Addison Shiu, I will definitely go back & shoot more someday. :-) Thank you for the compliment. I was there for about 11 days of shooting in the rainy spring on a video shoot for an unrelated project & these were opportunity time lapses, as they take hours to shoot sometimes. 😊

There are a number of applications used to create these kind of videos. This particular video we used Adobe Lightroom, LRT Timelapse, and Final Cut Pro X.

Most of the time I use the Panasonic Lumix 12-35mm, with the setting on 12mm at night. With optical lenses like that at night, it's difficult to achieve infinite focus on anything above the base. Some of the shots were on a Lumix 35-100MM, with the 35mm setting used for infinite focus. Thing to note about both of these lenses though is that the infinite focus isn't always where the camera lcd screen says it is. Sometimes it's a little to the left or to the right, and therefore I use the viewfinder when focusing and eyeball it because the instruments get you close but the eyes don't lie.

Thank you very much Sir. It was a lot of work with 11 nights of shooting, and took about 3 weeks of editing. Just watched this on a Samsung 4K TV, and I was relatively surprised at the quality. Of course, I'm the only one who's seen what it looks like in 4K ProRes 422HQ ;-)

John James it must be amazing hahah. Actually I was asking you because I want to start photography, night photos, and I am a bit lost. I was thinking of getting a canon 5d mark3, with tokina 11-16mm f 2.8.
