Honda/Acura V6 Intake manifold removal DIY. Shown on a 2005-2010 odyssey but will apply to majority if not all Honda/acura J series V6. Intake manifold gasket: amzn.to/2qm1R6i Throttle body gasket: amzn.to/2JztLDQ #ad
I know this was made forever ago, but this helped me figure out why the hell I couldn't take off my Odyssey manifold. You highlighted those 2 little nuts keeping it in place. Thanks so much!
Thanks! This is exactly what I need to do to mine. I’m getting a 301 code from bank 1. Figure I should change out all 6 after seeing how much has to be done to reach the injectors.
Excellent video as always MrRangerZr1 !! I used this to get access to my fuel injectors. I had to change #6 cylinder fuel injector cause it would cause a misfire even when I changed out the coil and new plugs. Issue has seem to be resolved. More test driving this weekend.
Mr. Ranger would you be doing a video for the valve cover gasket any time soon?... Thanks brother. Trying to do that before the heat get back to Soflo.
My question is... do you have to loosen and tighten the bolts in that order? My thought is your not taking off a head so why should it matter as long as the bolts are tight.
I have to change out both knock sensors on my ‘15 Accord 6/6. It’s definitely a bit different, but I assume that for the most part, the torquing sequence/specs for the intake manifold top, are all the same on these newer J-series engines.
@@MrRangerZr1 Do you know if there’s any good videos on the 9G AV6 platform, for the knock sensor replacement? I found some removal manuals from some Honda service bullets some techs posted online. I think it’s a little self explanatory, but I haven’t finished the removal process myself yet….
I got a knocking coming from my intake area.. Will taking the plenum off.. Will i be able to start the car or listen to see where knock is ciming from..
Thats why the shop manual is handy. You can find some pages of the manual through the forums. There are some nice folks that can give you the screenshot or pictures of the manual.
With the intake manifold off, on this engine, are the cylinder head intake runners, and intake valves accessible for cleaning? Walnut blasting? It looks like there is also a "lower" intake manifold that must come off. If so, how much work is that? Thanks.
No need for walnut blasting on this engine, it doesn't have GDI. Here's a video on the lower intake manifold:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dDEfBk4NO6M.htmlfeature=shared
Thanks MRRangerZr1 ! Would you care to opine on the general reliability of the 2014-2019 Odyssey's? The VCM, transmission and power side doors stories have me concerned. I don't want to buy my daughter a PITA Van! @@MrRangerZr1
@@mikeceli Avoid the 2018-2019 models, basically models with the 9 speed transmission. I would recommend a 2011-2021 sienna over any odyssey even though I have like 4 odysseys in my driveway lol
Thanks, MrRanferZr1. Do the 9-speeds fail prematurely? I too prefer the Sienna, however it's IIHS Crash Ratings fail to meet my requirements until the 2021 model year. Odyssey's did well from 2014 on. @@MrRangerZr1
Thanks "MrRanger Zr1 (ZR1 Corvette?) Yesterday I bought a 2014 Odyssey LXE, Burgundy Metallic ,Cream Leather. Per Carfax, 133,000 mile, 1 owner, no crash or other problems, ALL maintenance done at Honda Dealers, including a Trans Fluid Change @ 60K & 100K, LOF's every 5000 miles. T-Belt/H2o Pump at 100K. Looks WELL cared for! It will be a Christmas Gift for a family member. @@MrRangerZr1
Did you have any acceleration issues, lag or vacuum leak before this was done? Mine seems to be laggy on acceleration. Have never taken the plenum off. Will have to clean the MAF to rule that out. Maintenance is all up to date.
MAF cleaning, air filter replace, throttle body cleaning and a ECU reset should restore throttle response. Change the spark plugs if you're over 100k miles. If it still doesn't do anything, then you need to start diagnosing deeper.
MrRangerZr1 Thank you for replying. I've done alot of maintenance including 100k maint ect. Changed the engine air filter with an OEM. Previous owner had a fram junker in their. Will have to clean the throttle body and MAF. Thanks!
Forgot to answer your question, no I did not have any vacuum leaks. The gasket is metal, it won't leak. Check the intake tube for cracks, common problem on the odysseys.
Please help! I think I dropped a nut (position 1) inside the intake manifol at the small groove, (where the mounting bolt (2) and nut (3) located,) of my 2007 Honda odyssey. Can I take it apart into 2 halves to find that nut? and put those 2 halves back? Thank you 🙏
Just remove the intake manifold from the car and start jiggling it like mad, it'll come out. The intake manifold is sealed together and resealing it can be a pain if you split.
@@MrRangerZr1 Thank you It's weird. The nut just disappeared. I removed the intake manifold and was jiggling but heard no sound! Is it possible that the nut was stuck somewhere inside? If I just ignore it and put the intake manifold back, can that nut find its way into the combustion chambers? Thanks again 🙏
that is odd. for some reason it is cutting out portions of the video. when I hover over the red line for showing the timeline, it shows a picture of you removing the intake that is skipped when I try to just watch it from the beginning. thanks I can't find any videos for replacing the knock sensor on my 2010 Crosstour. This looks similar to my engine
