I recently bought a Multistrada 1200s to replace the VFR. I mulled over it for two years as there was nothing else that I wanted. The Multi sits, unused, because it’s nowhere near the bike that the VFR is. The Multi, on paper, beats the VFR everywhere. Way more power, way better tech. But the VFR is much more visceral and exciting, and much nicer to ride at 5/10 effort. Much better gearchange, much better brakes, much much better sound, infinitely better throttle connection, feels lighter (even though it isn’t), and all of that makes it feel more special to ride. Plus it doesn’t need the same level of expensive care to keep going.
I've owned a '98 VFR 800 for a year and a half now, and had a nasty crash last February. Currently restoring the bike and this video is what pushed me over the edge: it's getting a brand new Mivv slip-on :D
Hey!!! ScrewDriver!!! Guess what?I got my self an HONDA VFR 800 FI 1999!!! A yellow one.....and i love it!!! I have an awesome sound in my machine,Wydech DominatoR Moto GP1 with no baffle /straight pipe, flapper mod, snorkel mod, paiir valve mod and KN airfilter......I just love that raw V4 Engine power and that wining sound from the gear driven cams!!!LOVE THE MACHINE !!!!
I bought an 800FI bit over a month ago, mine has a leovince slip-on and the sound is incredible. I love the looks on people when you give it a bit throttle as their necks snap looking for the racecar..
My 98 vfr800 is by far the most amazing sounding machine! It took my heart away from my 1991 gsxr1100 r. She crys in the garage! I'll ride this bike until I die!
That sound is sheer heaven! I use it also to put me to sleep because that very sound is beautifully reassuring. I own a 2015 VFR800 and it sounds superb, but the sound of the VFR in this vid is a cut above. Thankyou for posting it. 🤩
This was my "the video" to watch and dream about getting one, after 3 years watching on regular basis it makes me sad still not being able to get one despite trying.
i came from 2 sv 650s, witch for me was a glimps into sport/gt. I think this bike is for me. Is the cbs is good ? i had an abs for my last and it was really great. I did without before but when you taste abs, hard to go back. The good thing is easy to find high milenage and low price because only people who knows that motocycles knows everything before 100K kilometers is liek a new, right ;) ( i sold my svs 650 at 80000km, was perfect condition, just oil eating engine )
I wanted to tell you that I decided to buy a mivv slip on oval exhaust for mine. Hope it will sound this way. Where you ve placed the external mic? I will do a video in answer to yours one day
On the herorr channel, people say that it's not benefical for the performances as it supposed to be for mid range torque and that there is no real interest to change what honda engineers studied on during several years to get the best benefit of the engine, what do you think ? Other question is why does it change the noise because of more air to come in low rpm ? thx Does it sound a lot different if you don't mod the snorkel ?
Well I did it because of the noticeable power loss between 5k and 6k RPM, where the flapper starts to open. All of this was designed for slightly better fuel economy, but it also affects the power figure. This modification smooths the power loss and also makes it sound more aggresive. It has nothing to do with power gain. I can't really tell if it would sound different with the snorkel in, but I doubt about it, because it restricts the air flow to the airbox, which makes that sound.
