I remember coming back to this game like, once every year or two, it was comforting seeing how cheesy and unserious it was, looking at the crazy new skins, all the odd new characters it always put a smile on my face. When I saw it was being shut down for good it felt like a family member dying, not a close one but like, a distant relative you'd see every so often. It hurt a lot more than I expected. I'll miss you HoN, I'll miss u a lot Cthuluphant forever!!

Omg Amun-Ra was SO broken that even after years of not playing anymore, my friends and I get a laugh everytime we remember those times.

Thank you so much for covering Riftwalker! Played her religiously ever since she came out, and the youtube montages of her gameplay will always send chills down my spine. I guess closest we have now is Orianna, but i will never, ever, ever forget how satisfying landing these 5 man combos are, absolutely demolishing enemy teams. And man, they just had to make her sassy. A woman after my own heart- nope that's simping territory nope nope nope Either way, thank you so much Dennis!

I loved playing Scout just for the line "I walk the road of vengeance", as a kid I found that so awesome! My favorite hero is always gonna be Kinesis, coolest mechanic EVER in a moba, I really miss it!

My favorite memory of this game would be one game I played Pestilence. It was one of those games where you just have a good time and make minimal mistakes that everyone, including the enemy team, complimented my gameplay after the match. It was a nice memory during my teenage years. RIP HoN.

I will remember hon forever best game i have played with my friends even tho i played as a support i still always made alot of game changing plays. My favorite plays was when i played blacksmith support and took down 3 enemy heroes and won the game and that time when played as pearl who at level 6 took down 2 heroes near there tower and score a double kill while my carry was safe and healthy. Im gonna miss you hon thanks for all those years

I remember first playing Hon in 2012 and it being the first Moba I had ever played and I was told to pick rampage and just kept feeding... I felt so bad after getting better at the game and understanding what the goal was. Such great memories

I actually really like this cause I never got to play HON back in the day and their ideas and concepts are really interesting

I still vividly remember, when I did not know much about the game, I would often pick Scout... such fun times! Back when warding the camp rune was a thing in HoN.

I played hon for such a short time but i absolutely loved Tarot. She was so fun to play

growing up, I "enter" in the world of gaming and the gamer lifestyle when a local internet cafe opened, spending hours and hours ( 13-14 years old) most of the people played dota but I got no money for so many hours, so the most i could do is watch and learn. When HoN came online was just a new beginning, the opportunity to play a moba at last since i wasnt able to ( the years pass and i got internet at home). I still remember the first feelings i got when i saw it on beta weekend test runs. LOVED THE ESTHETICS, the characters was a whole new world to learn again after dota and since it supposed to be the next dota( never forget :P ) i felt good knowing already some stuff ( items - heroes ) Something specific was that i didnt have to memorize the item combinations. AT LAST i got the fixed item build system :) felt so good and convincing. RIP HoN... U'll be missed ...Hope to see u again one way or another :')

Scout was such an iconic hero, probably the most known hero in the game. I'm proud to say at least that I eventually figured out how to play him very well and actually ended up even performing well in the early games. But once you get that early Runed Axe you just felt like nothing could stop you any longer.

I'm kinda sad there won't be any more of these videos. They're really chill and I like hearing about the kits of these characters. I played HoN maybe a handful of times in highschool and I thought it was messy, completely unbalanced, and kinda ugly, but I think that's why I liked it lmao. I was a fan of The Dark Lady, Fayde, and the butterfly character to name a few. Riftwalker was also a favorite of mine, I just never played her much.

Was able to persuade some of my friends to play this. Just my opinion, this is better than other MOBAs out there that are still operational. Would really miss this.

My favorite is definitely Moira I just love how her ult set up for my teammates to follow up and the added bonus is that I don't need to be near the fight to be useful

my favourite heroes probably were Empath, Monarch and Martyr. all very unique supports with huge impact. was so satisfying to land a big aoe cleanse at the right moment, or save my carry with a last second heal to 90%. and empath was always fun because of the wall spell, its so good and chilling inside an ally does make teamfighting on a squishy support so much less stressful. now of course LoL took this concept to its extreme with yuumi, a much inferior hero and totally bullshit to play against. oh I also love Maliken! He is pretty much like the old Aatrox (although Maliken is much older), but better in every way: both had a Q that provided CC and mobility, but Malikens sword throw does offer more utility, since it synergizes with his W. speaking of which both their W's could be toggled to either grant bonus dmg at the cost of hp, or lower dmg and hp restoration. both had an IAS steroid passive, that got stronger the lower their hp was. I admit that Aatrox' was slightly more sophisticated. and their ults made them grow bigger and have more attack range. but I guess we can all agree Maliken was much cooler, ranged attacks, fearing enemies, made him a great initiator, and HoN (and dota) always had and have the more interesting items compared to LoL, so shrunken head made Maliken into a real threat, whereas Aatrox was basically a Tryndamere, who relied more on sustain and staying alive through insane lifesteal rather than crit and being immortal for 5 seconds. anyway, I loved Maliken, great design, much fun to play, felt relatively balanced and his hero spotlight is one of my favourites. go watch it now.

