Hong Kong International Airport (IATA: HKG • ICAO : VHHH) is one of major air hub for Asia, a long with Singapore Changi Airport (SIN). Chek Lap Kok Airport is a replacement former Kai Tak Airport built in 1925.
Teminal 1 (T1) measuring 570.000 square metres (6.100.100 sq ft) is a HUGE airport, took me 40+ minutes to film this video. Note still some part of the terminal I did not filmed 🤣
At the moment HKIA is building third runway, hundreds of heavy equipment as far as I can see from the transit area. At the moment she has 90 boarding gates with 77 jet bridge.
The unique building you see in the video is The Sky Bridge. Opened on 1st November 2022 as part of HKD9 billion airport upgrade. It connect Terminal 1 to T1 Satellite Concourse (T1S). I walk on the 200 metre long and 28 metre high bridge, the view is breathtaking! This bridge is high enough for an Airbus A380 to pass underneath.
Major development is on going, I can't hardly wait to see Chek Lap Kok Airport 10 years from now 😍 I also can't wait to experience Singapore Changi Airport T5 in mid 2030's 😍
