On Sunday, 1 July 2018, the NSW Rail Museum run a special farewell tour for steam locomotive 3642. The tour ran from Sydney with double 44 Class diesel-electric units, 4403 and 4490. At Picton, double-headed steam in the form of 3526 and 3642 took the 11-car train up the Southern Highlands to Moss Vale and return to Picton before the 44s took over again.