My favorite hero was Artillery. One of my most memorable game of HON was when my team lost 3 barracks at 50 min. I was the most farmed hero on my side so I sold my boots and got 2 Doom Bringers. Then the next 30 min of the game become siege mode where my team go full tank item and stun and let me bombard the enemy with my 1. I got so much kill my total attack from 2 Doom Bringer (it's divine Rapier that got +10 dmg for each hero you kill, the item keep the bonus even when it drop. ) and other item reach 1000 damage.

Its truly sad this game was shut down, hopefully Dota 2 will soon acquire aspects of this game like heroes and items and allow HoN to live on...

I remember when Riftwalker was revealed I used to joke how she was League's Kassadin long lost daughter, because of her pallete and void powers. I know we can't ask more of you, since you've done more than enough with these videos, but there are currently community made servers that are still available to play. Think I already shared this, but my fondest memory was the ~2 hour game I had to save with Madman after my whole team left. Shrunken head, and Harkon's made that game for me. Rest in peace sweet game, I'll always remember you.

My favourite moment? I was in a game and immediately when starting up one of the other players playing the big dead tree went "dont worry I might be a girl but I know how to carry". No one accused her of anything this was completely out of the blue. She did carry as well which was nice.

Hon will always be my biggest heartbreak. It just had a huge potential because it was so advanced during its time. I would almost stretch it to saying that it would be in dota's position right now had they steered it to the right direction

Makes sense that Riftwalker reminds you of League, her W and E are pretty much Nasus W and E and her Ult is similar to plenti of League champs too, funnily enough our Rift Walkers Ult is fairly different though, as he can warp around all the time with barely any cast time, but has no stun on it

I think you oughta do more of these. Especially since there's heroes like Oogie, Nitro, Apex, Xemplar... Not to mention, HoN isn't dead yet. There's an underground movement to keep it alive!

My favorite is the plinko. Yeah it's a gotcha but if you don't want a particular skin, it a great bet. For the prices of the skin for the skins you get, it's a better option. All my ultimate avatar except for Flint Beastwood is gotten there(and I had 7). Man that was great.

Gemini, the hero that I didn’t think I like, didn’t think I used much, didn’t think has a good KDA ratio using it, but it was my 5th most used hero just after Scout, Dampeer, Solstice and RA. Gemini is also the 3rd best KDA ratio heroes I use after Scout and Dampeer, and recalling the memories, I used Gemini only when I’m playing with friends, that means for fun!

Aaah scout, sad that you didnt put in the codex lvl 5 music video there :p It is sad to see HoN go out, but my most memorable moments there is a good friend I made, and the absolute asshole he was with spam chat emotes. We would play religously for a couple of years, and we both became quite good players (even though we were mostly memeing, we were about 1800-1900 rating). I remember, what was it, HoNcast? whatever it was and the community events. I tried to join every time and I managed to join once. Though watching the cast I was sad to see the casters dunking and questioning many of my moves, even though I carried quite a bit. anyhow. It is also where I streamed most of my days at the time, and though I never garnered a viewership it was fun to share highlights with my buddy. A great game, I swore i was gonna check it out before it ended but kinda forgot. Thanks for making these videos for a few nostalgia points. Sad you didnt get to go over one of the most fun heroesin my opinion, Balphagore. Actually reminiscing now, I just love how hard the game went into just taunt culture. just embracing the toxicity made the matches quite fun with taunts and announcers with such variety, unlike most stuff these days, it really embraced the TF2 emotes. I remember when scout was broken where you just need to rush battle furry and you're good to go and his q was enough to traverse the entire map till he got nerfed but still OP since no one is selfless enough to buy detection

I missed out on HoN but that's probably for the best. I'd have tried to play a support Riftwalker and focused on clutch set ups and saves with Cascade Event. I hope we see people inspired by the likes of HoN and try their hand at making their own mobas in the future, full of just as many memes and dreams.

How about another video about some more unique hero mechanics, like zephyr, gauntlet, silhouette, rally, tbh theres lot of new mechanics from hon as far as i can remember since vector targetting was 1st debuted by HoN

I played with a friend i still hang out with. I remember one time we made a custom game with the rule that you could play the same hero. Of course we made everyone pick scout. But it didn't matter how good they were. Once we hit lvl 6 we could just pick a target they were just dead

My older brother(6 years gap) used to play this game so much when I was 9. I think it just recently came out when I was at that age

If you buy insanitarious on Gemini, you would get all the strength bonuses from the activated item even after you split. Its a cheap item to give your wolves a little more durability in the early game.

Wish we had more time for you to cover Parasite, Gauntlet, Cthulhuphant, Pandamonium, Zephyr etc. Here's hoping Icefrog goes full madlad and purchases the rights to HoN and starts porting heroes to Dota 2.

I played flint beastwood with spellshards and codex, you can kill squishy heros with just 1st and last skill if they survive just throw the codex at them, and when the courier was still controllable i put codex on them to kill of unsuspecting low hp enemies for laughs

You are still able to play using custom servers! Not the best way to play but for your purposes it should definitely be enough. Check out HeroesOfNewerth subreddit, there are a few threads about it all the time nowadays!
