I know everyone’s just having fun. But hopefully everyone sees the wizard’s hesitation in accepting these goods. Wizard has worked very hard for this shop & he’s a good owner. While he’s very lucky and grateful to have hoovie’s business, I am sure it can be frustrating have someone come in and put their own thoughts into what you need. But at the same time, Tyler was just being nice. Saw some stuff for cheap, thought of his friend & figured if he didn’t want it, he could scrap it. No harm done. To conclude, I’d just be careful in leaving comments that undermine how great of a business owner David is.

Squirrel cage blower - set it in a window to clear out exhaust fumes, paint fumes, smoke or if you have to run a car for a long time for tuning you can put the blower in front of the rad. The shorty cabinet - that is what we used for a paint bench. Keep paint, thinners, hardener etc along with spray guns and brushes and the top is a handy workbench for mixing paint. Those ramps - bolt a mud flap or piece of rubber conveyer belt to the end and it won't skid away when you go to drive up on it. A piece of rubber under the other end too.

I've made use of discarded file cabinets. They make great storage, and the older ones have such heavy construction that you could store a LOT of weight in them. Look for the ones especially that have taller sides to their drawers. Pro tip: the drawer sets to some old desks can be removed from the desktop and used for parts cabinets and mini tool cabinets. Similarly, I have gotten keys made up for those drawer sets and been able to secure them.

That's a great way to upgrade your garage. I have completely outfitted my 6 + car garage with government surplus and, most recently, an auction of Bill Elliott's racing shop. For next to nothing I have large, professional cabinetry with work areas, metal cabinets like yours, metal tables and enough rolling carts to supply the 8th Army Motor Pool. I took the extras and really cleaned up my home garage! I've painted such items before and other times left them untouched. If you don't mind a dent here and there and don't feel you "must peel the 'new' stickers" of your equipment, scouring the want ads, Craig's List and other quality junk items can be found, even a shade tree mechanic can look like a pro on RU-vid. And for me, that's all that matters!

Hi Car Wizard from Australia. I set up my industrial workshop with some '70's steel double door cabinets/filing cabinets/pigeon hole cabinets from the railway workshops too. They were pink, beige, dark green and poo brown. (all those '70's colors).... All we did was take the handles off, clean 'em up, spray them with grey primer then clear coat. All look the same now, and I have space for manuals, flammables, power tools, terminal/circlip/heli coil kits, tools in/out for customers, and a makeshift desk like you. That short one will suit just fine having a suppliers blotter pad on top. You know the large paper sheet ones? Good idea, and make it cheap folks ! Why spend $$ when you can save them? And it all looks new.

I had a 94 Dodge B250 van with the 318 and well over 200K. Didn't think I ever experienced the cracked head issue. It purred like a kitten. One issue I did have to fix was the was the cover on the bottom of the intake plenum. The gasket was blown causing an internal vacuum leak and oil consumption. I picked up the upgraded steel embossed gasket from Fel-Pro and that took care of the problem.

The "drink in the cabinet joke" was cheesy UNTIL it reappeared in the next scene... at that point it was comic GOLD!

What's also good is warehouse sales. You'll get lots of cool stuff with maybe some accessories missing or some scuffs, maybe a missing box. Well below "bare tool" or "brown box" pricing too. Sometimes they might even have consumable items they're just giving away because they just want them out of the warehouse!

Those red open shelves are from a body shop, and you would use them to store components when disassembling a car for paint. I have a few of them for my collision center that look identical except mine have caster wheels. They should hold plenty of weight.

Dude this is how to live in general. I love the idea of upcycling and reusing stuff. All my furniture is stuff I found outside of rich peoples houses or bought at a thrift store. My house looks beautiful and it cost about 200 to furnish the place

Love the truck. I bought an old ranger for $900 because our new Jeep Wrangler and lifted Gwagon suck for trips to pick up lumber. Old trucks are invaluable!

I Googled AGM-142. Evidently that cabinet held Israeli medium-range conventional air-to-surface missiles. 👍🏻

Did the same decades ago. Bought a 1971 Dodge D100 (Slant 6, Auto) and a used Handy Lift. Boom. I work on my own stuff now, saving $$$

Regarding safety, that blower will need a guard around the belt. Without a guard, you could be subject to a serious and substantial OSHA fine. Get it off your property until you can fabricate a guard for it.

Those cabinets are great. I used to have ones from my former employer and worked perfectly.

That blower fan looks like it’s from an evaporative (swamp) cooler. The belt and regular plug set up is very typical. It would be inside a metal box with pads that get water pumped on them when it’s on. Air gets pulled through the wet pads and it gets cooler. We have tons of them out here in the desert. Probably too humid in Kansas to use them, though.
