I started out with a big mama 42 inch then went to a 37 inch and now I’m getting to know a 35 inch. My biggest advice would be to have just as much patience with yourself when you down size as you did when you first started hooping. 💜
One fun thing about a smaller hoop is that it’s easier on my knees for knee hooping, or my neck for neck hooping. I definitely agree that the time spent continuously waste hooping is definitely shorter and I tend to want to transition in and out of it more, with a small hoop.
I started with a 108cm (42inch) hoop, within a week I changed to a 100cm (39 inch) and few days later after losing some weight I ended up with a 88cm (35inch) hoop. I've fallen inlove with using a hoop and many are saying they are seeing a huge difference. I am recording my journey and I will defo let you know how things are going. I love using my 35 inch hoop at 20mm thickness-- class 6 pipe. Decorated myself. I love dancing and spinning with it. Thank you for this video. I've started having trouble with my corkscrew and I did notice that its the speed that often messed up. But got it in the right direction now. I know I transitioned fast. But each day I get my hoop on with a video from you to watch at night. Thank you Deanne!!!
Greatt video Deanne. I'm sure everyone remembers their first try with a polypro after learning all of the on body techniques. It is like aaaggh! now I have to start again! Great news is that it doesn't take too long to adapt. A polypro unlocks so much beautiful dance and flow. The pure joy a polypro brings to your practice is so worth the effort. I still love a beginner hoop too ❤
Ahhhhhhhhhh thank you smmmm❤️❤️ I tried hola hoping 5 years ago....couldn't do it and so it was just kept somewhere for years😂😂 I tried it again and because of your tutorial I was able to do it just in one day ahhhhhhhhhh thank u.....the main problem was that it is small and heavy so I tried to kinda spin around as u said to do....and I was able to get it in first go
I know a few transitions now and it’s so fun, all my friends get so impressed by it lol all thanks to you. Thank you for making hooping fun for me, can’t wait to advance more ❤️
I started with a HDPE 100cm, then went to a 95cm, I use both for waist and hip hooping and love them so much! Then I bought a polypro 95 and 90cm, I like these to do isolations, getting it up from waist to chest/neck, body rolls.. I'm now trying to learn knee hooping and I also find a polypro easier and kinder to my knees :-)
I though I was a «forever big hoops» hooper and that I would never be able to go under 32''. But now...I hoop with 30''. I am really surprised and proud! I got the hang of it instantly, but I think it's because I did go really slowly in the transition from one another with my past hoops. My body learned how to adapt! Love this size because it's easier with off-body tricks, works better with my short legs AND STILL is fun with the on-body that I love.
Went a smidge too small when transitioning to polypro (probs way to small, lol) and eventually got the hang of it, but I've been looking back recently and realize I didn't have to torture myself! Love the hoop now but feel like I'd have progressed more quickly and gracefully with a larger "small" hoop. Don't be afraid to go a little bigger. You can always downsize!
Thank you so much! I sold all my hoops in the US and moved to Ecuador. There are zero adult hoops here. I've imported a travel polypro and it's way too small. I'm learning off body only with it from your videos. I'm waiting for my travel larger size hoop to arrive in a week so I can exercise on body again. Can you do a video of travel hoops? They are really the only ones I can import. Ecuador doesn't have a postal service, so I pay a private traveler to bring it on a plane for me.
Hi Deanne! 👋 I started hooping two months ago. Took 3 weeks off but have really gotten in to it again this past week 😊 I have mainly been watching your tutorials. Love your vibe and your work! I haven't felt the need to learn from anyone else 💛 I started with a 100cm gorgeous handmade dance hoop. It is getting pretty battered and bruised now. I feel ready to give a 90cm hoop a go. It will again be a dance hoop. Next will be a polypro! So I'm glad that I am only switching to a smaller dance hoop for now which still has some weight to it! From there I will know my preferred size for when I invest in a larger polypro hoop! Some tricks will be a lot easier with a lighter hoop (I got a massive bruise from practicing the wedgie with my large heavy hoop 😬) Anyway thanks for all the fantastic work you do! Keep rocking on! 🤙💞
Wow it really sounds like you are trying out many things to find right feels right for your body, feels good, allows you to connect with the tricks and your movement. This is the beautiful journey of hooping. Creativity, experimentation and devotion
