Hop into ED Recovery with Me: Day in the Life // How I FIRST started actioning my recovery

Hi friends! I really hope you enjoy this day with me recreating an example of my first days hopping into recovery: actioning a minimum based on my fear foods and rebelling against ED rules.
As I state in the video, this is NOT an example of a 'typical' day in recovery for me (or a reflection of my average recovery hungry and DEFINITELY not a reflection of EH or anything even like it)- it's an example of me actioning a base-line minimum at the very start of my recovery journey with some tips for how I navigated this process. It's the third video in my hop-skip-JUMP into recovery RU-vid series with the other two linked here:
Getting started- make these 2 lists
• Initiating Recovery //...
Food shopping in recovery (using those lists)
• Food Shopping in Recov...
Thanks again for all your support and I hope you enjoy :)

Love how you don't stray from including foods often seen as "treats" or "unhealthy" foods, unlike many ED recovery vloggers who show "healthy and balanced" foods only. Helps me be more accepting of my extreme hunger where I often crave more processed foods, and my hunger appearing sporadically. Thanks a ton Emily!

1) Thank you so much for this comment, I'm so pleased you are finding my content helpful and supportive. 2) I welcome all those foods with open arms (to recoverED and beyond). 3) The bodies drive to prioritise hyper-palatable high energy dense foods in recovery is an act of genius. Trust your brilliant body :) 3) Just wanted to add that practicing food neutrality is super important both in recovery and generally. There are vast arrays of difference between foods (colours/textures/flavours/convenience/nutrient contents/energy contents etc) but there is not good/bad or healthy/unhealthy. Challenging these labels is such an important part of moving towards food (and ED) freedom. Thanks again for your love and support! Wishing you a lovely day

This was so helpful. Thank you! The ease at which you enjoyed all of this good nourishment was so refreshing. I love love love what you shared about fullness. Yeah it’s uncomfortable - in the moment! It WILL and does pass! But what is truly awful is living with an ED! Yes!! Eat for the moment. Always so so good to remember. I also liked the suggestion about using reusable containers for snacks when you’re out and about. I also prefer that to remove the nutrition labels. Win win. 🙌🏼 And the ED really does try to hijack so many situations. Love every reframe you shared. ❤

Thanks Emily! Love your videos 🥰 I have a question... You talk about the meal plan and how useful it could be at the early stages of recovery... But did you plan exactly what to eat at every meal? Or it was just breakfast - snack - lunch - snack - dinner and you decided what to eat spontaneously? Thanks ♥️
@emilyspence2961
@emilyspence2961 Год назад
Hey, I didn't plan things exactly on meal by snack basis no. Generally I just bought an array of foods from my ED disapproved list (I have a video on this incase you don't know what I mean) and then decided what I wanted in the moment based on what looked or sounded good/what my ED didn't want me to have. However, there were also times (especially early on in my recovery journey) where I have to pre-plan and commit to things in advance because my fear meant that I didn't always fancy things spontaneously. I hope that makes sense and answers your question :) x

Hey! Good point and in all honesty, I just completely forgot to film drinks other than that glass of smoothie. Numerous other drinks were consumed (including several lovely cocktails with the meal in the evening) and for the context of this video (me hopping into recovery) I want to highlight that drinks featured throughout my days with a focus on smoothies, juices, milkshakes and normal fizzy drinks etc.
@Ivycandoit

Sorry I know this is probably a very unhelpful question. And I warn anyone to not look if it’s triggering . Deepest apologies. But this is your baseline amount of intake, so that’s the bare minimum when you started? Am I getting the right idea? Obviously more is encouraged , correct? Sorry I’m new , trying to recover and want to make the right approach and get the right idea of what you were saying and not muddle myself up. 😅 Otherwise this is very helpful and the series has been for me and my situation indeed! Thank you so much and keep being amazing!
@emilyspence2961
@emilyspence2961 Год назад
Yes, as I explained in the intro and in the video blurb, this was my absolute baseline minimum and the foundation from which I added a LOT more by completely honouring ALL my mental and physical hunger, challenging any and all ED rules and committing to things like (saying YES whenever offered things and grazing). I will be discussing this in my next video in this series :) Thank you for you support and I hope this answers your question xx

@vforcetitans
@vforcetitans 16 часов назад
You eat when you feel hungry, adding a time frame for meals is still a sign of ED, eat until you feel genuinely satisfied, and eat what and the amount you fancy, no scales or worries about the amount of Calories it contains, if you eat a meal and an hour or two you feel hungry grab a snack, listen to your hungry ques, if you’re overly concerned about how to approach your recovery speak to a doctor/ dietitian they can help you with a plan going forward, it will be hard and stressful and feel wired/ not normal or uncomfortable at times,but stick to it, remember it takes time to adjust to habit that’s been a way of life for a while, eds like to make us overthink things but just go with the flow,

The video was a recreation of how I 'hopped' into recovery by using a backbone minimum of meals and snacks that were disapproved by my ED (helped me to initiate action taking at the early stage of my recovery journey). I really want to recover and go ALL IN but I’m not underweight enough. I’m underweight but almost weight restored and that scares me to go all in. 🥺 Its really hard when you know you will gain weight and you know you are almost normal weight and I only want cake,chocolate etc. If I let go and really eat what I want, I could literally eat tons of chocolate or cake or something like that🥺❤️
@emilyspence2961
@emilyspence2961 Год назад
There is no weight-requirement for going all in and if eating what you want (aka eating without restriction) means tons of chocolate and cake then that is what you need to do. Extreme hunger/feast eating is a very normal and natural component of recovery from a restrictive ED. Also, recovery is not a weight-dependant process and you can be in an energy deprived state at any weight/size. Your hunger is not the enemy and you can trust your body: lean into the fear and choose recovery
