The other thing is it doesn't initially have to be just at the edge, as long as it's extended into the useful range and the weight don't take it to the deformations at its outer ranger, you can put the zero/ballance point anywhere in the line.
If you go outside the limits of Hooke's law it's all about "tensors" (stress/strain matrices), - similar to Einstein's General Relativity! If you want help with that, I'm of limited use b/c it's mostly beyond me tbh. 😵
While DS struggles to comprehend how a spring works, I think he would agree that the spring compression or extension over the same displacement is the same amount of energy or work, regardless of what is causing the compression or extension.. If it's extended or compressed more then it obviously takes more energy for that to happen.👍😊
@@_John_Sean_WalkerAh yes John, thank you for the clarification, all springs compression or extension have an existing amount of stored potential spring energy within them and only when they are compressed or extended are they doing work.👍😊
Gary Mosher is not going to buy it. He does not buy things that are before his very eyes. Gary Mosher is no Platonist neither, that would mean he goes for string theory and leaves the rest aside. Gary Mosher is a fantasy man, wanting to get wrong formulae for real phenomena. He does that in order to prove that life is shit. If he cannot prove that all is deterministic and there is no quantum mechanics, maybe then people will start believing in his fatalism. Don't get me wrong: I am a determinist as well, but only in the meso- and macro-realms. That the universe will die the heat death is pretty certain. Then however, if we human can understand nature enough, maybe we will be able to change phenomena in the meso- and macro-realms based on quantum mechanics going up. I really can imagine that that is possible. We have already changed quantum states and therefore determined quantum states in other universes (of the multiverse). That means human beings, with their billion dollar machinery and the quantum eraser experiment have changed what Gary Mosher claims to be unalterable. If we can beam bucky balls over the Danube, then it follows that we can really change bigger things. Now we are working on quantum computation, and these quantum machines change the flow of quantum states. So, even if these effects have been quite tiny up-to-date, I really think, we can get them to act in the "half-world" of everyday things and maybe even on the scale of galaxies or the whole universe. We could then reverse the heat death of the universe and live forever. So life would not be shit, Gary, since, we don't have to die, and we can be happy forever and ever.
