She's NOT telling lies,guys ! I'm a 67 year old diabetic(diagnosed 27 years ago),had a small cut on one foot,treated it with the usual stuff,seemed to be healed,so dispensed with the bandage to get air to it ,but a new brace that needed a bit more fitting ground an abrasive sock into it,resulting in an ulcer,which became infected-so it was off to my friends at the local wound center,and weekly visits and treatments,several potions were used,and slowly started healing things,then things seemed to be standing still,so the doctor decided to try medihoney(they had the stuff there),worked very fast to heal things nicely (getting the brace adjusted helped as well, ),I now have my own supply at home ! If you have a wound center within range,use it if needed,they can do wonders !,Waiting too long is a BAD idea,and makes for unneeded adventures (don't ask how I know that !)

as it turns out, one should never let a wound dry out... It should always be kept covered and moist with a daily fresh bandage. Especially on the feet, it must be kept covered to prevent pathogen entry, to protect from abrasion, and to keep the wound moist until entirely healed... A dry wound is an impediment to healing.

As a wound care specialist and RN. I use these products often with great results. They also make sheets of these products that you can cut to size and place them in wounds. They seem to work much better for me.

My hospital's wound care team used this exclusively on a (diabetic foot) spider bite. I loved it so much that I bought a bigger tube of the gel for home. It's great for diabetics who especially get bad wounds that dont heal well.

First thought is that to heal any wound is important to not expose it to moisture which causes maceration of tissue.

My surgical incision is spitting sutures. It has had open sores for over 2 weeks now with almost no improvement, despite the offending sutures being removed. I have now started getting a rash from prescribed neomycin spray, so I started applying Medihoney today. My wound’s not infected and my surgeon is always a phone call away. This is prophylaxis, and I just want this to heal quickly so the scar won’t need a revision. It was itchy for about 10 minutes after application but nothing intolerable, we’ll see how it goes!

On (a speed bump ) a rock ripped my skin on my elbow and my knee was bleeding so an adult put medihoneyon my knee and my elbow; not even 24hours it healed so quick! For my injury on My elbow it had some green ooze it’s just the medihoney working!!

I ordered the Medihoney gel off amazon, my doctor said that if i used it, he wouldnt need to debride my ulcers. I got it today and used it for the first time on my diabetic leg ulcers tonight. Both legs burned really bad after I applied the Medihoney directly on the ulcers, the right leg eventually stopped burning, but the left leg continued to burn to the point where an hour after the application, I had to remove the dressing and Medihoney and use lidocaine gel to get it to stop hurting. I don't think it's the Medihoneys fault, that leg always hurts even when my doctor debrides the wounds. Just wanted to let people know that in some cases, it might hurt to use Medihoney. This is my first experience with this product, I don't think my experience is typical, more like rare.

Prence: I have ulcers on both lower legs. I don't have diabetes but have a lot of edema due to varicose veins and poor circulation. Each time I have used MediHoney, it STINGS AND BURNS really bad. I have to take Tramadol or Vicodin to relieve tha pain which finally subsides after a couple of hours. I don't take pain meds otherwise. This young lady didn't say anything about pain from putting this on a wound. So I wonder how severe her wounds actually were. Hope you have success with your leg ulcers treatment. Thanks.
@Prence
@Prence 6 лет назад
Thanks. I'm currently seeing Wound Care 2 times a week and am taking 7.5mg tabs of hydrocodone 2 times a day for the pain I'm experiencing. Without the hydrocodone, I can't walk. That's how bad it is for me. Medihoney might work for some people, but it hurts too much for me to use. I was reading something the other day about people that are hypersensitive to pain, in my case I might be hypersensitive because everything hurts when it comes to my leg ulcers. As far as her wounds go, I have no clue. I just know what I'm feeling, and I can't use Medihoney because it stings and burns. I did talk to my wound care doctor, she said some patients experience pain when using Medihoney. It's rare but it does happen. Just wanted to put that out there for people to know. I hope Medihoney works for everyone that needs it.
@ettab4762
@ettab4762 6 лет назад
Pence: I have the MediHoney Paste and read the information insert. It does say that "stinging or burning may occur due to the low pH of the MediHoney" and to take analgesics for the pain. If not relieved, then remove the dressing. I have had to take the dressing off a couple of times within a few minutes after applying it also. Fortunately I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but this stinging and burning is something I have never felt. I think the manufacturers of MediHoney should say up front and in these videos that using the product can result in stinging and burning when applied. If doctors are going to advise its' use, they should give the product information to the patient. I hope you have a good outcome with your leg ulcer treatment. Thanks.
@Prence
@Prence 6 лет назад
I didn't get an insert with my order, just had some instructions on both the box and tube. I bought the paste to use, it was very thick and I had to warm up the tube before I could use it. It was really thick. I wish you well with your ulcers. Doesn't seem that mine wants to go away. Oh well, it is what it is. And this doesn't help me.

