Ours is the humanities building built in the 60s... It looks like a medieval outpost, and smells like a musty dungeon on the inside. Crap wi-fi and almost no windows.
Ours was “the bomb shelter” cause it was solid concrete, semi underground (so no windows), and wouldn’t let even the slightest cell/wifi signal in. We used to joke that it was the safest place on campus if we were ever nuked (Oddly, the ones I’ve seen IRL are usually humanities buildings, not science)
This was 100% the tour for my college. Hated every second of it. I love how they even slid in the new dorm thing that only a few dozen students fit into.

That ugly building joke gave me hilarious flashback when I was disgusted by these silent hill looken buildings in UC berkeley. Jokes aside it's still an overall beautiful campus lol and the bell tower is realy iconic
Inner West depends on the university. At more conservative colleges they’re usually not, but at state schools they may have boys on even floors and girls on odd floors, or just have them on different sides of the hall. It’s rare that they’ll actually stay in the same room together.
They forgot about the scary dad who always asks in a stern voice, "How are you gonna keep my precious bundle safe if she goes here?" They mean well but terrify me.

Pete Young well the answer is nothing. Because there is literally nothing a campus can do in that regard. Back in my day when I went to college, it was non stop daily announcements of “someone was mugged recently, we will do nothing about it except tell you to walk in groups”
@@TraceLight My college offers to have campus police drive you to your car if you feel unsafe(its dark). Then again they waste money on the alarm poles we're supposed to use to call CP if there's an emergency, but I swear I saw half of them covered/out of order during my 2 yrs there.
Lol the tour guide will say, “well we have this little blue box with a telephone for emergencies in the .0001% chance you’ll actually be near it. But oh no no one has EVER had to use it there are NO SUCH THINGS as emergencies here...” while the dad glares menacingly

I did get to see a college dorm come down. Sander Hall, University of Cincinnati, 1991. It had been vacant for nearly a decade when it fell. I was part the second-to-last group to live there before it was closed. It was a shitshow while it stood, and I don't think anybody missed it when it came down.
@@xaenon My university tore a dorm down last summer. Unfortunately it was a really classic looking building instead of one of the 1960s monstrosities, and it was still in use last school year. My department is based in a rather hideous, unpleasant 1960s monstrosity which isn't going to get remodeled any time soon.
My university was in downtown Philadelphia, I never went to the cafeteria or wasted money on the school's food plans. There were far better options within range. Plus, making your own food based on a rational budget often beats whatever the cafeteria makes. I always feel for students studying at colleges located in some isolated area where the school cafeteria is pretty much all they have.
@@Kehwanna My school forced everyone who lived on campus to buy a meal plan and forced everyone to live on campus the first two years. Something like this is, or was, not unheard of for schools that have few commuter students and few older students (ie starting more than the two or three years out of high school required for a Mormon mission, military enlistment, bit of postsecondary education or backpacking trip etc). Others exempt commuters and nontraditionals but keep the rule for others. We had pretty decent and nutritious food and pretty limited desirable offcampus options but still few but athletes and the very lazy would have bought the meal plans otherwise!
You will never go to the top floor because its so quite you'll be left alone with your thoughts and no one wants that. You'll also swear it feels haunted but mostly its just has a few hidden students who figured out how to bypass the campus's search blockers and are watching porn but are, like weirdly bored by it
I kid you not, I was on a tour of a Christian school, and one of the moms asks the tour guide/student: "Does the wifi block porn websites??" in front of EVERYBODY. I felt so bad for the kid and we all just stood there in awkward silence 😭😭😭

John, I meant the state of Vermont, not any particular school in that state. It's the comment from the video. Harvard is technically the best liberal arts college in the northeast. Yale would probably be 2nd in that category. Idk about the whole "midsize" thing, but other than that they were trying to make it sound unimpressive, but he still described a pretty good school (unless I missed a joke or those schools are considered big and not midsized)
You can use even more of your parents' (or legal guardians') money, and order out. Or you can just get the roommate you'll be getting, like it or not, to run out and spend their (or, most likely, *their* parents') money instead.

