It's always nice seeing new players enjoy the game. Personally, Honkai will always have a special place in my heart. I had a really rough time the past few years and it was even hard at times to connect with my friends. I was slowly feeling lonelier and slipping into depression. But I never stopped playing Honkai. As sad as it sounds, in those times of loneliness, it was as much as a friend to me as my other friends with its constant encouragement from the Valkyries and the joy it endlessly gave. I would say it's thanks to Honkai that I'm still here today and it's something I won't be leaving behind anytime soon.

Honkai will always be in our hearts. 😔🙏 to all fellow Captain's and mihoyo. may all of us be blessed.

Been playing it for 1.5 years now and had wished I got into it earlier. The only thing I would say that people are unable to understand it is that even if it has a lot of gacha involved you are never forced to pull cause of things like FOMO. The game has SO MANY characters and so many banners that reruns of all characters happen very often. SO even if you were unable to get your favourite waifu on her release day you can hold onto your love for her, save crystals and get her the next time around which wont be very far off in the future. People need to understand just because you see a character you love doesnt mean you have to go in for it right away. YOU WILL GET A LOT OF CHANCES in a very short of period of time.

Hey there, love your cultured review. I've been playing for around 5 years now and the story, animated shorts and music really keeps me going, among many other things. Just wanted to add that spending more money for the late game can only take oneself so far, there's still learning to optimize rotations, team compositions etc. that can make a huge difference. As a light spender for battle passes, some effort and patience to get better at the game will go a long way in addition to unlocking new battlesuits and equipment. I've been enjoying your content and I look forward to more of your story react videos!

3:52 you shouldn't use mouse at all. Full keyboard is what I usually do. Left hand for character movement, right hand for normal atk/weapon skill/Ult/ELF skill and also camera pitch/yaw

I hope you will get to expierience CH25 soon, its my favorite even after the slog that was CH23 and 24. There are some fun things that you will realize after a while with the short and the song but thats for you to find Is it F2P friendly. It depends on how old is your account and how competetive are you, you can bounce around agony 3 and RL ( 2nd highest and 3rd highest tier in abyss). As someone who spend too much that he wanted to gacha is brutal and expensive on higher tiers but crystal income is also pretty nice, it all depends on how lucky are you. For your own good I recommend not spending and being fullfilled without tryhard and spending its better way to really enjoy this game

I've been playing this game for almost 5 years now and so much has changed over the years. Back then it was hard for me, no skill, rotations are sometimes tricky to use, etc. Your video more or less in line with what I think about the game nowadays, easy to play, newer valkyries are so much fun and flashy. Looking forward to more of your videos!

Honkai has been a constant presence for me in the last 3 years (as has FFXIV), and while the game has changed quite a bit, and burnout can happen, I can say I don't regret spending my time on it (and even a bit of money). The waifus are memorable and the gameplay is fun, fighting to squeeze out those few points missing to promote to a higher tier or to appear in the top100 is addicting; but you can also just complete dailies in 10 minutes of mostly autoclicking and be done for the day if you so wish! The review was pretty spot on Smug, I do hope you keep up with the game because it's extremely fun without really the need of being competitive/a whale to get things done!

Nicely summarised as a veteran myself for tackling on how should a beginner, like you, pace yourself with the game. You should try APHO Open-World sometime, it's a DMC-style gameplay with new characters (separate grind) and with a story 8 years after the main plot. Also, by 6.3 patch new players will be having a new starting supply ft. Herrscher of Human: Ego (Elysia) & Palatinus Equinox (Durandal).

you really hit all the points abt this game. Ive been playing for 2 years and I can agree with pretty much everything u said in the vid. Tho honkai hasn't always been that generous. Just 2 years ago, grinding in honkai could be pretty painful, and the game was lacking a lot of quality of life changes like newcomer guide and other stuff that it got today. The game has improved over the years and respect the playerbase. It's nice seeing new players having a good time trying out the game now :)

Also you can Find the Mangas in the game, under the Story tab on certain chapters on the bottom right, so you won´t spoiler yourself with the mangas and read them at the right time. ^^

As a veteran I can say that this is a very comprehensive breakdown of HI3 I look forward to a second part from u at midgame to endgame or even endgame And I will like to add that the 'endgame' competitveness against more veteran players isn't something to worry about Especially since there's enough players and u will be placed accordingly in the abyss and Memorial arena

For a stamina, I used all the refills early game because I was addicted to the story and now I run out of stamina every now and then. BUT I can still finish my dailies!

