@joshuatomson5998

@@JK-dv3qeExactly this tomb is meant to honor fallen American soldiers who fought bravely for their country and their families. It is especially meant to honor those remains of American soldiers who haven’t been identified. This is meant to honor the millions of Americans who have served their country in times of war when America needed them the most. It isn’t the military’s fault if the civilians don’t leave the area of war. You can’t blame the military for civilian casualties even though it’s sad but they have zero knowledge of civilians staying in places of war during bombings or invasions. The one thing we can control is not bombing or using missiles on Civilian Buildings like Hospitals, Schools, Police Stations, Fire Stations, Subways, Airports, and other important civilian areas that the military doesn’t use. So I say how dare you mention civilians causalities when the Japanese navy caused civilian casualties at Pearl Harbor.

I come from a rich military heritage. Family served in all our branches. Our family was touched by Japan in wwii. G uncle was lost at sea in pacific. Grandpa was a POW in Japan. I got to visit local friend of mine in Japan when I lived in Korea. Fun to see her in her environment. Met her lovely family and neighbors. It was a short but nice visit. We are still friends. This was a touching ceremony. Hail the brave travelers gone to soon. May we learn the art of peace as well as we learned the art of war.

I was a proud member of the US Coast Guard Band around 1974-75. We trained in the same barracks with the Color Gaurd and the Honor Gaurd - "Oscar" Company. The amount of training and disciple involved is unimaginable to the average person. Those are real rifles, M1 carbines, 14 pounds with fixed bayonets. Those white gloves are cotton, very slippery handling the heavy rifles. One day in training an honor guardsman had his rifle with bayonet slip through his hand and cut it wide open. This stuff is not childs play.

The Naval Honor Guard made me proud of his service and gave him a good bye fit for a king. I can still hear taps and the 21 gun salute to this day and value the empty bullet i received from them. At his graveside service looking at the headstone of all who went before him, i was equally brought to tears looking at my 2 oldest sons and daughter in law, Army, National Guard and Marine and prayed that all would return safety from Iraq and Afghanistan if theirs units deployed again. I thank God he sent my daddy as their guardian angel.

Always get a lump watching the Honor Guards. I was in The Old Guard in 1972 (Charlie Guard). We did a Battalion full-honor arrival for General of the Army Omar Bradley at the Pentagon. Spaced out across the steps somewhat like this but at double-interval, we were at Present Arms as the General made his way up. He was about 80 then and a little slow, so he stopped along the way to speak to some of us. Suddenly he stopped in front of me and spoke; I responded and he moved on. Later after we withdrew, guys asked me what he said. But I didn't know - those 5 stars on each shoulder in a little pentagon shape had me dumbfounded. The guys beside me didn't hear it either, but said I answered "Yes Sir" so at least I didn't embarrass myself too bad. Just hope it fit the question!!

The United States honors it’s war dead and those who died after their service, and irregardless of what side they fought on. There is graves from the Confederate Army located in their own section of Arlington Cemetery. A few years ago British soldier’s remains were found from a battlefield from the War of 1812, the body was handled with dignity and a honor guard from the UK took it back to England.
