I listen to it more than any of her other albums. That’s not to say I think it’s her best, but it’s definitely in my top 3 and, like I said, fave to play.
I remember when it first came out. After the momentum of Born to Die, Paradise, and then a grungy Ultraviolence, everyone thought she went too “slow” and lost her sense of making listenable music. I think it was polarizing for it’s time, but anyone who goes back and listens now is amazed by how good it is.
It's definitely a bit under appreciated. I think it gets passed over for being a bit less flashy/dramatic and a lot more low-key. It's probably my favorite of her pre-NFR albums personally.
the blackest day is such an enveloping and hypnotizing song. It is said that the bridge is actually a spell or kind of spell for a person to become obsessed with you. Lana is truly a poem made person.
It's very impressive because I know why I can understand the lyrics, since I'm a huge fan and I dive deep in the lyrics and listen to the songs a lot. But she's just first listening and she just pick up the references and everything. That's very fun to watch
You wouldn't believe the amount of times I yell at myself while editing the things I don't get in the moment. It's frustrating, but at the same time, I feel like that's the beauty of her music. I constantly feel as though it's an experience every time I listen.
yeah, she picks up so much she's either pretending to listen for the first time or really insightful. then i saw how the videos baffled her so much and it made me feel better.
This is my favorite LDR album (followed by NFR! and Ultraviolence) and as a new subscriber for the past month I've been waitinnng for this! I watched all of you previous reactions and you quickly become one of my favorite music reactors, I'm all here for the length and the deep dive into analyzes of the lyrics. can't wait to see what you've got to say about this record.
swan song is a term in music industry for the last song of a musician In general there’s this myth that swans sing right before they die, so this is where it comes from :) so you were already quite close to this 😁
My top 5 from honeymoon: 1. The Blackest Day 2. Freak 3. Art Deco 4. Swan Song 5. God knows I tried. special shoutout to Terrance Loves You, particularly the humming at the end - it's beyond exquisite.
Wow you instantly got the metaphors on High By the Beach WITHOUT watching the music video. Now I would love to see you react to it! 🫠 also I’ve never noticed that the helicopter sound is present in the actual song and not just an effect for the video.
sadly almost no one talks about this album, because it is their least commercial and most poetic (even ocean boulevard). It's just an album that envelops you in an atmosphere and it doesn't stop surprising you with the sound it has. lyrically and instrumentally it is one of his best albums, it is complete, it is mysterious, it is romantic, sad but not depressing, it is rich and substantial. it is a masterpiece... sadly hardly anyone appreciates art.
Honeymoon isn't her least commercial album. This has got to be a coping mechanism you guys managed to come up with, but there's no way this album is less commercial than Chemtrails, Blue Banisters and maybe even Ultraviolence. UV's sound wasn't exactly trending back then. Honeymoon included a lot of trip-hop and trap elements that were THE big thing at that moment. The leading single was High By The Beach, not some risky boring-ass song like Swan Song. It doesn't get more commercial than that. It might fail commercially, sure, but that doesn't mean it wasn't made to be commercial AF and they weren't really taking chances.
You just had to be there when this album came out, it rearranged my DNA, like my brain will never be the same. The transition between Freak and Art Deco lives permanently rent free in my mind. There will never be another album like this one, underrated masterpiece.
Heyy can you pls also react to the rest of the lana albums🫶🏼🫶🏼 I just love your reactions sm and I would love to see your reaction of Norman fuking Rockwell , Lfl , Chemtrails & Blue Banisters ofc❤️
In the unreleased song "put me in a movie" she sings "lights, camera accion. You know I can't make it on my own" so there's some interesting development there in high by the beach!