Great review 😁. I should add that Honkai's gacha system imo is a lot more generous than most other games. You only need 100 pulls max to get the featured character and they only have that one featured character so no 50/50s (in Flamescion's banner the only S-Ranker in it is Flamescion and nobody else) and the gear banners only need anywhere between 30 and 50 pulls to get the featured character's bespoke gear and you won't reset the pity counter from getting other non-featured 4 star gears.

this review showed at an interesting time for me. i first started playing honkai back in 2017. loved it and played (and spent ridiculous coin lol) it for a little over a year. eventually, college got too busy and my phone at the time ran out of storage so i stopped playing. fast forward to this year. i kinda missed the game and the story, so i downloaded it again. unfortunately with all the changes going on at hoyo, i lost my old account and had to start from scratch. at first i was frustrated, but i'm actually glad it happened that way because i'm actually learning the game this time around (sort of). i've been a little annoyed with the game because of trying to actually do the training plan tasks, armada stuff and cadet tasks for my sensei and i just don't have the time. then i remembered that it's my account and i can do whatever i want, so i'm going to play how i want (mostly casual i don't care for competitive content very often) and continue improving my account on my time. it's a little hard when i think about the potential rewards i could be missing out on, but i'll earn those back over time. i'd rather enjoy playing when i get the time to than rush through everything and spend time on game modes i don't care about. nice to see you enjoy the game, hope you continue to enjoy fellow captain! :)

i've been playing honkai longtime ago and when genshin come i become overwhelmed. so i abandon my honkai, but after playing genshin for 2 year straight i got no feeling on genshin and as i back to play Honkai again... seeing Kiana in her Herrscher Flamincion greeting me back inthe bridge and she say how we missed each other, just melt my heart and even after abandoning it for maybe 1 year or more there is still a tingling feeling of "Home" in this game... it might be not that open world and the grinding the weekly stuff is sometime hard (like mirage floor? something for lvl +80) but the story and the warm feeling of the game is pretty enough to make me stay to play. NB: plus if you dont like the story or too lazy to read there is A skip Button on Honkai unlike Genshin... Take note on that lah Mihoyo listening to paimon and speechless mc for 2 Hours with no real point to make is just bullshit

4 year veteran here, I agree with most of what u say in the vid, tho there are some parts of the gacha system u didnt mention. Imo the rates are very decent, and as long as u save responsibly the game will reward you a lot, especially when they are providing us with lots of guarantees. Moreover, the beginner banners are giving away absolutely bonkers units, giving a chance for noobs to catch up. I have to say from experience that I did feel burnt out after playing for 2 years since you really really need good gears and characters in order to keep up with the vets and whales, like maybe its just a me problem but I like to try really hard and it could feel defeating when you dont have what other players do, therefore not getting the same rewards as them. In the end, I'd say take a break for a month or so then come back, cuz all the effort definitely pays off as long as yk who to invest in, the game feels so much better and easier when you have all the power you need and sometimes seeing yourself winning against some whales is definitely very satisfying. p/s: it took me 3 years to catch up completely, so think about whether u want to devote urself to the game as much as i do.

I started playing this year, and what an amazing game the story is amazing and the combat too, I had already played some GATCHAS a while ago but Mihouyo's like Genshin and Honkai are impressive

since playing the game back in nov 10 2017 and never spent on it its a game of patience if you are trying to keep up with the spenders. playing better in some case, or you finally got the full team geared. I am pretty constant 10% in memorial arena and that is fine, usually staying on redlotus of lvl 88 exalted tier, which has upper difficulty called nirvana. honestly his review is correct, and for me the game came long way from a game that was only mobile. at the very last thing, I love doing finality with various character, thinking how to clear with them despite being slower clearer than others. especially argent knight.

