When Jasmine Miles first saw her shoes covered in a gray film last year, she didn’t know what to think. The Wesley Chapel homeowner says mold has taken over her brand-new house, forcing her to live elsewhere for the last seven months.
She says she’s reported issue after issue since moving in back in 2017.
A spokesperson for the home builder, DR Horton, sent an email response to FOX 13 saying, "We have visited the home and inspected it in accordance with our warranty procedures; however, we have not been able to verify the referenced issues. At Ms. Miles' request, we are actively working with her attorney to address these concerns."

In high humidity areas like Florida, it starts as mildew from keeping your home at 85 degrees or above without using A/C...never leave your home A/C set above 84 degrees...If you are cold below that temperature, use a dehumidifier at all times in every room...There are also DampRid containers that can be bought at home improvement stores to place in all of your closets or rooms that don't have a vent direct from the HVAC...I know this doesn't pertain to every situation, but in general, it will prevent mildew from beginning and turning into mold. Homeowners should have their house exteriors and roofs oxygen-bleach cleaned at least every two years in the Florida climate as well...It's worth the $500-$700 to have it done professionally...Your homeowners insurance agency may even require it to renew your policy. There are books that every homeowner should have that lets them know all of the preventive measures for everything to do with a homestead to minimize your expenditures over the 30-50 years you may choose to live in it...this also gives you more return on the re-sale value once you're ready to put it on the market...i.e how to properly maintain a dryer, hot water heater, A/C compressor, air handler, drains & ducts...these are high ticket items if you have to replace because you didn't perform or have them maintained regularly...most people are completely clueless that certain things will fail over time from lack of cleaning and maintenance...There's no reason to spend thousands when you can spend hundreds instead. Also, keep all foliage(tree leaves/plant life) from touching your structure...consider 6-8 ft. minimum of separation due to wind and rain run-off...make sure your gutters and downspouts are in working order to keep the run-off moving well away from the structure...make sure all natural and infrastructural drainage is free of debris. make sure any modifications to your landscape meet the requirement to allow natural run-off. There are many more aspects as well. Rules and regulations continually evolve...keep up with what code requires before performing any work yourself and make sure anyone hired is licensed, insured and up to date with code requirements...always pull a permit before performing any work that requires it because if you don't, you may have no claim if something goes wrong...insurance company's will check, deny and drop coverage...this could be a big deal for someone who doesn't have the means to pay off their mortgage...I don't know of any mortgage company(bank) that will hold that note without the homebuyer having homeowner's insurance. You definitely want insurance...it's your biggest investment. Good luck...I hope this enlightens some of you that never gave it much thought.

It doesn’t matter if it was built in 2017 mold can still develop. The moisture growth can take place at anytime 🙄

Simple Solution " STOP BUILDING IN SWAMPS" AND FILLED AREAS. BECAUSE AFTER A SWAMP THERE IS NO PLACE FOR IT TO GO. Me talking because I am 170 Ft. above MSL.