Pence: I hope you open this reply. There is a YT video titled "Novel Approach to Chronic Wounds" and features a product called Enluxtra Self Adaptive wound dressings. (The video is on the top of the Up Next list as I've come back to see yesterday's reply.) I watched their video and ordered a box of 10 on eBay. Since I haven't gone to Kaiser for care yet, I wanted to try to control my ulcers with some accepted products first. You are going for would care, so perhaps your doctor should review this product if you haven't already used it. I don't know if you are MediCare eligible, but it is covered under Part B for 30 dressings a month. The direct web address is www.AnyWound.com and gives a lot of information basically for providers, but also for patients. Their videos also say what gels or ointments can be used as well as cannot be used with the pads. MediHoney is one NOT to use with the pads. I found Enluxtra mentioned by a RU-vidr when I looked for stasis ulcer treatment. Take care of yourself, Pence.

I have "weeping" eczema on my lower legs, and it looks like manuka honey wound gel is one of the few topical treatments which won't interfere with my thyroid meds (as iodine and silver-based products would). I just ordered my first tube of this stuff from Amazon today, and look forward to trying it this weekend.

So interesting.... love learning about natural remedies! Curious how do you use honey for a face wash? I mean just by itself and does it work good?
@CasaSankofa
@CasaSankofa 7 лет назад
Hi Rebekah! I just use raw honey (amzn.to/2qqBZnq), massage about a dime size between my fingers and into my face. You can leave it on your face for 5-10 minutes for deep cleansing. Then, wash off and let your face air dry or gently pat dry...I avoid towel-wiping my face so I don't strip its natural oils. The honey has to be raw in order to have the anti-bacterial properties and probiotics that are good for the skin. I love that unlike most face-washes , honey doesn't strip the skin but actually nourishes it. Let me know if you try it!

Pain is definitely an issue when using medihoney. Many of my patients cannot tolerate medihoney due to pain. There are many options that can be used instead of medihoney and are very helpful. Given your post was 2 years ago, I am hoping your all healed by now.
@ettab4762
@ettab4762 3 года назад
@@nursemummy9875 Thank you for your reply. I tried to home medicate using different medicines and finally went to my health plan provider which fortunately has wound care for out patients. A big part of my treating at home for so long are my mobility issues which prevented me from going out whenever I wanted. (Bone on bone arthritis both knees-no cartilage) which also caused a great deal of pain. I had to 'bite the bullet' and get hospital wound care which finally healed my leg ulcers, however it was a long process. Contributing factor is bilateral lower leg edema which interferes with normal healing due to stretching-relaxing of the skin. Aging also makes the skin less elastic and thinner so we seniors have more chances to develop leg ulcers caused by different occurrences. Now I can say I won't be so stubborn and wait to get medical treatment if this happens again. Stay well and safe. North Hills CA USA 11-19-2020
