I have some Boyes styles and all the Susan Bates in aluminum and their 'ergo' in FGHI. I ordered a Clover Amour in H since that's my most used size and like it but prefer the longer handle of the SB ergo--which is about 6.5". I have a Furls resin due Monday in H and will see how I like those. The Clover seems a hybrid of the inline and none--and if I don't like the Furls, I will order some more Clover Amour. They are really quite nice, just a few things I'd change.

This is truly an honest review & I thank you for that. I purchased 2 furls; 5 and 5.5 mm hooks. I ran I to the same problem of them snagging & not having the control I needed. I want to sell them but they're sooooo pretty.

You are absolutely right about streamline Furls hooks. Unfortunately I bought a 4 mm hook and I couldn’t crochet with it. I had to go back to my favorite Clover Amour which never failed me. Susan Bates are ok too but I still prefer Clover hooks. You are also right about Coboo or Truboo but I like the drapiness. The cotton blend is much better to work with

TY for your honest review. I have to agree with you. I hold my hook in a pencil grip. Although I find the Furls beautiful to look at , I don’t grab for mine very often. When I do start using one ( and I only have 3-won a gift certificate) I usually give up and go back to my trusty, if only utilitarian, Susan Bates. You don’t have to be beautiful to be useful ✌️❣️🧶

Love the streamline I have a full set from 4.00 m to 10.00m their the best hooks I’ve ever used. Mine are the streamline in the color cream and cafe, I saw the purple odessy but they were out of a lot of the sizes. I do like the smaller sizes because the handle is weighted just right and is very easy to hold. Course I’m not as young as you and been crocheting for at least 30 yrs lol. So they have really made a difference in the way my hand feels. Thank you for the review ❤️

Snugglery, I am a guy, 58 years young, and, have been crocheting since I was a 5 year old boy! Sitting next to my grama-who's from "the old country". I'm a lefty-I crochet left handedly backwards-left-to-right. This is how my grama had to teach me-by doing mirror image copy-cat work. Of her 7 grandkids, I am the only boy who it came to naturally. I got all " the looks" like I'm an alien creature from planet Zorg, that's just from the instructors! I, still, need to get past the single crochet stitch and move on from "professional beginner" status after 53 years! I need the: half double stitch, double crochet stitch, the Chevron stitch and the Granny chain stitch. I don't bother craft stores any longer-because of "the look". I've got "paws" sized hands so I need to get a chunky handled crochet hook(the entire set would be fabulous!) To you men, why are you not watching these videos, learning the craft? Don't hand me the GIANT tune of BALONEY that says "real men don't...." You're full of warmed up prune juice, if you think that that comment is the acceptable standard! I see nothing wrong with dropping $20-$25 PER crochet hook when the craft is a passion for you! I'd like to "hear" what the men are feeling about this issue, makes me wonder IF there are any real men out there who enjoy doing the craft themselves! Doug 🤓👍❤️

I am in love with those vibrant purple 💜 colors!! Definitely see an order in my future. For ergonomic hooks, I have been using a combination of the cult-classic Clover Amour hooks and a few of the PRYM hooks. You might have the same problem with choking up on the PRYM hooks because they are also long for crochet hooks and for the most part seem to be designed to be held further away from the actual hook (at least as far as I can tell). They are also plastic, which has a separate set of issues but they are thankfully also sharper hooks so that helps. They feel really light and are great for marathon crochet sessions, if you can get used to the shape and the plastic. Another “luxury” (in my opinion) ergonomic option are the B Queen Collection crochet hooks which are metal hooks with hand-turned wooden handles. They are absolutely stunning but come with a price tag to match.

love the honest review, you've taken the words right out of my mouth, ,And they do help with CTS and the purple is back in stock. The odyssey hooks might work best in the 4mm and 5mm, because I was having the same issue with the smaller resin hooks I tried the odyssey in 5mm and it works so much better, they are a bit heavier but since using them I don't suffer from hand fatigue and the pain from my CTS has minimized a great deal.

Hi ! I was on the fence about which P hook to choose. I have Furls from when they were 1st introduced back when. Fancy wood , and the Candy line. I love the feel of wood hooks but was undecided about the resin. I have RA in my hands and am interested in crocheting up some roving locks yarn. I cannot find my Furls in my mass of craft hoard so I have to get a new hook. I was so happy to see you use the” P “ resin hook with chunky yarn. That was a game changer and I thank you for your honest review. Just ordered the Streamline Cafe in the P size. Not looking for speed just comfort. I will update once I get going on my hat project when the locks and hook comes. Wish me comfort and completion 😁 ! I tend towards startitis....lol

So I’m very happy to hear that you feel the same way I do about the 4.0 mm I have actually decided months ago that the 4.0 and the 4.5 are not my favorite hooks. I’ve learned that 5 and 5.5. Where I start with my hooks and I go all the way up to 7.0 8.0 and I’ve never used my 9.0 or my 10.0 from.furls yet What I will say my favorites are on the cookies and cream and the Ebonywood crochet hugs I like the way they feel I like them and I like the fact that my hands don’t get tired but I agree with you on the 4.0 that they feel like they’re gonna break and guess what I broke three and I was not compensated when I broke them at all, as a matter of fact I was only given a partial refund on the three that were broken so when it comes to those 4.0 and that 4.5 I stay clear of them furls hooks play absolute favorite hooks are the clovers every size they have are my favorite except 9.0. I find that as to get that large they become uncomfortable I also tulip and.prym

If I was gifted or won a Furls giveaway is the only way I'd have one. As pretty as they are, I just CAN'T justify that kind of price for one hook. I don't care that the hooks are pretty as long as they are reasonably priced, comfy and inline. I have the Susan Bates hooks as well but I have both with and without the bamboo handles. The bamboo handled ones are my go-to with the others being a back up because if I crochet too long, I get the hand craps as well. Good luck on finding the ones you love.

