Honouring Truth and Reconciliation Through Action
As we reflect on Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we share our work in collaboration with the sməlqmix-Lower Similkameen Indian Band, and partners to restore the land after the devastating Crater Mountain wildfire in 2023.
Through Tree Canada’s National Greening Program, we are supporting a multi-year reforestation effort in the Ashnola River watershed. Over 46,000 trees will be planted in 2024, with a goal of 840,000 trees by 2027, addressing critical issues of fire resilience, biodiversity, and food sovereignty.
This project represents a step toward healing the land and advancing environmental and cultural sustainability for future generations.