Yes, that was me on the first campus tour I ever went on, with my infant son strapped to my chest. I completely gave up on it by the time we got to the dorms.
I was 23 when I started college, now I'm 26 in a sea of 20-22 year olds. It isn't a MASSIVE age gap but it is Enough where it is noticeable 😅😅😅 It wasn't as bad at community college where there is more diversity in age groups but it's definitely more apparent at the college I transferred too :/ but it's okay we all go through life at our own pace.
If it's any encouragement, I know a hefty sum of people that went back to university or trade school in their late twenties and early thirties that are doing great now. Like you said, life isn't uniformed as we're all in various places for various reasons. I got a cousin that went from being a bartender to some fashion designer after going to some college in London in her late twenties.

Whenever I would buy alcohol, tobacco, or go to Las Vegas I will always be IDed, even by people who even know I’m of age because the security cameras would film me and if they didn’t ID me it would look like they’re selling it to a minor. 😂
Ironically, our Science and engineering buildings are the new, state of the art ones made of a lot of glass and with a lot of angles while every other subject gets relegated to the brutalist Soviet-style concrete boxes.
Pffft... anyone who went to UCLA knows our campus is primarily known for being a faux Ivy League in movies like "Legally Blonde" and "Van Wilder." Also, an impacted Psychology Major.
My favorite part is when they show off the girl's only dorms that just happen to be the nicest on campus and tell all the males, "Just stand awkwardly in the lobby- common area."
Well that's kinda sexist. Also the best dorms are usually the ones that house the international students/the best ones(one with the scholarships) cause they display diversity and superior nature of the school to the visitors
Its better to just enlist after high school for the minimum amount and get your GI benefits. Most positions in the military are not in combat roles. I think you are limited 1~2 times in a more dangerous base for the Army unless you volunteer for a combat position. Probably a lot more for the Air Force due to the longer 4 year duty, but most of that is in training. Jesus was a Jew, you could say his teachings were responsible for the Crusades.

My college would keep bumping students out of classes without transferring them to similar classes, which meant those students would no longer be full-time students and would lose their student aid. My school also demanded you pay them for the semester and all the fees immediately, so the students were screwed over even further.
Where are you from? In america, we pay for our post-high school education, and it sucks. Although, if I do a co-op through my school, I'll not only get work experience, but I'll be getting a salary for my work as well!

Too sprawled out with a generic feel making it bland. The pine trees always seemed like an attempt to give the place an exotic feel. Though, truth be told, as a Trojan, I may be biased.
When I toured my college, it wasn't an official tour. I was visiting the campus for recruiting and my friend went to the college. At night, she walked with me around the entire campus. No uppity student guide, no crowd I had to keep up with, no boring facts, nothing. Just seeing the buildings and being on campus with no agenda was the experience I needed. I think college tours are popular because it gives students in high school an excuse not to be in class.
During your tours, make sure to ask if there's anything of interest (pubs, stores, etc) within walking distance of campus. If not, get in your car and drive to the next college because that environment encourages everyone to be raging alcoholics.
I only went to one tour before at a huge school (did online one for place i transferred to). The one person who believes they are so much better and got accepted is true. Parent kept asking annoying questions. Should have included how difficult parking is as a student
So I used to live right in front of the "tour room" aka "mint condition room". Anyway, the thing is many many parents take a an opportunity to peek and even take pictures of our room when clearly someone is in the room! Please don't open or peak into other people's room! or even try to open closed room! It is common for us to leave our doors slightly open for other dormmates to come by and say hi to hang out! We don't mind if you are in the hallway, but if you push the door like a creep and take a picture? We have a problem. Also, we know for sure that the tour guys have warned to not open our doors or peak inside because they know 1/50 parents do this and out of many tour guys are our own dormmates.
We had a tour room that nobody actually lived in. After my friend vomited on all his bedding he stole the bedding from the tour room and it was bare for the rest of the year.
