Hoyofair animation is not officially made by hoyoverse, its all submitted by fans tho the actual hoyofair events is officially supported and marketed by hoyo.

Haha, Gaze of the Abyss is NOT official, HoyoFair is a fan event that happens a few times every year for fans to submit content. Most of KEIRU’s animation work is speculative, and this one is if you (main character as Aether) joined with your Abyss sibling Lumine (she was the one in the mirror) So it’s not canon! I did mention it in the comment where I put the link, but I suppose I should’ve put it BEFORE the link. Sorry for the confusion!

About Xiao's story being intertwined with Venti: there's a theory that the kind of Vision a person receives reflects their personality and their wishes. Anemo being tied to freedom, Pyro to passion, etc. It's mentioned that, for example, Noelle was really disappointed when she received her Geo Vision (because she wanted an Anemo vision to represent Mondstadt and the Knights of Favonius), but it is precisely because her unyielding determination to join the Knights and uphold tradition, that she received a Geo vision. Her principles are solid as stone and she seeks duty, not freedom.

HSR story can be as dark as they want, but truly for me what's best about the game is they know your time is precious and they made the game really time effective so you don't have to worry about playing 2 gacha games. Also I think the gameplay in star rail is much more strategic and interactive which is combined by the fact it has so many endgame modes, makes it really replayable and is content farmable.

The animation with Dainsleif isn't official. It's from HoyoFair and is just an official fan art appreciation program for hoyoverse games. Their channel has a ton of great fan works.

Once you get to Sumeru, it'll open up a WHOLE HUGE group of videos we can send in, because the entire Sumeru Crew gets together very often for collaborations and playing games. I can't wait for you to see that! Oh, and I won't tell you who the character is, but Joe's going to be doing another music video for a character in Fontaine, that'll be out sometime this year! It'll almost definitely be out by the time you get to Fontaine 😂 ETA: i realized i talked up Erika and missed Joe and felt bad 😂 Joe is also a great guy, i had some interactions with him through a Kickstarter he made for that mentioned upcoming MV, and he's a really genuine person. absolutely the type of person to pick you up when you're feeling bad and shake you out of it ☺

one of my favorite things about Xiao and Venti is how completley Polar opposite they are, and yet how much Xiao wishes he could be like venti. during one of the lantern rites, Xiao talks about how carefree and happy Venti always appears to be, and how he spends much of his time amongst humans, and that he wishes he could do the same but its just not possible for him

"You got rejected for work??" Calvin, it was actually even funnier. So in that time before windblume, we had the first lantern rite event in liyue. We worked doing commissions here and there, running around the errands, to make sure the event ran smoothly, while barely meeting the playable characters. And right after that we went to windblume festival and the people there was like "What??? Why do you wanna work in this festival day???" And we got to see many mondstadt characters. The first windblume was really fun.

The animation is good to watch that you won't get spoiled but at the same time you can get a glimpse of the characters.

FYI: Joe Zieja plays/voice actor in Genshin as well playing the role of Wriothesley in the game. His character in Genshin is known for his baked cake. haha. lol.

1:05:58 ("let the wind tell you") Don't know if you already know this, but since you didn't talk about it during your reaction, let me just add a bit of info about this song: not only are the characters singing in-character here, their parts are also being sang by their actual Chinese voice actors. So yes, the real voice actors for Klee, Qiqi, Venti and Xiao sang this. A lot of the Chinese voice actors for Genshin are pretty good singers, the voice actress for Venti does quite a lot of cover songs on her channel on bilibili (kinda like the Chinese equivalent of RU-vid). The voice actor for Xiao (who also voices Chongyun) also do cover songs from time to time, and has collaborated with the voice actor for Male Traveller (and also Scaramouche) on a few cover songs. The song "Yellow", which appeared in this video of yours here, at 1:01:12 (the Childe one), happens to be one of those songs covered in a collab between these two. Not sure if it would make a good reaction video for you to watch on Roamer Reacts, since it's just a song with no visuals, and one in Japanese at that. But if anyone want to check it out, just search "yellow kinsen" on youtube. (Kinsen is the Chinese voice actor for Xiao, 鹿喑kana is Male Traveller/Scaramouche)

Please, Calvin, watch those past Genshin events in full, not just the recaps!!! Many people post pretty much every dialogue that happens on these events on RU-vid that you could watch in a video. They are so good, you'll enjoy them a lot! They make the world feel so much more alive and even show many characters that otherwise don't interact in the main quests doing fun stuff together. Some characters also appear exclusively in events (like Xinyan or Mika) or get a much greater focus in events (like Klee). You could maybe replace one of the Genshin videos of the week with past event reactions from time to time, since they can take a lot of time (some of them are 2-4 hours; Unreconciled Stars and Windblume Festival take about 1h-1h30 each) Also, I really like the idea of the Shorts with funny Genshin moments!

Oh also, fun fact: canon material for Genshin will always have the main character as the male protagonist, Aether. And though some complain (for some reason) it makes complete sense, given the twins are their own characters and serve different roles depending on which you pick. To change these positions up, even in just one video, would cause a massive amount of confusion for no good reason. It doesn’t exactly apply here, because KEIRU was using this formula as well, but so you don’t have any misunderstandings, there will never be official content using Lumine where you would see Aether.

you can play Baizhu's quest soon if you want but the story quests in are listed in order in that list and his is later kind of for a reason, it's more interesting if it's another perspective on a big topic that comes up in the last acorn quest in Sumeru

I recommend that you create a HSR account now and at least get the free passes. So, you can at least pull more when you finally decided to play.

An easy way to know whether something is official, canon for Genshin (or in the future, Honkai Star Rail), would be checking whether the video is uploaded by the official *"Genshin Impact"/Honkai Star Rail"* channel. If it is uploaded to the channel *"Hoyofair"* then that's ALL fan creation, fan animation, but uploaded/promoted by Hoyoverse. Their interpretations will always be fan interpretations. And of course, if the video in question is uploaded from neither channel, then that's also obviously a fan creation. And of course, the event recaps, if they're good, should recap past events faithfully. Also, damn, story progress-wise, I guess you really are still at 1.4/1.5, what was two-three patches before Inazuma's 2.0 release. The 1.6 Summer Event's recaps are probably going to be recommended soon. Also, sheesh. We're getting an Inazuma festival next patch (4.6) less than 20 hours, and you'll probably reach Inazuma sometime during it. (Though the festival itself should start a few days from now.) Damn, it's 4.4's Lantern Rite all over again for you.

Since you've played Xiao's story quest I recommend playing the Perilous Trails quest. It involves Xiao again and a certain place you've been to recently. You'll meet some new and familiar faces in this quest but nothing too spoilery or anything out of order you need to worry about. I think it's something you'd enjoy very much.
