Here from 1903 is Arthur Collins and Byron G. Harlan performing "Hooray For Baffin's Bay" on a Pink Lambert Indestructible cylinder record played on my Columbia BKT Graphophone. It's a comical nonsense song filled with puns and lots of crazy nautical references about navigating Baffin Bay off the coast of Greenland. Thanks for stopping in for a visit. I hope you enjoy the video.

I have sheet music for this song. I play the piano some (though not very well) and have been playing this from the sheet music for years without ever actually hearing a recording of it so always wondered if I was playing it right, as it is kind of tricky for a duffer like me. I couldn't find a recording anywhere and even looked on RU-vid many times. Now, checking the date, I see this has been up for more than two years, but it never came up in my searches, maybe because I looked for it under "Hurrah For Baffin's Bay" which is the title on the sheet music, though maybe it's different on the cylinder. It's from the hit Broadway "The Wizard Of Oz", as someone else mentioned, and in the show was probably done by the then very famous comedy team of Fred Stone & Dave Montgomery. 30 years later, Stone had a pretty good career as a character actor in movies (Alice Adams & The Trail Of The Lonesome Pine being two famous ones). BTW, I was pretty close to the tune in my own playing of it from the sheet music, which gives me more confidence in my sight reading ability, though my actual playing leaves much to be desired.

WOW, yes a very clear recording, and the surface noise is lower than most amberols also. On another related topic, I have been trying to find an image or film of a cylinder manufacturing plant, not the wax master but the actual replication process, have you found any?

Baffin Island is part of Canada, not "owned" by Canada.

The point I was making is that Baffins Island BELONGS to Canada. I’m not concerned with semantics and those who enjoy picking at the details I present can have at it. Thankfully most people enjoy my videos for the recordings and happily forgive the minor mistakes I make in the spoken aspect of my videos.