OMFG I CANT BELIEVE IT 😭 the way i had checked ur account this morning and when i saw that ur last video was a month ago i was like damn i wish she'd upload her honeymoon reaction
I think an interesting angle to take for Music To Watch Boys To, for specifically the bridge, is that it’s specifically cyclical. The second half of the album takes this specific interest in time after the interlude, and that allows us to relook at the bridge. “Nothing gold can stay, like love or lemonade, or the sun or a summer day…” are all things that don’t stay, nothing can, but it doesn’t mean they’ll never return. You can always wait for the next morning for the sun to rise, the next year will bring more summer days, you could always make more lemonade. I think it’s a bit hopeful in that way, it’s understanding that things will leave regardless of how hard she holds onto things. So, instead, lana chooses to just play her song and watch them leave. Whether it’ll be the same person that comes back into her life, or someone new, there will always be someone. Just my possible interpretation
This is her best work, only real music appreciators will agree from the artistic view of it to the melodies im sorry, NFR is amazing as an album but Honeymoon is just fine Art
Congrats many many times on going over 1000 my dear !! I love how you really listen if ya get what i mean .. you read in-between the lines as Lana would put it lol .. and you're soft voice is so soothing to me ! It's wonderful having your speaking paired up with Lana's singing 😂
Omg I was so scared you were never coming back!! I’ve been looking forward to this so much, I always love hearing your interpretations and opinions 😊 and you’re right, Lana really doesn’t have a bad album, so I’m excited for you to keep going! I can’t wait to see which one ends up being your absolute favorite ❤ (the next 2 you’re going to listen to are my 2 favorites!)
I knew you would not fail me and would apreciete Honeymoon as the work of art it Is! Some people just call it 'boring' cause its such a calm album but my bet its atmospheric, never boring. This album turned me into a Lana's fan. Btw i think she didnt write the Interlude, shes just reading the poem but she do writes poetry and has an spoken word album of her poems, maybe you can give it a try when you finish your album journey!! Loved your reaction, as always!
No one talks about this album and Lana herself seems to have forgotten too, cause I went to her concert 3 days ago and no Honeymoon song was found 💀 Sadly, it's my favorite album of hers.
most of the songs on this album were written about a guy that cheated on her and dumped her for another girl, i think she doesn't like to remember that period of her life and the memories the songs bring up. it's why she never released the video for honeymoon too, because her ex is the one who filmed it.
@@sparkleclover yeah, that's bullshit and the same shit happens every time, basically every album of hers brings her bad memories and she still sings their songs. she was a whole emotional mess and in a very toxic relationship during most of the time around the UV era and we all know about a certain cop who cheated on her, got her back but was actually married to another. so... nah, bruh, honeymoon and lust for life are just dated and unremarkable as fuck. simps won't see that but even lana does.
@@Matthew-ij3zmunremarkable? Bro. Delete your account. The only here who is a simp is you or you wouldn’t have accused someone of it where it was unwarranted…. That’s called projecting.
How serendipitous you dropped this today. I literally looked up your channel yesterday, thinking I missed your Honeymoon reaction. Timing on point 👌🏻 Always enjoy experiencing your Lana journey with you. Honeymoon has never been my fave Lana project. It's got some truly amazing songs, but for some reason, I've never jived with the album as a whole. I have a feeling, one day, I will be in the correct place in life, this album will hit me and I'll hear it completely differently. Looking forward to your next LDR reaction 🤙🏻
I love the LDR reactions I found your channel today and you just happened to drop another today. Also side note no correlation at all but I’ve been so bothered by the album covers behind you 😭 please switch rise against and Fleetwood Mac to match the color scheme for black and white on the top row and third row color scheme off white/sepia lol
This came out in the fall of 2015 and my brother died from a suicide the Spring of that year and I swear this whole album got me through the worst time in my life it's like funeral March music to me
Honeymoon the song in the album, reminds me of like if you were a stalker or like crazy person slowly swaying with your dead lover or person you love but didn’t want you in the moonlight on a hill
Terrence Loves You is often thought to refer to Terry Burns who was the half brother of David Bowie. Terry died in 1985 after struggles with mental illness. He was heavily involved in Bowie’s early life particularly in introducing Bowie to jazz. This would be consistent with the quotes from Bowie’s song Space Oddity
I’m just now getting into Lana’s work & I can see why a lot of Swifties like me feel drawn to her. Her writing is very poetic and as you pointed out, there are a lot of similarities in their storytelling. The minute you referenced Taylor and compared her lyrics, I knew you were a swiftie too. I knew there was a reason RU-vid recommended this video to me 😂 🫶
