We have been to the Bahia 5 times and have never payed for transportation our room has never had a leak and has always been cleaned and we have always been able to book restaurants no problem and there is always something going on around the pools and entertainment every night.

I was thinking the same thing. I stayed last July and we had 8 rooms and all were very clean and we had awesome balconies. Looking forward to my trip to the RIU Ocho Rios this August. Hope to have a good experience as you had.
Been to both and I definitely echo what they shared. Bahia was... an interesting experience that I don't feel the need to repeat lol. I've been to Riu Ocho Rios multiple times though and had great experiences so I'd recommend going there if deciding between these 2 spots
Thank you for the review, totally agree about the Bahia, wouldn’t recommend it, I suffered really bad food poisoning. The food seems to be left out too long and what should be hot is often warm, hence the microwave that was provided so you could re-heat. Entertainment was poor, not really much happening around the pool or in the evening in terms of family entertainment. Would say it’s a spacious hotel in terms of being able to walk around and stretch your legs. Room service was sub-standard, having to chase towels etc. I travel to Jamaica yearly and stayed at many hotels, but the Bahia will not be a repeat nor recommendation. Going to try Rui Ochio this year, so fingers 🤞🏽. You didn’t mention about the food at the Rui in this vlog (unless I missed it), would you mind sharing your view plz? Great observation. The food is better at the RIU in our opinion, even the buffet. There are several restaurants where RSVP is not needed, they serve you on a 1st come 1st serve bases. 😉 They also strive to switch up the menu each night at the buffet. We just renewed our vows at bahia while on family vacation 2 weeks ago! Absolutely a must visit! Out 1st time out of the country too! All inclusive 9/10. Lost a little point on the buffet. Restaurants were great!

Thank you guys for this review. I am headed back to Jamaica in December. I have stayed at the Rui in Mobay each time I've stayed. I wanted to try a different resort and was thinking about the Bahia...but after hearing this review and having suspicion about the rooms...I'll be going back to the Rui lol....thank you again!

I stayed at the Bahia rooms were a little dated but roomy food wasnt the best but I was so at peace and cant wait to return to JAM but where to stay next is the question

I've stayed at Bahia and had a great time. Couldn't decide if i wanted to go back or try something new. From this review and comments I think I'll give Riu a try.
I stayed at at Bahia room air conditioner didn't work good the Elevator didnt work a couple of days I was on the top floor. The bathroom I had to call for someone to clean the bathroom again I didn't use the tub the shower had soap sum on the door. The food was ok the only thing I did enjoy was the pool. I never complain but I will never go back there and 1day of getting wash clothes, I wasn't the only person complaining others were . I started staying at the RIU in Aruba and now I stay at them where ever they have thm. I stayed at RIU in Ocho rios room was clean food was good we ate at the steak house that was delicious. The pool drinks the staff was great I will return I was there to celebrate my cousins birthday I told them what I wamted they made her very happy. Overall its a win for me I'll continue staying there.

Our pleasure, the food was decent. You will have a variety of American and Island crusines. I would suggest for hot and fresh food you get there on time or early. We noticed closer to closing time the replenishment was not so good. There are also other restaurants besides the buffet you can explore. 🙂 We hope this helps.
Went to Bahia last August my 8yr got sick and I went down to the Buffet to get him some soup and they would not let me I had to make a heck of a fuss before Another manager came with me to get some soup. My wife and my daughter went and had dinner and when they came back I went < I did not like that at all. Will NOT BE GOING BACK !!!

I think everyone review and experience will be different and I thank u guys for that. I think what pushed me from Riu was the size and crowed pool, but we will see next weekend what Bahia offer. In my opinion no resort can compare to majestic elegance in punta Cuna 😂
Stayed at the Bahia Luxury in May celebrating my 60th birthday. No special anything in our room even though we mentioned it several times. Other people got champagne, cheese boards and lovely petals in their rooms.....very poor 😢

Definitely don't go there for the TV so the TV being small should not be an issue another thing is its hot so mold is not a problem lil mold no biggy the bahia im referring to

I'm sorry - getting upset because they charged your card 1 Jamaican dollar? ..... Respectfully, your card is used for additional purchases at the resort.
Thank you for commenting Sunny. Please note, when the full stay is paid for prior to arrival, you don't expect the resort to charge your card again to confirm if the card is indeed active. Holding a card for incidentals is one thing but this was not the case.
I cannot agree with your statement about the lack of entertainment at Bahia. Ive been there 6 times and the Entertainment Crew is what mainly pulls me back. They work very hard and keep us entertained by the pool ALL DAY, also in the lobby and every night there is a different show, then karaoke and then club. I know this review is your opinion, but we also need to be fair.

The crew was great, but the entertainment itself does not compare to what we see and experience at the Riu. There was no issue with the air, the room had an adjustable thermostat which shuts of when you open your patio door. Ventilation was ok and it did not take a long time for the room to get cool. Please be sure to subscribe to our channel as more videos are on the way.
It depends on the area you book on. The grand side is more family focused while the luxury side is adult only. As far as the food, you have access to about 5-7 restaurants ranging from buffets with American and Jamaican crusines, Asian and Brazilian etc. Restaurants outside of the buffet you will need to make a reservation. Thank you for commenting. If you recall via our video we mentioned we booked DIRECTLY through the resort and WE were charged a transportation fee to and from the airport. Bahia is awful. I went there last yr and will never go again. So many petty little issues like rooms not being clean enough, keycard not working, dining hall being too hot etc
Stayed at both. RIU food and entertainment blows Bahia Principe away. Overall experience is better at Bahia. There is a reason Bahia is the most popular hotel in Jamaica. THE COST! It is cheap. Only thing Bahia has going for it is the grounds. It is huge and beautiful. However, the rooms are dated, old, dirty, staff sucks, food is utter garbage, and place is just too damn big.

Our room wasn’t old or dirty. Staff sucks everywhere in Jamaica - they all act like they have other options and assisting guests is the LAST thing any of them care about. Food is fine - nothing outstanding but not slop either. Property is large so you’ll get in your steps for sure or you can take the free cart. Pools are nice - not crowded. Quiet areas and easy to stay away from crowds (and kids).
Good day Cora, just like the Bahia there is a pretty big variety to choose from. For breakfast via the buffet there is an omelet station, salad bar as well as tons of other options. They have a vegetarian section as well as juice bar for the health conscious guest as well as 5-6 other restaurants. As we mentioned earlier just make sure you are careful with what you eat 😉. Just wanted to comment on the showing your card and letting them make a test transaction when you got there. I work at a bank. Here is a possible scenario. You book your trip and pay in full. A week later, your card is lost. The bank shuts down your old card and gives you a new card which has a NEW number because that is the procedure. So when you arrive, you have a card from the same bank but it has a different number. They have to make sure the new card is good. Suppose you found your card and even though it’s shut off, you bring it by mistake? They have to make sure the card is still active. This may sound far fetched but trust me, I work in a call center and I know what can happen. So give them some grace for that one. 😊
Great scenario and shout out to our call center associates. You all are the heart of the workforce. Taking your scenario into account I question again if the trip was paid in full why would we have to give a few more dollars to confirm that card. I could see if we had an outstanding balance or if it was for incidentals but that was not the case. Additionally, given your scenario if we would had presented a new card rather than the one used to pay for the trip they would have questioned us because the numbers differed. No, the Bahia is awesome! I stayed there a lot and had NO issues other than being reprimanded for hanging my flag off the balcony (even though others did the same and didn’t have to take their flags down). Too many pushy (black) Americans there in October who were loud and rude and pushed you out of the way in the MDR.
