B&w makes a special hitch that angles to prevent that but also you can hold the button for 3 seconds to lock the tailgate from dropping the 2nd part of the tailgate while you have a hitch in.

There is a way to lock out that feature of the tailgate so you cannot easily make that mistake again. Press and hold the button For something 3 or 10 seconds Not quite sure but there is a couple videos out there on it.

Bruce weld some patches on that dump truck find some 1/4” plate scrap and help your boy out dump bed holes so big you can stick your head in the side to check if it’s full

Nice truck they make a kit for the trailer hitch that doesn't let the tailgate fold down when a receiver is In the hitch port it works well can't remember the name I will try and find the info simple installation

Gm has a part- safety switch - that is plug and play. Won’t let top half of tailgate open when hitch ball is in receiver.

I guarantee you’re not the first person to mess up a multi pro tailgate in exactly that way. It’s a good reminder to people that if you buy one of these new pickups with a bunch of features you’re not used to you really need to pay attention until you get used to using all that stuff. Also read the owners manual if you’re not sure, that’s never a bad idea.

Finally Bruce went to a real mans truck!!! Those 2024 GMC are definitely awesome trucks for sure and I also love the new Dannolis also!!! That issue with the rear tailgate would definitely piss me off and I’d definitely be going back to the dealership and see what they could do about it!!! I can definitely tell you that you won’t be the last person that ever does that to there tailgate on there new 2024 GMC truck for sure!!!! First thing the dealership told me about that tailgate knocking out cameras when you let the step down with hitch installed. The only thing I’ve had happen was I dropped the tailgate on a travel trailer hitch at three in the morning and didn’t see it until I had completely backed it into the yard. I got out of truck looked at it and the scratches and said fk it I’m going to bed.
