On the first day of each month there is a nice flag raising ceremony on the waterfront near the convention center. We can see it in the distance from our office window. Here is a closer view.
@ Aris Teon This is the monthly flag raising at HK's Golden Bauhina Square. Indeed most military ceremonials in HK retain their British influences, but it is interesting to note the inclusion of chinese communist-style influences too. For instance, the flag march-in tune at 5:10 to 6:10 is "Ode to the Motherland", which is played at every chinese military flag raising when the flag party marches in (you can see an example in the Tiananmen daily flag raising videos). Also the flag toss at 9:40 is also very communist. other than those, the drill and format of the ceremony is still very much British.
