One of our main problems is that if you do a little research, you will find that 75% of the land in Shreveport ( rather it's commercial or residential) is owned by people who either stay out of the state or companies who only care about getting the next check. As long as they put money in the pockets of the Parish board and the city council, they don't have to worry about doing any general maintenance on their properties
Get rid of the old Democrats and fire the right people. Shit ain't never going to change if we keep getting Democrats in office. The party of the KKK don't care about you or me. I've lived in Shreveport for 50 years.
Tons of people that own land here are from here but live in California or Chicago or some place off. We had a dear lease once and the lady that owned it came in and basically called the law and had us kicked out. We were keeping up the land and making sure the road in and out was right. She left back to California and she hasn't been back to it since 07. When she did this they had just put a new oil well in and we built the fence around it.
The bigger problem is that technology has eroded industrial-based jobs in S'port as it has all over the nation and the world. If folks are not technology-trained they are left behind in obsolete skills. It's a whole new world from even 30 years ago.
This is like Vegas in many ways. So many hotel rooms with three new huge being built & we have no water. It is insane the way city council approves anything that brings dollar signs to their eyes. The landscape in Shreveport is gorgeous. There is a military base with hospital, so lots of retired military here.
@@Danny........ yep and after so long had she not came back and claimed the land as hers, you could have claimed it as yours. Seems like she did the right thing and protected her investment. Smart lady.
I walked those streets for many years my old hood in Shreveport called Lakeside !! Many professional and well mannered people came out of there . Thank the Lord for Lakeside !
Still looks pretty bad. How come no one fixes it up if they love it so much? That’s like me saying I love my house but allowing it to fall apart and getting mad if someone calls me out on my pile of filth.
@@lordthorby6199 no one fixed it because the state of la bought all the houses to run the interstate threw there and they never completed the project. So it's in that condition now. They own all the land.
I can't believe this comment only has 8 thumbs up. It's only the best fucking fried chicken in the south. Mansfield got the best Southern Classic, though.
I pass thru Shreveport sometimes on I 20 going to Dallas. The city looks good on the freeway with casinos, the mall and a small skyline in downtown. But I never knew it was that bad in the hoods. I'm glad I stayed in the casinos and downtown.
Whole other world on the east side of the river. Bossier Parish got more law patroling the streets than anywhere i've ever seen, and back in the day you would get your ass beat for rolling through a stop sign in Bossier City. I can't say it didn't send the message they were trying to send, though. For the most part, that bullshit stays west of the Red River.
The fact that he is showing an neighborhood that the city has brought and neglected starting to rub me the wrong way don't get me wrong I'm sure every state has some run down areas as well as some nice ass areas I lived in Vegas in my early twenty's and please believe it's some very ruff areas there as well as reno.. as an person from Shreveport live in Shreveport it's some nice areas here.. I'm an local artist here n I love it here in the process of opening my own store,, buying land now me and my husband has startin building an tiny house community.. I will say my little city is blooming not too much racial hate we all do our thing and keep it pushing.. but shout out to shreveport🥰
Shotgun houses, they don't typically mean poverty, it was just a building code enacted in New Orleans to try to minimize space usage and lower fire danger. The style of house is iconic so it spread around the state
@@derricknelson2591 Oh, Well most people are born into poverty they don’t choose it. I’m pretty certain if they had a choice they wouldnt have chosen to be brought up in poverty. Some people have an advantage of getting out of it while others don’t.
We use to walk the streets bare foot and pick berries and walk to the corner stores and play hop scotch in the streets cause we didn't have sidewalks in the part i stayed in but those were the GoodOlDays😭😭
I lived all thru this area bacc In the early 2000's...Logan st, Poland st, down in the Bottomz on Lawrence st...this whole area gotta lotta history in it frfr....
I grew up in Shreveport and still have a sister in Bossier. It has changed a lot since I left there. We grew up in the area where the old municipal pool was located.
I live on east 75 street in cedar grove before the highway was built. Shreveport was in decline and that was the eighties. My grandma drove a bookmobile . I lived staying with her. It was not like today we knew we were poor but we can drive around and go the the 70 street grocery store without fear .
Probably my all time favorite video and I’ve watched several of yours. Love the south and the green lush foliage. These “ shot gun houses” are totally intriguing, poverty isn’t a good part, but eye opening for sure.
Living in Shreveport(in an upiddy area) I've noticed that if you present your property as nice, you must screw down whatever you want to keep. Crime is so bad, our backwards city council and mayor do nothing but pad their pockets at expense of citizens. We've become mini Chicago, but that's what you can expect when you vote it people who want to focus on their own interest and the interest of people who do nothing for the city but take take take whatever they can.