I really like the story and all the other stuff to do besides the main story but the only thing that actually made me quit the game is that there really isn't much stuff to use my op valks on. If they ever open main story stages to have 1 slot for the story character and the rest opened for my characters to use I will come back to it.

I'm going to share this with new people. hopefully, they will fall for it and become players. this is a fair review by the way.

Dude as soon as you finish the Elysian Realm story, this games story might become one of your favourites

I've played HI3 since 2021/01/01 and I can safely say that, even if the game took me a while to catch me, I became hooked and was faced with the early-game issues about gear. This is a heavy slow burn game and you also have to decide what to spend your gacha currency on depending on future content, which will help you out a lot. You have to plan out every investment with your crystals because even if the gacha rates are really good, the pulls themselves are mad expensive to grind out. I've enjoyed how the story developed ever since I joined, near the beginning of the Fu Hua arc, and I look forward to seeing what you think of said Fu Hua arc (20-22), the 23-25 arc, the 26-28 arc and especially the 29-31 arc even if it's really heavy with reading (as you have to play Elysian Realm first for full context on the story and the characters). You still have a lot on your plate and it's nice to see you have fun with the game. Excellent title. I just wish they toned down the good stuff's pace as an endgame player. Can't get every character that easily, as well as their gear.

I've been playing about a year, and _HI3_ is my favourite game right now.

I'm fairly new to the game. I first tried playing it back when all the big anitubers were getting sponsored, then I lapsed for a while because of school, and I tried getting back into it around when Pardofelis was released. I'm still very early on in the story (Ch 3 I think), it's a bit of a slog but I'm starting to appreciate it. And I've always been a fan of hack-n-slash, so the gameplay is fun. My only real "issue" ig is the amount of content in general, it's overwhelming but I'll try to enjoy it at my own pace. And also, Ai chan is a playable character now?? Dafuq, I've missed out on so much, that scares me lmao

Despite you still not cover everything yet, your review about Honkai Impact 3rd is really hit to the point where I feel your video deserve to be share on other social site. PS: as one of f2p captain, I have experience on playing this game for over 5 years and I guarantee to any starter captain, you will not gonna regret playing it. Just take time slowly learning the game mechanic while grinding crystal for useful valk and equipment to catch up with the current Meta. Inconclusion, just skip old equipment and focus on develop the latest stable lineup for physical and elemental team. Though the game itself already set to make sure to avoid old equipment return back to gacha soo, the only thing you need to truly masterred is your valkyrie gameplay, MA boss and Abyss weather.

Honkai has been something I've been enjoying now for the past 1296 days. (4 years and 3 months) You forgot to mention some key elements about the Gacha system. On the featured supply banners, when you pull for a featured S-rank character, you are guaranteed that S-rank after 100 pulls. You won't be spooked by other characters, and you won't have to bother with Genshin's shitty 50/50 pity system. The same is with the gear banners, you might offrate some of the other gear, but your pity counter won't reset unless you get the featured gear item.

I am trying it out. I am unsure if I will stick with it, pursue more with Genshin, or hop onto Starrail in the future. Will see how much I can use time for each.

I've been playing the game for 5 years straight and my only advice for newbies is, play and enjoy the content they have put through until you get to the point wherein your in the latest update since the rewards a newbie gets is tantamount for the years mihoyo have been updating it. Enjoy while you can and especially plan what you want to get. Since newbies are already lucky to not experience its p2w days or even years when it started.