Thanks for your review! I just purchased my first two Furls hooks. I bought the Streamline Andromeda in I-5.5. I share your view on the G hook you purchased, even at the 5.5m size. My yarn did not flow easily, and I was concerned at how thin the shaft was. The other Furls hook I bought was the Odyssey in J-6.0m. Well, that one I really love!! I also found the shaft to be shorter. I am thinking about exchanging my 5.5m Streamline resin for an Odyssey. Maybe they will work for you as well!

Thank you for your honest opinion. So many crafter's on RU-vid are sponsored by or hoping to get sponsored that I can't believe their reviews. I purchased the swirls in sizes 4.5mm it broke the first row on a shawl using #3 yarn 🧶 the 5.5mm has the same "snag issue" it literally shreds my gorgeous yarn ☹️ and the neck is too long. The 6.5mm worked the best but it spends more time out of my hands. I recently purchased Prym hook size 4mm...and love it 😊 in my opinion Furls hooks aren't worth the money.

I had the same issue with my furls splitting yarn. I use a 4 and 4.5 mm. I did try the resin streamline swirl and wood. They were too sharp. I mainly use Clover Amour and learned on a Susan Bates hook. I recently tried Prym and I love it. I also found Ommi which is similar to Furls but less sharp so it doesn’t split my yarn and I tried both a wood and resin.

My Furls Odyssey are shorter than the streamline swirls. Those and my Clover Amour are my go to hooks for most projects. The Odyssey are a so smooth and slide easily. I only use my swirls if the yarn I am using is a slippery yarn as the swirls don't have quite as much glide.

I just received a Furls Streamline and I'm on the fence about it. I do love that it's beautiful and I love the wide handle. But I discovered I'm also a "choker"! I had no idea that was a term! I'm going to give it a few days practice to really make sure. But my stitches keep slipping off my hook in double crochet. I had carpal tunnel surgery about five years ago and usually don't have hand or wrist fatigue while crocheting, but I practiced with the Streamline for about a half hour and now my wrist hurts. I'm using the G+ 4.5mm on a worsted weight acrylic yarn. I'm also terrified that I will break it! Previous to this, I was using a Clover Amour. It's comfortable and pretty quick. I just really want to love the pretty hook! 😫 Good to know they retain their value. I'll consider that before returning.

I am a type 2 diabetic and I have osteoarthritis in both hands. I am 46. I have been crocheting for 40 years. Though I don’t have “Old Lady” hands in look..yet, they FEEL old😒. My favorite hook is an interchangeable lighted , 11 piece hook set I paid $20 for on Amazon. This set has RESIN hook tips and I love them. When I first got the handle in my hands there was a learning curve: 1. longer handle means different hand placement, 2. making sure I placed the hook into the correct direction, open hook facing me is my preference, 3. Longer hook neck means if you are a choker…like you and I, it cures you of this. You really have to have your fingers in the right place. Why am I talking about the Amazon set on your Furls review? Because the learning curve is the same. You really need to get used to the length of the hook, both lengths to be precise. You will find that the Furls hooks make you change your tension hand as well since the neck is longer so you can reach for the yarn with the hook to YO instead of “throwing or wrapping” it around the hook. I am currently working on an all cotton scrubby face cloth and I have to use a metal hook. My Furls Swirls are NOT up to this type of yarn. Think RH Scrubby style but no plastic, all cotton. I MISS MY FURLS! My hands 🙌🏽 are pulsing so much 😢😩. The difference is truly night and day. I have NO hand pain when using my Furls (or my Amazon set for that matter 😁) and very little pain the next day. I love my Furls hooks and will complete 2 sets over time cause… money 💰 😂

I broke down and bought a Furls hook because I had heard so many good things about them. They were the absolute worst hooks I had ever tried as far as hand cramping. I thought the bulbous nature of the shaft would help with hand fatigue, but it cramped my hand terribly within the first 10 minutes. So now I have an expensive hook back in the box never to be used again. :( I've always loved Susan Bates hooks because of the inline design, but the ergonomic version is too long for my hand, and I've yet to find any of those rubber things that fit the shafts. So I'm still on the lookout for something comfortable. Or should I say 'more' comfortable because I never get actual cramping with the SB hooks, just fatigue after long sessions.

The sample I did came out 'wonky' looking because the hook kept snagging no matter how many different ways I adjusted my hands. I recommend Yarnology Luxury Hooks.
