Aw. I love this. It takes a gentle man to keep bees I think. I watch Joe & how careful he is with the bees, tries not to hurt even one if he can help it. ♥️
I had to watch this one twice (the second time to show my husband.) He said, "I love it." Then he told me to quit commenting because it makes more work for you to respond. 😄 really loved this one! Right now we only have a dog and some chickens, but maybe we'll be able to add in some bees. Thanks so much! I loved seeing the process and how you did the wax at the end, so nicely done!
Robyn I love the comments honestly! Sometimes it might take me a couple days to get thru everyone’s comments and reply but I always do my best! Plus…it helps our channel too with the algorithm. 😉 So thank you! The bees have been such a blessing for our family. We just sold our two hives since we’ll be moving to Alaska. But we surely intend to start new hives as soon as we get there! There is nothing like fresh, raw honey from your own back yard. We get about 7-10 gallons a yr just from our two hives! 😍
Hi Jen! Thank you. We actually just sold our hives in preparation for our move to Alaska. But we intend on getting new hives on the Alaska homestead. 😊 We’ll be sure to keep up the bee/honey videos once we arrive & get settled. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you're enjoying our videos. Right now we have 2 hives. And we harvest honey twice a year...so altogether, I'd say we harvest about 6 gallons of honey a year for our family! :)
That is pretty awesome I have a friend of a friend that has beehives and I believe he does that and her boys helps him do all that also that is pretty awesome and he sells his at a State Fair and Walworth county Wisconsin
If I wasn’t so deathly allergic to bees I would do it. You have some beautiful honey. As children we used to get bees wax with honey in it and eat it, on toast it is delicious!
Good morning Angela! How are you my friend? So we put the frames back in the hive & allow the bees to clean them up. They actually work really hard to clean them up and repair the damaged combs. We allow them to store up as much honey as they can for winter.
This video was so well done and informative. I'm impressed that you set this up in your kitchen! (For filming purposes maybe) I've done this before, but always outside. It is truly a messy job!! The effort you put into your videos is amazing. I'm so glad there are people like you who, not only have these skills, but have the fortitude and filming knowledge to share it. All those jars of beautiful golden, home harvested honey is truly a sight to behold. Well done!
Susan I had to giggle because when I’m putting these videos together, sometimes I feel like a hot mess! 😂 Camera falling, film something & realize I never hit the “on” button! Haha! So thank you so much for sending me such a kind comment. That really made my day, I truly try hard to bring interesting content & make it unique so that it’s enjoyable to watch! Thanks again for taking the time to watch our videos & to write such an encouraging comment! 💗
I don't know much however I have seen that there is a spickett system you can use in the in the bee hive that never needs to bother the bees it's like a water faucet
Yes that’s called the “flow hive!” We actually had one of these hives before and the spigot aspect was awesome, but for some reason, our bees didn’t care for the frames inside. Not sure why. So we switched to a regular hive and they did much better. But the flow hive is super cool! 😊
Nope! Not at all. When we started out, we only had one hive. That's totally fine! As you know, they are wonderful to have near your garden. The bees & I often work side by side in the garden haha! I'm working & they're right beside me pollinating! They truly are wonderful. :)
Eeeeeekk!!! Do you have a video on what you do, how you use the beeswax? I was trying to look for it, just for curiosity purposes and couldn’t find one, buuut it is also early and I could be blind!