If we get rid of our Democrats,we would be living a lot better in Shreveport. The mismanagement of our city is disgusting. I really hope Adrian Perkins loses his appeal.
I was in 318 in the bricks heard a person say be careful 5 times that was my key to get out while we can from Shreveport Monroe to Ruston nothing but murders
I live in Shreveport. Shreveport is a total dump full of major crime. It’s a sad place.. this city needs Jesus but our churches won’t stand on anything but money
I was born in Bossier City at the Air Force Base where I spent the first 13 years living there, and it wasn’t love there mane. There was nothing good about living in Shreveport except for gangs and violence. It’s too many hoods out there and few of the neighborhoods were the subdivision. I have little memories about Shreveport and the city has changed a lot since I moved out of there. It’s not a place to raise your families. I’m glad I live in Florida now. Florida is second home to me and always will be. There isn’t a mall on Jewella Ave at all as I remembered. It used to be a mall before they build a church out there. I used to live on Youree Dr, Earl St, etc. Also, I hated going to the hospitals out there and it will terrified me to death.
And as an person who stayed in Florida I'm for sure that's not an safe place to raise ur kids.. I stayed in Vegas Reno and Maine and when I tell u it's areas like this in every state so ur comment is kinda silly.. Im from Shreveport has moved back I'm an local artist here n I love it I stay n an safe environment don't hear gun shoots all day as u claim smh
Y'all have had the same mayor for 4 terms.. shouldn't that say something about y'alls choice? If you don't want to live in trash you have to throw it away....
Donaldsonville use to be awesome growing up in the 70s. Had the most beautiful Black women ever and in abundance. It was once the capital of Louisiana. It is run down now - SMH
I remember the first time I was in Shreveport hurricane chris just came out with his song "aye baby baby" and he came back to do a show and the club was so packed that their was people outside of the club watching at least I think it was him it's been that long
@christopherwebb8345 Big problem in many cities is huge development companies push and push people to sell their homes and plots. Often, these are rental properties so residents become displaced. Then, they demolish all structures and rebuild land with outrageously expensive modern housing buildings, which take up almost every inch of the land. No more grass. No more trees. No more affordable housing. Gentrification at it's finest. Third Ward Houston my hometown hood, and it's not even recognizable any more. I miss the big open spaces, overgrown vegetation, and simplicity of Shreveport. To me, even the unkept properties are beautiful.
I think the only way we will make our country and communities stronger and safer is if we make people face the death penalty for certain crimes… carjacking, robbery, arson, Shootings (Not self defense)…. It seems archaic but it solves the issue
Yes it would be nice to live somewhere cheap to be able to save money but when you live somewhere cheap you have to worry about getting shot, robbed, stabbed and car-jacked..
These death penalty cases sit for years and some never die from being put to death, but by natural causes. I do agree something different needs to be done for repetitive horrific crimes.
That’s really not gonna reduce those crimes. That’s not how it works. Criminals don’t care about the punishment. There’s tons of research and studies out there that show that the death penalty doesn’t prevent crimes
@@crittice_ not all areas of our town are like that. There's some gorgeous architecture and deep history here. I know it seems bad, but some of these neighborhoods are home to historical sites and some areas are abandoned because the state bought it up to run interstates through. They didn't spend the money to demo all that out. They've just left it to dilapidate. Our citizens would have it differently if they could.
Can't wait too move outta shreveport Louisiana.. .THE COST OF RENT IS 2X MORE HIGHER. FOLKS CANT AFFORD NOTHING TOO HIGH OR SOME MOVIBG OUT THEY EXPENSIVE RENT APTS
I hate to say this as a black man but if you're a black man or woman you have to live in areas where it's a low percentage of us unless it's maybe Atlanta, DC or Charlotte..When it's a lot of us things tend to go downwards..
Claro que sí se ve y mucho más: Gran San Luis, Gran Mendoza, Gran San Juan. Gran Resistencia, Formosa, Posadas, Corrientes. Gran Tucumán, Gran Catamarca, Salta, Santiago del Estero, Jujuy, La Roja....
ok enough of the southern and midwest west coast states,go north ny vermont wyoming montana etc....branch out......time for a change don't ya think..expand your horizons bubba..upstate ny...near the canadian border Plattsburgh etc.
There isnt any ghettos in montana wyoming or vermont lol maybe some trailer parks but theyd still look better than 90 percent of the hoods charlie visits