PC port was the best thing to have happened for me as a long time player, because my phone was slowly running out of space for the game. Controls can be customized, so it's up to the player to decide whether or not they use mouse and keyboard or controller. Personally I use the numpad for combat and the wasd for movement. Not sure if any controller is accepted because there's been some reddit discussions about non-PS or Xbox controllers getting the users banned? Graphics: it's been beautiful since release. Can't confirm it myself since I only found out about it two months after it came out, but if the graphics improved from release to the second month, then that's one hell of a development team. Tons of hours invested. There's a reward system for days logged in total, up to 1500 last I checked, or 1800?

Been playing this game for years and I've wondered how this must look to a new player. "Pretty damn good" seems to be the answer. Now I have a video I can reference for people who are curious about HI3. PS: I spend money on this game because I feel quality titles like this deserve it.

Ive heard and talked to people who don't want to get into the game because it is so old. I normally will tell them its def worth giving it a try as in the first 6-8 month of playing you will gets tons of currency to pull for characters. It doesn't slow down after a while as you finish the story and the beginner missions, but if you do your daily and weekly you will get around 1800-200 a week just about. I cant say Ive never spent money on the game, because I have and a lot at that, but if you're looking for a fun game to collect some very fun characters in and enjoy the fighting then I think this is prob the best mobile game out to date. Side note, if the combat or style of this game does not fit your boat, they are working on two new games coming out. Honkai Star Rail which is a tactical role playing game. And Zenless Zone Zero which is a more dougen/tower grinding game. Both look very promising and I'm looking forward to.

Is it F2P friendly? Yes, I am F2P for a year and I am at Exalted Agony 3-Red lotus which is the 2nd and 3rd highest Tier in the rank. It also like to release a free A rank that can be just grinded from shop, and in some cases grindable or free S ranks (Spina, Elysia, Sushang, etc) Probably gonna be my most favorite game for me

As a veteran player and kind of a whale myself (I whale for characters I like), I agree with your statements, I will say that when you reach level 80+, things can get really sweaty but if you have a lot of time or money to spend in the game you can overcome this. However never hope to get in the top 100 in memorial arena or abyss any week if you don't whale hard, that will be my only complain.

It's good and I had probably should've play it since year 1 but my phone was bad and the memory is like 32 GB back then so I decided not to play the game and to mention the essential P2W kinda turn me off back then. Now with a much better phone and memory storage, I missed out so much now I even if I wanted to play I missed out too much to even tried.

As much as I love this game, I would recommend trying to find out as much as possible about this game and its currency system before you start. I suffer many drawbacks because I knew almost nothing about which stigmatas were keepers and which were actually worthless. I destroyed 7 good stigmatas that were useful in Exalted and i'll prob never get them back. People making beginner guides around my time also always forget to explain the importance of Divine key stats + dorm stats. Those are important. If you don't want to hit like a wet noodle. You're going to need those stats. Thankfully, these days beginner guides have improved and discord community is always there to help a new guy out so go ask them anything.

1500 days of playing time. I think you can call me a veteran Captain now :D First time, i played because of the girls and the graphics, felt like playing an anime game. But after, the story got me. I cryed a lot of times, but i also laught a lot of times. Personaly, i never felt like i need to pay for anything in this game to make progress, but now, i am willing to pay if i realy want a new Valkirye :D

5yrs f2p no single cent spent. 10/10 honest thought for the game can't say more then all he said in this vid, last part about the flaw is really good to mention, cus some ppl do expect they'll become instant OP by whaling since it's a fkin gacha mobile game. But just like real life, no u don't, even if u're kraken lvl of spending if u didn't have the skill and grindset u're not be able catch that top veteran kraken Meta Player in this game. Money can't buy anything u know.

