me. No ambient temp gauge is just Honda being cheap (had it in my VFR). Tubed tyres? Guess I’ll just have to pray I don’t get punctured at a bad time, or a blow out. Near every review grumbles about this but I haven’t read if anyone suffering as a result. My other grumble was being charged £220 for the 600 mile oil & filter change. Pure robbery - all the Honda dealers were quoting the same…

Good to hear you are still enjoying your Transalp, and nice to recognise some familiar local roads (Longwood Rd). Still enjoying mine, now just over 18,000 kms, and have just gone to Pirelli Scorpion Rallys (third front and fourth rear). I would have run another set of STRs but they didn't have the fronts, but will probably go back to the STRs next time as they were better on the bitumen. Rallys are better on the dirt, naturally, but a heavier and stiffer carcass, and need lower pressures. I am not so phased by the tubed tyres, having not had a puncture on it yet (and never had one on my old Elefant 750 in over 50k kms). I seem to mainly get flats on my tubeless road bike. I have been getting about 6,500 kms from STR rears(2), and got over 11k from the STR front. I guess a cruise control would be useful police-wise, but I don't miss it, having not had one on a bike yet, although I use it a lot in the car! The suspension? Yes, it could use an upgrade, and my take on that is the low price ($15,740 on road in SA) leaves some $$ for that. I got the air deflectors thrown in with mine (first buyer at Moto Adelaide) and they do help a little with the wind, but they are dear if you have to buy them! The bear grip footrests better than the stockers, slightly lower and more comfortable, and much better for standing. I too have the B&B bashplate. But I really enjoy my Transalp. It has a subtle quality of an ease of riding, which seems to promote a sort of peace of mind which I am enjoying, and as you say - it allows us to head down any road that piques our curiosity. After 62 years of motorcycling this model is a great choice, and is capable of some reasonably rough terrain, as well as being great on the bitumen. Your actual 'all rounder'. Stops me going too fast on the Ducati... 😊

Thanks for the update on your Transalp. Glad it is living up to your sensible expectations. Horses for courses, no bike can be excellent at everything just need to pick one ( or two ) to fit your needs.

Most of the riding shown and described in this video (except maybe for the narrow single track) is exactly the kind of riding I do here in Canada on my KLR650. I've outgrown that bike and want something with more power, comfort, and refinement, and the Transalp ticks most of the boxes for me. And I can afford it. Which is why I'm buying a 2025 model next Spring. I'm not particularly concerned about cruise control or tubeless tires, although they would be nice to have, as I've ridden my KLR for 6 years without them and been just fine.

Thank you Mike. It sounds like that the Transalp would be perfect for you. It's a good Adventure touring bike, quite capable, reliable and value for money. The only other bike that would compare to this as far as value for money goes is the CFMoto 800.

Once you you have em you won’t want to live without it. Set cruise, plug, rinse and repeat. Especially with so many speed cameras today. 👍👍 Safe riding

Hey Mike, when do you think the 2025 model will arrive in Canada? I put a $500 deposit here in TN, but they have no clue... Thanks

Great realistic review, I have the TA and the biggest thing I find lacking is the lack of suspension adjustment, it can be a bit of a pogo stick at times and bottoms out occasionally. Otherwise I love the bike.

It's like a big CRF, rear shock isn't good at all, something better absolutely transforms it.

what about that rear shock that everyone complains?
@HardPackedADV
@HardPackedADV 6 дней назад
Yes it is soft, but I don't have any trouble with it, even when the bike is loaded with pannier bags and a top bag. I am 100kg.

why you didnt bought the vstrom800de?
@HardPackedADV

I did consider a VStrom as I used to own a VStrom DL1000. But when I saw the Honda I decided that it was what I wanted. There's nothing wrong with the VStrom, a good bike.

You did a nice job of showing the practical ability of Transalp. They can do even more, especially with mods, but not the goal of this Honda model. Have just over 2k miles on mine and really appreciate the all-around practicality and of course legendary Honda reliability. Cruise control would be nice, but every added accessory drives up cost, I appreciate the reasonable price point of Transalp. Thanks...

It's just your arse Marty. I've done over a thousand klms in one day without any discomfort. I rate it as the best OEM seat I've ever used. As for tubeless... I've already torn open the carcass on the rear tyre. I'm sticking with tubes.

Got A TA myself. England. Love it. To be honest those tracks you went on were way more nadgery than anything I’d want to try out, that narrow elevated part by the railway track with big boulders both sides. Anyone ever going to take a GS there, or Africa Twin? Err nope. Way too big, too heavy, too bulky. I agree 100% about what you said, what the designers intended for it, gravel mode being the most obvious clue. This is a great all rounder that literally does everything very well, so long as you ride the bike within its limits and don’t have unrealistic expectations. Nice review.👍

Hello Martin ; This is an very interesting Bike Review, I do like the Honda Tansalp 750, in fact I wanted on to reply my Triumph Tiger 900 as it was getting heavy for me (health issues) I wish Honda came out with a low seat height option, its very expensive getting bikes lowered as the rear shocks have to be replaced...not cheap... Keep safe in your travels. David...Adelaide....Triumph Scrambler 1200X

You can get a 20mm lower Honda seat , but expect to wait a few months , Honda aren’t supplying OEM accessories for some reason in Australia, I ended up getting a brand new , unused one on gumtree. It is comfortable , not a dramatic lowering of seat height , but at 5ft8 28 inch inseam every little bit counts .😊 I also wear Alpine star tech 7 enduro boots , which helps also to stabilise bike on hill stops ect…also increases my height a tad. Looking into Daytona road boots to increase height by up to 6cm , at the heel and 2cm on the tapered sole towards the toe , but they are $ 600 approx , and may interfere with gear lever use? It feels heavy , at standstill but not as bad as a KLR 650 , or my Versys but close. It has a 400km max fuel range , so just half filling tank can reduce weight , that is approx 9 litres for half tank . I am learning to like the bike more and more , but not sure if I prefer the 270 degree twin over my Versys 650 V twin . The Versys feels like a sports bike ergonomically and power delivery wise compared to the TA.( unrestricted Versys ). But the TA has the 21 inch front 18 inch rear wheel combination , which makes it much better on dirt bitumen potholed roads , although the Versys is pretty good on all sorts of bitumen surfaces and smooth gravel roads. I think a Transalp 500 twin weighing only 175kg wet , with tubeless tyres and at least 15 litre tank would sell like hotcakes .

Don't need a new shock? Just get a different length spring. Much cheaper.

I'm in Nairne, thought the same about seeing local roads😊 Picked out Back Callington road and Kanmantoo mine but not sure where you did the tight stuff where you hit the bash plate? Noticed you did the silly compulsory U turn at the Mt Barker servo haha! Cheers from a local Gas Gas 700 rider for your great content👍
