I had a '64 Renault R8 in high school. 1700 pounds, 43 hp from 1108 cc's, 4.12 gears. The water-cooled engine was hung waaay out back. With sacked out swing axle rear suspension and rock-hard weather-checked 135/15 Michelins, it would do the sweetest donuts all day...
Perfect time to come across this video today as Scottos Audi build unveiling dropped today too.. "I might get it running one day... Its gunna be dope."
Thousands of people have put millions of hours into Sprites and Midgets just like this one on race tracks all over the world. A properly tuned A series engine is a beautiful thing and this car deserves a place in the right garage.
Well this was rather entertaining! Making me want to have a go at drifing my 72 1275..... Might do that with a video! Still... I would love to get my mitts on that motor and tinker
ohhh my god.... this dt brought a tear to my eye bc my father had a midget when i was only 5 but had to sell it bc times weren't easy. i feel the need to find it, if it still exists
Rematch! Too much uncertainty and no one can really claim a solid win. I would just call this day, "Two dudes take turns blowing out a hoonigan booty".
Don't know if it's possible but it be awesome to disconnect the Busa motor from the transmission of the motorcycle and then have like Collins adapters or somebody make you a special adapter to go from the Busa motor to the midget transmission so you still had reverse and everything and actually made that into a really super nice car with real power, nice modern suspension, and stuff.
I've got one. Not good. Low power, little to no heat, not rain proof, bad body lean, tiny tires, always breaking down. The list goes on. That's why I'm converting it to electric and gonna sell it ASAP.
Here's a person from the UK responding as predicted :-). Check out Will Corry Motorsport for what we do with Midgets in Ireland and the UK. Also have a gander at what we do with Midgets in sprints, hill climbs and circuit racing :-)
forks ,someone else knows what a rockford is!!! that is the first time I've heard that in a long time...grand rod run, pigeon forge. used to have a burnout comp. over 40 year ago...i love it still. even though they don't do it anymore. tore the place down. used to to it right out front the main entrance. this is way better than anything on cable...don't sell out, please. elf
was gonna say I hope they don't post the video of haggard lurking at the Hoonigan Garage but I know it's not gonna happen 😅 good! looking forward to the footage of LZ tho
Busa has 2 times the power? try 3, if this were making the full 60 too. One guy I think did put a busa in it but his design didn't work well as a clutch replacement meant full engine removal, which the motorcycle clutch didn't like the extra weight (be it not heavy for a car, but bike yes). Rover/Buick 215 are common, 4age, k20 and others as well. I think I might get one and run the stock one and then possible a duratec swap.
The engine from a Honda S2000 would fit, and is already rwd. A friend of mine did this swap years ago, can't remember whether he used the Honda or Midget transmission though.
i wish i could find a nice MG B by me for fair $ . my dad had one in college and his insurer made him get rid of it . 3 sets of wheels were stolen back then and each set equal to like 1/2 the cost of the car each time. after he passed, my mom found the receipt for when he bought it and plan to frame it . id toss a red top SR into it though . always wanted to do it for him ,but never had the chance. never even been in one before. def gonna do it one day. .