Honkai Impact 3 is a very casual-friendly game. I am currently a Veteran, level 85 player but is still at Chapter 5 of the story, and I have been playing HI3 for 246 days already lol. The reason why is because you can participate in limited-time events in Honkai Impact 3 so long as you are level 9 and above so its very easy to grind levels and materials.

i played this game for a while, and lemme tell you, it is very free to play friendly, even after you used story quests and such. with weeklies alone you can get a considerable amount of crystals, and for dolphins, there is a welken moon equivalent on honkai as well which has great value. there are new events constantly giving crystals, and the gacha system isnt stingy. there is no 50/50 for pity, and you will get a 4 star (max rarity) equipment piece every 10 pull, regardless of what you pull. characters are a bit harder to get, but definitely easier than genshin lmao. i played this game for around 3 years, and i never spent much money ( 6 bucks a month) and i still managed to build several teams and reach red lotus in abyss (second highest rank). really worth a try. also, waifus. lmaoo

I stopped playing this years ago because the amount of effort I would have to to put in as f2p to maintain crimson lotus abyss and the better one (forgot the name), and the 0.2% memorial arena scores was basically, spend all your stamina every day and don't waste one bit of it OR ELSE, and I just couldn't bring myself to not be all GRR I MUST WIN. That and there was some power creep with the new characters, which I was able to get, but then there was power creep with their special weapon too (or armor sets), and I just couldn't keep up in that regard, especially because I never DID get that OP Teri unlock. I forget the name, The one that debuffs boss' defense by a ton or something. I forget. I saved up like 20k crystals for Teri's birthday and they made her birthday the S rank suit th at nobody l ikes (VE I think it was called?) instead of the good one that basically everyone uses to get the high rank abyss/arena or whatever it was. Honestly though Honkai is a much much better game to be involved in th an Genshin. Genshin is really cool and exciting while it's new and you're exploring everything for the first time. But once your'e done t hat. Farming for artifacts and stuff is just painful and annoying, and there's nothing to do at end-game but its abyss, which I felt was less f un and MORE time consuming than Honkai's. But Honkai didn't just have abyss, it had memorial arena, as well as its seasonal 'roguelike' things.. And one other endgame competition thing, I forget the name. Finally, truth is, while Genshin has a lot more fanart and stuff, Honkai's waifu's are far more waifuier =P. Though one t hing I prefer in Genshin for long-term gameplay is the constellation thing. 1 dupe = one constellation, which are often nice but not major. In Honkai, you need like 3 dupes, then 6, then 9 or something. I forget, to unlock the character upgrades, and the character upgrades aren't minor, they're huge. I just wish that you could use different battlesuits as purely cosmetics for each class. For example, default Teri was useful with her Judah weapon, but I wish I got to wear luna kindered while acting as that class since the luna kindered class wasn't as good with Judah (If only dupe weapons were as good, I had 4 Judahs, and I didn't even try getting any after the 1st! argh. I got th em all while trying to get some effing katanas because the only 5 star katana I could get were effing 3rd sacred relics, w hich I also had 3 of. The only other 5 star katana I had was the special one for flame sakitama, which made her my best character until I got herscherr of reason even though I never got her special weapons or armor (I forget what the armor was called, not tatoo).

Use pc client instead of steam because it pc client would allow you to play with your mobile while steam client only allow you to play with your steam account.

thing that really put some veteran off is how they balancing new vs old players. old valkyries became irrelevant after 1-2 years sometimes even earlier than that. I played on sea server for 5 years and most of my friend already stop playing. New player has lot of crystals source compare to veteran and new valkyrie will replace the old meta especially the sp rank and herrscher so veteran that has fully geared valkyrie means nothing if they're irrelevant.

I'm converted from honkai to pgr and yes the suffering still continue to haunt me the grind

I'm a f2p and played since release... I stop multiple times for years and return multiple times, I regret that cuz I only have 4 full geared character... If I didn't stop playing 2 years maybe I got at least 8-9 full geared character... So even if you are f2p in time you can still go head 2 head to whales, whales advantage is they got more time to enjoy everything while f2p primary focused in grinds 😂✌️ but still you can enjoy the game even f2p Oh btw Im playing this game with 5 accounts 😂😂 the spending event to is a must for me😂✌️

Better than genshin for sure, no doubt about it. I say that being max level in both games.

As a veteran and a F2P, my greatest pleasure in this game is to watch people struggling in Abyss since im also gasping for air in EX-Red Lotus
